The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.

The Subscription Box: Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box

The Cost: $15 a month or $25 a month, depending on which size you subscribe to (PayPal only)

The Products: The $25 a month box includes 4-6 full size Glamorous Chicks Cosmetic beauty products, including loose mineral pigments, liquid lipsticks, mascara, loose glitter, and more. Occasionally there may be products from up-and-coming brands, as well. The $15 a month box includes 1-3 full size Glamorous Chicks Cosmetic beauty products.

Ships to: US (free)

Good to Know: A week or two before the box ships out, you will get an e-mail allowing you to choose three items from among lipsticks, lip glosses, mascaras, loose powder pigments, and glitters. Be on the lookout for this and be sure to respond in a timely manner as the box will be much more customized to your taste if you do. (They may substitute if something is out of stock, but the substitutions they have chosen are really super close to what I originally picked, so I am happy.) This email doesn’t come at a consistent time every month, though.

The box is somewhat customized so there isn’t a traditional information card.

Glamorous Chicks Sensitive Mascara in Black – Value $14

I figured it was time I tried one of their mascaras. I have sensitive eyes and I wear contact lenses, so my eyes are easily irritated. I am happy to report that this was non-irritating and also easy to remove. (It is not waterproof, although they do offer a waterproof version.) It did not create a dramatic look, but it was something that would be good for everyday wear to an office job or a more natural look.

Da Vinci USA 100% Human Hair False Lashes (black, #20) – Value $2.42

This is the second month in a row I have gotten false lashes from this box, although these are a different style than last time. I don’t have a clue how to apply false lashes but perhaps I should learn. (If you are not interested in wearing false lashes yourself, you could always donate them to a cancer patient since eyelashes can fall out during chemotherapy.)

Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare 4-in-1 Combing Crème (0.5 fl oz) – Value $0.63

I get the impression that this product is mainly marketed for use by women of color. However, the product includes ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, and jojoba oil, and this worked just fine as a conditioner for my dry, Caucasian hair. Plus, in general, I do like Carol’s Daughter hair products (the monoi repairing shampoo and conditioner in particular).

Luster’s Pink Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Moisturizing and Silkening Conditioner (0.75 fl oz) – Value $0.50

This is another product from a line that appears to be aimed at women of color. But, this has shea butter, coconut oil, and olive oil, all of which work very well to condition my hair. I will save this for sometime when I travel because I seem to have accumulated a lot of shampoo foils but not many conditioner foils.

Nicka K Nail Enamel in Plumeria (0.5 fl oz, full size) – Value $1

In all my years getting beauty subscription boxes, I think this is my first Nicka K nail polish. I like the color (in general, I am a fan of bright, bold nail colors) and I know I have at least one or two glitter topcoats that will go well with this.

Glamorous Chicks Matte Lipstick in Red Martini (full size) – Value $14.99

I really like the formula of the Glamorous Chicks lipsticks; it’s moisturizing and highly pigmented. This one isn’t *quite* as dark on as it looks (swatch below). Sorry no photo of my lips with this review but I had a really bad cold when I took these photos and my lips were all dried out and icky. (Yes, I am pale, and I totally wear dark colors like this.)

Glamorous Chicks Shimmer Powder in “Venus” (2.35 g) – Value $14.95

When I get the Glamorous Chicks monthly product selection emails, I often have a certain color in mind. This month it was pink, but not a pastel color – I wanted something more vibrant. This color was exactly what I was looking for. (For reference, these are loose mineral pigments. I think this one would work as a blush, especially on darker skin tones, and as an eye shadow the formula wears similarly to Orglamix loose pigments.)

Here are swatches of the lipstick (top) and shimmer powder (bottom). A little blurry, but they give you a good idea of the colors, at any rate.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $48.49 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. That is definitely a better deal than purchasing items individually in their shop, and almost twice the cost of the subscription. I am happy with my item choices for the month and the other products (foils, nail polish, etc.) included. I like that I can get bold and/or interesting colors of lipstick here that don’t show up in other beauty boxes, and I am building quite the collection of loose powder pigments.

Heads up for anyone who subscribes — the product selection email arrived in my inbox this morning, so be on the lookout!

I’m confused. When I go to sign up, it says I have to have a pay pal account, yet below that is a place to put my credit card info. I don’t use pay pal, so am I allowed to sign up just using my credit card info? Thanks for any help!

I actually don’t remember now because it’s been awhile since I signed up. At the time I did sign up, I’m pretty sure PayPal was the only way I could. I think.

But I would definitely recommend getting a PayPal account. It’s free and only takes a minute. You can just put a credit card there (you don’t even have to give them your bank account information although they will sure try to get you to) and then you can cancel recurring payments there, including for subscriptions that don’t have easy online cancellations from your account on the subscription sites.

Thanks for the PayPal tips Ragan! I also wanted to sign up for a sub (to a different box) that required a PayPal account (despite a disclaimer stating one wasn’t needed). But since I’m not familiar with PayPal, that requirement stopped me from subbing. Now that I know how easy it is to manage my account (especially cancelling subs!… I always hated having to email so much), I won’t be so wary next time.

Even though I don’t wear much makeup, this sub looks pretty interesting.

I hope you’re feeling better! 🙂

Thanks so much for the info! I did it! I wanted to sign up before, but the pay pal thing stopped me last time, but I went ahead this time. I’ve been wanting a sub with some COLOR, and this one looks like so much fun.

I use false eyelashes for costuming, and those look super luxurious–and really cheap for how nice they look.

So I assume this was the $15 box?

Ragan

This was the $25 box. Sorry, I’ll make that clearer next time.
