The information card included a list of items in the box. I notice this month they included values. I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online.

Ourpets Cosmic Catnip Pillow – Value $1.49

Monkey did lick this a lot, I just couldn’t get a good photo. He really likes canvas-type textures and I guess it had good catnip.

Ourpets Glossy Mouse – Value $2.75

This was Sneaky’s favorite thing in the box. She bit it. Frequently. Tossed it all over the dining room until she lost it behind the curtains.

Safemade Catnip Wine Kicker – Value $6

My cats are not big into the larger kicker/wrestler type toys, but this one is small enough that they still showed some interest and Monkey did like the canvas texture a lot.

Safemade Motor Worm – Value $6

You pull the tail of this and it vibrates. My cats didn’t care much for the vibration but they did like the texture of the hair. Safemade toys don’t seem to be easily available online so I’ve taken the values here from the information card.

Think Cat! Catnip Cheese Toy – Value $5

My cats LOVE real cheese. I don’t think this has much in common with real cheese, but the outer texture was another hit for Monkey. (This is another one that was hard to find online. I kept getting recipes using cheese when I searched…)

Safemade Queen Bee – Value $5

We’ve gotten this toy from KitNipBox before, but it’s been awhile. (The information card said “back by popular demand.”) It’s lightweight enough that my cats can toss it around by themselves, which is nice.

Prime Taste Chicken Dental Treats (2.1 oz) – Value $2.18

We’ve had these before but I get like 10 cat subscription boxes so I don’t remember where they came from. At any rate, Madison and Sneaky enjoyed them (and were LICKING the inside of the bag) so that’s a win.

Kitty photo time!

First off, we have for you two photos of Madison WITHOUT laser eyes!

kitnipbox-september-2016-monkey

Monkey was not in a particularly playful mood this day. Too sleepy from lazing about in a sunny window or something.

Sneaky was (as usual) in a playful mood. She particularly liked the shiny mouse toy.

Mr. Kitty would not leave the sunny window. He spent the next two days sleeping in the same spot, as well.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $28.42 for the September KitNipBox. That is almost equal to the cost of the box (maybe $1.50 low) and really not bad considering I found a few of the items for considerably less than the retail values listed on the card. My cats enjoyed the treats, and I like that there were six different toys this month. Plus, some of the toys are hard to find online, and they’re not the same ones you get in every cat subscription box. That’s been the real value of KitNipBox for us – unique toys with interesting textures that appeal to my cats.

Oh dang you got some good toys! I received a bag of cat nip and litter box liners along with a few toys for mine this month. Unfortunately it pushed me over to the cancel category for this box.

I subscribe to the small box and hope it includes the wine bottle and the mouse, both of which would be big hits with my cats, I think. My cats did NOT like the August box. This box looks a lot better.

I used to buy those cosmic country cat nip pouches at Petsmart, but it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen them there. There is good quality nip in there, my cats love them.
