Drymate Pet Bowl Placemat for Dogs and Cats – Value $8
This print is exclusive to Meowbox, as you can see. I will use this for under Sneaky’s bowl. She already has to eat in our tiny shower room because she gets food everywhere – even halfway up the wall. I’m not sure how she accomplishes this, but placemats make cleaning easier and this one is machine washable.
Categories Catnip Filled Owl Kicker – Value $5.99
My cats aren’t really into the large toys but we seem to be getting a lot of them lately. Anyway, this one had feathers so it was more popular than most (feathers make pretty much anything an instant win, except real birds – my cats are terrified of my cockatiels, parakeets, and zebra finches).
Meowbox Cell Phone Catnip Pillow – Value $3 (?)
Meowbox has been sending some exclusive toys lately. I would encourage them to continue as I think it adds a little overall value to the box. I kept thinking this was a calculator but the message on the screen and signal bars tell me otherwise. (I had a phone that didn’t look too different from this until recently but it was 2G and my carrier said they would no longer support it so I had to upgrade to a flip phone…)
Buddy Biscuits Grain Free Cat Treats with Tender Chicken (3 oz) – Value $2.99
We’ve gotten Buddy Biscuits a bunch of times before, but my cats love them (see below). They’re grain free and made in the USA, which is nice.
Lekiwi’s Bakery Catnip Donut – Value $6.50
This is a catnip pillow toy designed to look like a pastry. It is very soft and the packaging is super clever (which is why I have left the little bit of tissue paper in the photo – just like you’d get with a real pastry at a bakery). My cats weren’t in a very playful mood the day I took these photos, but I have put this up in the bedroom (where they spend their days and safely away from Nyx, who will eat just about anything) for them to play with later.
These treats were pretty popular. And look! Two kitty tongues in the same photo.
Never thought I would see the day a cat would take a treat from my hand. (He also bit my finger, but you can’t have everything!)
And ANOTHER cat takes treats from my fingers (can’t really see the treat in this photo…).
Sneaky was moving too much for me to get good action shots, but she did like playing with this toy.
And here she is, totally mesmerized by the sight of Monkey coughing up a hairball across the room (really).
Even Basement Cat likes feathers!
Madison taking a treat from my fingers. I can’t remember the last time I got one of them to eat out of my hand, let alone all three (Mr. Kitty doesn’t count since he can’t have treats).
You see so many cat photos around these windows because they’re the only sunny spot in the house (most of the house is pretty dark and surrounded by trees). So we put the scratch pads we get in subscription boxes there and you’ll see 2 or 3 cats there on any given afternoon.
Anyway, Mr. Kitty was pretty sleepy so I took advantage of that to pose him with some of the toys from the box…
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $26.48 for the August Meowbox. That is over the cost of the box and a little better than past several months. You can always buy a longer term subscription and/or use our ADDICTION coupon to get a better deal. This is actually something I would recommend if this box appeals to you. I like the trend in this subscription towards more exclusive items (totally don’t mind getting more Buddy Biscuits, though, as you can see my cats loved those) and indie items, too.
What did you think of the August 2016 Meowbox? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
