The box came with an information card detailing the items for September. The theme is “Moroccan Hammam.” (A hammam is a traditional Moroccan steam room.)
Marrakesh Fig Solid Perfume (0.33 oz) – Value $7.50
You’ll get a fair number of fragrances in Orglamix. They change it up, though, and sometimes offer solid perfumes instead of essential oil rollerballs. I think this is about my favorite Orglamix perfume since I started reviewing this box. (I took this value from the information card since I can’t find this in their shop. Anytime below there is no link, the situation is the same.)
Moroccan Rose Mineral Lip + Cheek Tint (2.5 g) – Value $18
There is usually at least one color cosmetic in Orglamix boxes and this month it is a lip + cheek tint. I prefer to use products like this as cheek tints because I don’t like lip products in pots. This will last me a very long time because it is pretty pigmented so I don’t want to use too much at once (I am super pale).
Here’s a swatch of the lip + cheek tint.
Botanical Facial Steam (4 oz) – Value $15
You put a little of this into a bowl and then pour boiling water over it. Then you breathe the vapors. The first ingredient is eucalyptus so this should be excellent for congestion. (I am saving it. My husband has a cold this week and it is only a matter of time before I get sick, too…)
Rhassoul Body Clay Mask (1 oz) – Value $10
It is a little unclear from the information card whether this is for the face or body (kind of seems like both?). I tried it on my face because I love clay masks. Once again I added too much water, but that is a problem I nearly always have. It was non-irritating and it absorbed excess oil without stripping my face.
Here are photos of the insides of the jars.
Stash Moroccan Mint Tea (2 bags) – Value $0.50
This is a fun little extra. I’m a big fan of Stash teas, although I don’t think I’ve had this one before. There is a traditional Moroccan way of brewing it described in the information card, but that involves sugar (I don’t like drinks with sugar in them) so I will just brew these from the hot water machine at work for an afternoon pick-me-up.
Moroccan Argan Oil Treatment (1.35 fl oz) – Value $19
You can’t have a box inspired by Morocco without argan oil, which is the country’s signature beauty export to the West. This has a light fragrance (not too bad) and it did a good job of smoothing some flyaways when I applied a few drops to my hair this morning. (Don’t feel limited to using it on the hair, that’s just where argan oil works best for me. This does not appear to be exactly the same item as the regular argan oil on their site.)
Verdict: I calculated a value of $70 for the September Orglamix subscription box. Granted, I took all the values from the information card because these items were exclusive for the subscription box. But, that is basically $6 per item (not counting the tea), which seems like a good deal to me. I will use everything and I will be sad when I run out of the fig fragrance. Plus, I really like the themes Orglamix comes up with. It would be so easy to do very standard holiday themes, but “Moroccan Hammam” is a unique concept and they can tailor the items to fit the box since they make most everything themselves!
What do you think of the September 2016 Orglamix box?
