Each month comes with a booklet filled with images and artwork and information. September's theme is Cats!

Neko No Hajime No Ippo T-Shirt - Value $15?

This is a Doki Doki exclusive tee. The phrase means "the cat's first step" and accurately describes the clumsy kittens that appear to be falling off a precipice. My boyfriend likes the baby blue color and claims it is soft and comfortable. He's a fan of the design too.

Julie Plushie - $10?

Julie is the newest member of the Doki Doki family. She wears a pillbox hat and has super unique eyelashes. I like her fluffy whiskers and tail.

She has a Parisian vibe going on. What a chic cat!

Monthly Hoppe-Chan - Value $3?

This month's Hoppe-chan collectible is wearing cat ears and a tail to keep in line with the September "cat" theme.

Shikakui Koneko Coin Purse - Value $5?

This is a coin purse shaped like a square cat. Subscribers receive one of eight styles. I'm loving my mint-colored one.

The purse retains its cubic shape and is small enough to carry around in my medium to large bags.

Pusheen Laptop Decal - Value $2?

This is a glossy decal of Pusheen using a laptop (maybe watching cat videos?). I love collecting stickers so this is perfect!

Pusheen Beanie - Value $14.80?

Subscribers received a Pusheen beanie, a cat ear beanie, or a pair of exclusive Pusheen socks. I'm very pleased with my Pusheen beanie. It's identical in size to the beanie in the Winter 2015 Pusheen Box. It feels strange to see a winter item in the box since it is still quite warm where I live. That said, I would gladly receive a winter item too early than too late! I based the value on a very similar item here.

Verdict: I loved the theme this month! The t-shirt was a win and all the items felt cohesive. They also did a great job easing me into this new, improved subscription style. I preferred last month's box slightly more just because they included more functional items. This isn't to say I dislike coin purses and stickers, but rather, I am expecting more functional or big-ticket things now that Doki Doki is emphasizing quality over quantity. I estimated the retail value to be $50. Alternatively you can think of it as paying $8.33 per item.

What do you think of the changes to Doki Doki? What Pusheen item did you get?

What size t shirt is your boyfriend wearing? And what size does he usually wear? Or better yet if you don’t mind telling me your measurements and what size fits you. I’m curious of what size i might need to order with my subscription. Thank you so much ❤

It’s worth noting that Doki Doki received a lot of complaints about the plush, and this box in general. They were offering $7 credit towards your next crate for those who wished to return the plush..theread was a post on their FB page.

I cancelled my subscription after this box too. I actually subscribed because of the reviews on mysubscriptionaddiction.com. After this review where they do not even mention the problems with the plush (really $10 value?!?) and seemed to “love it”, I think I just lost respect for this website. I understand they are paid or given these boxes for free to review them, but this review does not seem genuine. Some subscribers didn’t even receive the beanie but socks instead which left some subscribers feeling they received a box with a lesser value. They also do not give out 8-10 items but switched to giving fewer items (I think 5-7) of “better quality”. You might want to update that on your review.

This is one of the reasons why I cancelled Doki Doki Crate. When they first started out and I think it was their 2nd or 3rd box that was filled with knock-offs. People complained about the items not being authentic and they offered refunds for complete and unopened items. I didn’t see the blog until a month or so after and my then I couldn’t return anything. This was posted on some blog, and not any of their social medias which irritated my soul. I like Japan Crate in general, but they need to be more open with their customers.

On the other hand, I would have loved to get that shirt and beanie. Both items are so cute!

Wow. Really? Woulda been nice to tell their subscribers. They just lost a pretty loyal customer.

Kayley (Monthly Box Hub)

As a cat lover, I like this month’s box a lot. I agree with Jen that some of the items seem cheap, but that’s my impression of many of these boxes…this month actually seemed higher quality to me, especially with the Pusheen roulette and the t-shirt.

I actually cancelled my sub after I received this 1. The Julie plush was such a generic carnival toy and the paws on the coin purse were glued on. I am usually very satisfied with this box.
