Splendid Ashton Satchel - $128.00 (on sale for $96.00)

This bag arrived fully protected with plastic, tissue paper, and all of the necessary items to ship a handbag and have it arrive in perfect condition. This satchel measures 16-1/4"W 9-1/4"H x 6"D, and has an inside zip pocket, two open pockets on the opposite side from the zip pocket (one is usually for a cell phone, but I never know what to shove in the other...usually my chewing gum ends up there so it doesn't spill all over my bag), and a zip pocket on the outside. How cute is that tassel and suede detail on the bottom?

Here's a quick snapshot about the bag's brand:

It all started with the quest for the ultimate t-shirt. On that journey we discovered a love for softness in every form. From the fabric you wear, to the moments you create. It's this philosophy that drives the way we do things.

At Splendid we believe in bringing people together. In good company and great conversation. We believe in taking time to enjoy the little things and more importantly celebrate the big things. We think that people should cherish every moment. Live it up. Laugh out loud. Play a little. We believe that home is truly where the heart is and that you should be able to bring a little piece of it with you everywhere you go. That's why what we create fits seamlessly into your life. Filled with color, softness, and a hint of playfulness. It's casual, but polished. So no matter what you're doing you always look as good as you feel in these moments.

I love these pockets. I use this for my cell phone and my key for easy access!

Check out that super cute lining! The lining inside the bag makes it really easy to spot anything you're looking for, and it is made of a heavy duty fabric that will stand the test of time.

Here's a look at how I used the bag for a day look. I kept it pretty simple with my Everlane tee, a Vince Camuto pencil skirt, and my Toms ballet flats. The crossbody strap does extend further, I just had it pretty short!

This is everything I was able to fit in the bag, with plenty of room to spare I might say. I wouldn't add a lot more, just because this made the bag pretty heavy!

I always like to see how a bag looks for me when I'm looking down, so I've included one here for you. You can really see the white stitching here, which is a great accent to the bag.

I have to be very honest, I am so awkward when taking pictures. I literally said to my husband "I don't know what to do with my face." Next month, I'll try to smile more, but I was definitely trying not to laugh here.

This is my evening look; my Theory sweater (I was headed to church, and even though it's super hot outside still, the inside of our sanctuary is always like the North Pole), a Uniqlo pleated skirt, and Cole Haan suede pumps.

Verdict: I think this subscription has potential, but I also think there is potential to mislead people based on the brands they mention on their front page vs. the brands they're sending right now. The brands they advertise are Michael Kors, Cole Haan, Vince Camuto, Fossil, Kate Spade, Sam Edelman, LeSportSac, and Jessica Simpson (a wide variety of price points there). My bag this month was from a more recognizable brand than last month, which is great.

I loved my bag this month. It's the perfect bag for fall and winter, with the suede accents and the on trend tassel (which is removable). The lining is super cute, and the style is one that I will use regularly. I've been carrying this bag exclusively since I received it, which is impressive since I love my current everyday bag.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Do they have a customer service phone number? My order says it shipped 5 days ago and the tracking info says no tracking info available. I have emailed them 3 times, done their online chat, and nothing. I get no response at all. I am about to dispute the charge with my bank because I question whether this is a legit company now. Very frustrated!

Their website is deceiving, the front page clearly states “100% Refund & Returns”, however in the FAQ it says returns are only for damaged products. I understand why they don’t do returns, but that seems pretty shady!!!

Bekki

That does seem shady! I never noticed that before.

I really wanted to try this sub but they don’t deliver to Hawaii; faux leather is perfect here unless you want mildew eating up your bag in a month or two. Any other bag sub suggestions?

You do style well!

I believe JustFab has handbags and shoes monthly for near the same price.

Unfortunately I don’t know any other bag subscriptions! I would check the directory – maybe there’s something there?

Thank you!!

Onyx

Hi! Can you please tell me what the bag is made of? You mentioned suede accents, is the bag made from leather? Or that pleather/vegan leather stuff? Nothing in the article mentions it. Thanks.

Bekki

Hi Onyx, the link to Macy’s in the review gives a breakdown of the bag, but it is faux suede and faux leather. It is very high quality though, it looks real.

Onyx

Darn, from the look of it I was hoping it was real. Ok, thanks!

I LOVE this bag! I would be thrilled to get it. But last months bag….not so much. Years ago I would have been all over a handbag subscription but now I feel I would rather save up and buy one that I pick out. You look great in your pics!

Bekki

Thank you!!! I really love this bag too, I was so happy with it.

I like how you styled this bag, Bekki! Also, so helpful to see what fits in there. 🙂

Great review! I used to order a lot of purses on ebay and half the time I did not have a good idea of the actual size of the bag and would end up disappointed because it was smaller than I realized so seeing bags reviewed like this great. I really want to try a purse sub. Im afraid it will reopen the floodgates of my bag obsession though. I’ve been doing good with just 2 purses for the last 18 months

Cute bag. I love when they have those outside pockets that zip. and this one seems very roomy. you look cute if both of your pics. 🙂

Bekki

It really is roomy! I love this bag – I think it will be a great addition to my collection.

Thank you, you are too sweet. I always feel awkward taking pictures – I’m much more comfortable with the goofy filters on snapchat, where I’m really trying to NOT look good. hahahahah….
