We’re starting a new monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite items from the past month:
The Item: Gourmet Sweet Botanicals Crystalized Viola (10 count)
The Cost: $10
From: Crafted Taste
Why I love it: These crystalized flowers were included in July’s Crafted Taste box as a cocktail garnish, and I just can’t get over how pretty they are! They’re crunchy, sweet, and utterly beautiful. Here’s a shot of one on top of Crafted Taste’s featured cocktail, the Reanimator.
The Item: Haribo Sour Gummy Grapefruit Slices
The Cost: Candy Club costs $27.99 + $6 shipping per month ($19.99 + $6 shipping per month with a year subscription).
Why I love it: I love sour gummies, and these grapefruit candies are fantastic. They’re tart, sour, juicy, and, best of all, they taste just like actual pink grapefruit!
The Item: 2015 Secret Identity Rosé
The Cost: $18
Why I love it: Rosé is my favorite warm weather wine, and this is the best rosé I’ve had all summer. It tastes just like tart strawberries!
The Item: Bright & Early Coffee – Jamaica Me Crazy
The Cost: $2.19
Why I love it: This is the most flavorful coffee that I’ve received from Single Cup Club to date. I’m a big fan of medium brews and this one was tasted smooth and even smelled sweet.
The Cost: $8.98
Why I love it: This scalp ointment was a great overall oil for my thick curls. It smelled nice and mixed well with other products. I found myself reaching for it even though I have other oils open already! I hope to see more from this brand in upcoming boxes.
The Item: SprezzaBox – Socks
The Cost: $12.00
Why I love it: John loves his Sprezza socks! As always, this pair was very comfortable and matched well with his wardrobe. Sprezza socks fit men’s US size 8-12 and John wears a US 11.5 and says that he never feels like they are getting too tight after washing.
The Item: Wind Pouch
The Cost: $79.99
Why I love it: I have actually had a bit of envy over these pillow hammocks ever since they started showing up in parks several months ago. Now I have my own! I can’t wait until the weather cools off a bit so I can sack out in the great outdoors again!
The Item: Allen Bucket Handbag by Sorial (No longer available)
The Cost: $150
Why I love it: This is the perfect summer purse, and I completely love it. It’s a great size, too, and excellent quality.
The Item: Moroccan Maxi Wrap Dress by Kiyonna
The Cost: $128
From: Wantable Style Edit
Why I love it: I was right about this dress. It’s a show stopper! I can’t remember the last time I received so many compliments on an item of clothing.
The Cost: $7.89
Why I Love It: The cats really seemed to have fun with this. Plus, I adore this photo of Mr. Kitty peeking out from under it:
The Item: 21 mm Tropical Flower Toggle Clasps
The Cost: ?
From: Bargain Bead Box
Why I Love It: I like interesting clasps, and this one actually made a good centerpiece for a necklace. There’s no reason clasps have to hide in the back!
The Item: Rosette Pore Peeling Gel
The Cost: $7.51
Why I Love It: I like peeling gels, and this is one of the most effective I have ever tried. Also like that it is full size!
The Item: Grey Ghost Bakery Almond Toffee Cookies
The Cost: $2
Why I Love It: I thought all the cookies in this box were good, but there is something about the almond toffee flavor that just worked for me. They were nutty, buttery, and delicious (and as a bonus, they were soft, which is my favorite)!
The Item: Lizard Charms
The Cost: ?
From: Blueberry Cove Beads
Why I Love It: I have been into charms lately and I thought these were super cute. I’ve already used them all up and will have to look for more.
The Item: Milk Cosmetics Sunshine Oil
The Cost: $38 for 15 ml
From: Birchbox (Get $5 (50 points) to spend in the Birchbox shop when you subscribe with coupon code SUBSCRIBENOW50 OR Try any of these free gift with purchase coupons on orders of $35 or more!) And don’t forget yourfree mystery sample pack on orders of $35 or more!)
Why I Love It: This is my newest favorite discovery! I already love using oils on my skin/body/hair, and this oil is a great versatile moisturizer. It has a blend of seven essential oils including grapeseed, avocado, grapefruit peel, tangerine peel, mandarin orange peel, and lemon peel! It smells amazing. A couple ways I’ve used it so far include as a facial moisturizer, a highlighter, and in my hair (I rolled some onto my palms, rubbed them together, and ran my hands through the ends of my hair). The packaging is also fantastic. I love the rollerball.
This oil has no shimmer in it, but it naturally gives such a pretty, dewy look. FYI – this swatch was before I rubbed it in, so it doesn’t look this shimmery after it’s blended/applied. It just looks radiant.
The Item: Sweet Clarie White Floral Dress
The Cost: $40
From: Golden Tote $149 Tote
Why I Love It: I’m obsessed with this dress. The length is perfect on me, and it’s lined (swoon) to the knee. The hemline comes up on the sides and I feel like that just gives a little extra interesting detail to the dress. And of course, this floral pattern is one of the most beautiful fabrics I’ve seen. This is one of my all-time Golden Tote scores!
The Item: Feltman + Co Double Ring Teether
The Cost: $14.99
Why I Love It: This is a great teether. The little silicone beads are BPA-free and food-grade, and the rings are natural wood sealed with 100% beeswax. It’s interesting for my son and easily gripped. Plus, it’s stylish. I think he also likes changing between chewing the beads and the wood, and he even likes the little wood tag with the brand name on it.
The Item: Angel Shave Club Blades and Razor
The Cost: $6.00
Why I love it: I’ve tried so many razor shave clubs in the past few years, but this is my favorite. The handle is easy to hold, the blades hold up well, and I never get razor burn (which was common when I was a Dollar Shave Club subscriber)! Something about these blades seems to work better for me.
The Cost: 10.00?
Why I love it: This cajeta from Blue Heron farm is delicious. It has just three ingredients: milk, cane sugar, and baking soda. If I don’t use all of this up in my espresso, I’ll use the rest of it to make my husbands favorite cake: yellow cake with dulce de leche/cajeta on top instead of frosting – if you’ve never tried this, you should! It’s the easiest cake you’ll ever make and it’s really delicious.
I’m still savoring this jar, but I really should just go ahead and make my husband the cake…I’m being selfish.
The Item: Primo Strawberry Ancho Preserves
The Cost: $9.00
Why I love it: This is the answer to your sweet topping for a cheese plate this summer – it is excellent with cheese! My favorite is Dubliner Irish Cheddar, but I would imagine this would be equally great with a bit of goat cheese or brie. The ancho flavor comes through just enough, with the strawberry flavors melding perfectly with the heat!
Nancy S’ Favorites:
The Item: Benton Fermentation Essence
The Cost: $27
Why I love it: I’m very particular about sticky skincare so I fell so hard for this Benton essence upon the first use. It contains fermented goodness and smells like nothing. It absorbs quickly, feels weightless, leaves so sticky residue, and provides the perfect amount of hydration for my oily prone skin. I’m in love!
The Item: Flower Headband
Why I love it: My first flower headband ever! I wore it to a music festival and it felt comfortable all day. The leaves and braided vines added to the boho vibe.
The Item: Luxe Pineapple 6 Pan Magnetic Palette
The Cost: $10
Why I love it: This is my first magnetic palette and I love how useful it is. I appreciate having the ability to organize lots of pigments in one place. It makes me crave more magnetic palettes now!
The Item: Vapor Rub
The Cost: $12
Why I love it: I love using natural vapor rubs on my children (and even on myself) when we have colds and coughs. My son had a summer cold this week and this rub worked like a charm. I thought I wouldn’t be using this product till the cooler weather arrived, but I was glad to have it!
The Item: Herbivore Botanicals After Sun Mist
The Cost: $12
Why I love it: This mist smells divine, works well and is reasonably priced. It feels so fancy in the beautiful glass bottle and it lasts and lasts.
The Item: Chroma Type 201 Paring Knife
The Cost: $54.95
Why I love it: I am so obsessed with this knife’s design and functionality. It feels so great in your hand and I’ve been turning to grab it every time I’m working in my kitchen. One of the best subscription box finds to date.
The Item: Coco Luxe Organic Coconut Oil in a Tube
The Cost: $12.00
Why I love it: I’m trying to use less shampoo on my super frizzy hair and although I love the increase in texture, I miss the softness of conditioner. I used this coconut oil as a hair mask and I love the results! It’s not easy to get out but it’s worth the trouble.
The Item: Emoji Backpack Clip
The Cost: $4.99 (on sale for $3.49)
Why I love it: We are getting a lot of mileage out of this poo emoji. All my daughter’s friends at school want one now and my friends think it’s hilarious. Gross but hilarious. It’s so funny!
The Item: 121 First Dates: How to Succeed at Online Dating, Fall in Love, and Live Happily Ever After(Really!) by Wendy Newman
The Cost: $11.52 on Amazon (retail price $16.00)
Why I love it: I’m single and navigating the dating scene, especially online dating has been a struggle. This book was helpful and an enjoyable and easy read. I have gleaned many tips from Wendy’s many dating adventures.
The Item: Pop Beauty Kajal Pen
The Cost: $10.00
Why I love it: I love the shade (Inky Purple) and how it gave me a bold pop of color to my eyes. The smudger works well to blend the color on my lash line and to give me a sultry smoky eye.
The Item: What A Gem Kit
The Cost: $8.00
From: Paper Pumpkin
Why I Love it: I enjoyed making these decorative gem boxes. I’m not much of a crafter but this low maintenance project was fun and made me realize how therapeutic crafting can be, especially with a friend.
The Cost: $10-15 on Amazon
Why I Love It: This was my first-ever McFarlane building set – and I had a blast with it. So much so that I bought the Game of Thrones throne room set, too!
The Item: Lara Croft Vinyl Figure
The Cost: $10-15?
Why I Love It: I loved the design of this little figure, and Lara Croft is awesome, so it was a favorite of mine. It has trouble standing, though, you’ll have to find a base to attach it to so that she stands up properly.
The Item: Zoe Washburn Qm Mini Masters
The Cost: $20-25?
Why I Love It: Cargo Crate is three boxes in and each one has been great! But, I think this might be the best figure to-date!
The Item: Hobgoblin POP
The Cost: $75 on POP Price Guide
Why I Love It: The box, as a whole, was a big disappointment. But, this Hobgoblin POP was pure magic!
The Item: Planet Express Q-Fig
The Cost: $20-25?
Why I Love It: I love Futurama and I love statues and figures – it’s a match made in heaven.
The Item: R2-D2 Jabba’s Skiff POP
The Cost: $25?
From: Smuggler’s Bounty
Why I Love It: If it wasn’t for Hobgoblin, this would have been my favorite POP of the month. It’s my favorite design from Smuggler’s Bounty yet!
