BPI Sports Best Protein Bar in Apple Crumb Cake (1/3 size) – Value $0.78

I’ve had these in a few other flavors. I’m not often into fruit flavors in protein bars but apple is one that works for me. I do kind of wish BPI would just send out full size bars, though. (In the end, I’m sticking with Quest Bars. But it is nice to see the different options available.)

Detour Simple Caramel Peanut Whey Protein Bar (1.1 oz) – Value $2.08

This *looked* delicious. But. It had gelatin in it, so I gave it to my husband. He thought it tasted good but wasn’t particularly filling. I find it a little irritating that I have to read the ingredients in protein bars to make sure they are vegetarian, but then, PrettyFit makes no promises that these boxes will fit any particular set of dietary restrictions.

Miracle Tree Moringa Original Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28

Miracle Tree Moringa Ginger Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28

Miracle Tree Moringa Honey & Vanilla Tea (1 bag) – Value $0.28

I’m familiar with this product from subscription boxes. Moringa is a superfood from South and Central Asia that has anti-inflammatory properties and is full of antioxidants. Various parts of the tree are consumed and/or used in beauty products. I am not the biggest fan of plain moringa, but I actually found that I enjoyed the honey and vanilla tea quite a bit. So perhaps that is the way to go for me in the future.

prettyfit-september-2016-cereal

Kay’s Naturals Protein Cereal in French Vanilla (9.5 oz) – Value $5.99

This is gluten free so it doesn’t have *quite* the texture of most breakfast cereals, but it is not bad. I do like the flavor. And the added protein (from a soy source) doesn’t interfere with the flavor or texture. Plus, it is nice to get a large, full size food item!

Buff Bake White Chocolate Protein Peanut Spread (13 oz) – Value $10.99

And another full size food item! Buff Bake appears in PrettyFit boxes fairly often and I have sampled this before in a small packet. I love white chocolate! I much prefer the jar (none of that kneading stuff required). This will be perfect for my next peanut butter sandwich week for lunch.

PrettyFit Omegas (6o softgels) – Value $19.99

I will be passing these on to someone else since they are fish oil capsules and I’m a vegetarian. But, if you are not vegetarian, I do recommend a supplement like this. There are tons of the active forms of omega 3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) and they are good at reducing inflammation as well as improving cholesterol numbers.

prettyfit-september-2016-ginger

Prince of Peace Ginger Candy (3 pieces) – Value $0.24

I’ve been a fan of this brand’s jasmine green tea for a few years. It is nice to try some of their other products. Do watch out for any dental work if you eat these, though (which would also be true of any other ginger chew).

Prince of Peace Ginger Honey Crystals (0.63 oz) – Value $0.43

I like to drink ginger tea when I have a little stomach upset and this has concentrated ginger extract. I am saving this for the next time I am a little queasy (you just dissolve it in hot water and it makes instant ginger tea).

prettyfit-september-2016-idealshake

Ideal Shake in Vanilla (1 oz) – Value $1.66

Ideal Shake in Mocha (1 oz) – Value $1.66

Ideal Shake in Strawberry (1.1 oz) – Value $1.66

I don’t really like to drink things like this just shaken into liquids (plus, counting calories has helped me lose 38 pounds this year while eating whole foods and no meal replacements). The texture is not for me. But, they have a lot of whey protein and are low in calories and have plenty of vitamins and minerals, so I’ve been adding them to my smoothies instead. My favorite is probably the vanilla. However, I will gladly volunteer to taste test the salted caramel and chocolate peanut butter flavors…

prettyfit-september-2016-whey

PrettyFit Whey Protein Packets (5 chocolate, 5 vanilla, 28.4 grams each) – Value $25

I’ve received this from PrettyFit in the past. These will be another great inclusion in my morning smoothies. I like to mix ½ chocolate and ½ vanilla (then I clip the packages shut). I also like getting multiple packets instead of one big tub, because they’re less likely to pick up water and get crusty/chunky over time. For what it’s worth, you can get PrettyFit branded items in their store these days, which is great if you find something you like.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $71.32 for this PrettyFit box. That is a great value and is much improved over last month. It is actually even still a decent value considering the two non-vegetarian items. I was happy to get resupplied with some whey protein, I actually found a flavor of moringa tea I liked, it was fun to try some new Prince of Peace products, and my next peanut butter sandwich week will be more exciting than when I just make sandwiches with plain peanut butter. So this box was basically a win for me.

Note: As mentioned earlier, this box does not promise to cater to any specific dietary needs or preferences. Most, but not all, items are typically vegetarian and many are gluten free. You can preview the contents of boxes and skip a month or elect to receive a past box if it is still available, so the risk is pretty low. I would probably not recommend this subscription for vegans, though, as you will see a lot of whey protein.

I don’t see where to sign up for the monthly subscription boxes like you got… Only where to buy their products individually. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the 38 pounds! That’s amazing!

It’s hard to find fitness boxes that work with your specific diet and exercise plans, but I still like reading the reviews!
