Spunky Pup Carrot – Value $6.99

This is a rubber-textured toy that you can put treats in. (It is a little too small for the treats that came with this box. But you can put kibble in there, or peanut butter.) I have found Spunky Pup toys to be fairly durable and this was no exception. Nyx had fun with it, as you can see below.

Petkin Bamboo Eco Mega Roll Waste Bags (60 count + holder) – Value $5.99

We go through a lot of bags thanks to the fiber supplement Nyx has to take. And I didn’t have a holder before, so that’s handy. These are supposed to be deodorizing but what I have found is that there is pretty much nothing you can incorporate into a dog waste bag that will cover up the smell. Still, one of the more useful dog supplies I’ve received from this box!

Shaded Trails Sweet Potato and Apple Treats (5 oz) – Value $5.95

These are vegan and grain free, plus they are also free of soy, so they will be excellent for dogs with allergies. (The base is chickpea flour and there is also some sweet potato and flaxseed meal.) Shaded Trails is a new brand for me and I like their focus on the health effects of plant-based foods for dogs. (Not that I am saying a dog should be vegan, just that dogs are omnivores and can handle some plant-based foods, and so you might as well give them treats with lots of nutrients!)

Wholelife Unbaked Sweet Potato and Carrot Treats (2.3 oz) – Value $4.89

These are freeze dried and have lentils, chickpeas, and pumpkin as the base, so they are another treat that’s good for dogs with allergies. These are made and sourced in the US and are vegetarian. I’ve seen some other Wholelife treats in subscription boxes but those were usually freeze-dried meat, so it’s nice to see more of their product line.

I put some of Nyx’s wet food inside the carrot and she had a lot of fun with it. I like her tongue in the last picture!

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $23.82 for the September 2016 PetPack for dogs. That is really pretty low compared to the cost of the subscription plus shipping and is a considerable drop from last month. I think all the items this month were wonderful and useful and I loved the focus on low-allergen treats. I just really think there should have been one or two more items to round out the value a little bit.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I appreciate your emphasis of which box and at which price-point you are reviewing by bolding that information in your reviews. Sometimes it gets confusing when there are multiple options available, and there is so much information at the top of the reviews that it can be easy to gloss over what the review is actually covering. But, I always enjoy your reviews!
