DegustaBox includes a full breakdown of the box value wise, along with a little bit about each product. This month they also included a little extra about the aloe vera drink in the box, and a sheet with some games on it!

They also include recipes for using some of the items in the box. This month the recipe was for the ratatouille sauce.

BustaNUT! Bourbon Flavored and Maple Bacon Flavored Peanuts - Value $3.16

The bourbon flavored nuts are addictive. They were slightly sweet and salty - seriously everything I would want in a flavored peanut. The maple bacon nuts, according to my friend that tried them, were the perfect mix of sweet maple and smoky bacon.

Michel et Augustin Shortbread Cookies - Sea Salt Flavored and Chocolate Chip Flavored - Value $3.98

I love anything shortbread. Does it have butter, sugar, and flour in it? I'm there! These were really good shortbread cookies. I enjoyed the traditional shortbread more than the chocolate chip, but that's just because I'm a shortbread purist. DegustaBox let us know that all subscribers received at least one box, but that over half of subscribers randomly received two boxes.

The English Provender Co. Caramelized Red Onion Chutney - Listed Value $2.45

This is delicious. I love caramelized onions, so a caramelized onion chutney is always going to be a winner in my book. I used this (and the chutney and curd below) with some biscuits, and it was the perfect vehicle.

The English Provender Co. Sweet Tomato and Chili Chutney - Listed Value $2.45

Tomatoes are another favorite of mine. This chutney has a nice sweetly roasted tomato flavor, with the gentle kick of the chili. This is again, the perfect accoutrement to some buttered biscuits for breakfast!

The English Provender Co. Luxury Lemon Curd - Listed Value $2.45

Lemon curd is my crepe topping of choice. I also use it on scones, since we don't have clotted cream many places here! This is a really good lemon curd. It's smooth, tart, and sweet all at the same time.

Toosum Gluten Free Oatmeal Bar - Cranberry & Acai Flavor - Value $1.49

I was not a fan of this bar. It kind of tasted like cranberry and oatmeal paste to me.

Nando's Peri-Peri Sauce - Value $3.49

This peri-peri sauce is made with African bird's eye chili and has lemon, garlic, onion, and spiced added in. I really enjoyed this on eggs in the morning!

Sparkling Bitters - White Peach Flavor - Listed Value $1.99

DegustaBox has these listed as $1.99 each, but the Amazon price is quite a bit more. Either way, I really enjoyed this bottle of sparkling water with bitters added. It tasted like peach, but with none of the super sugary artificial flavor.

Hak's Paks One Pot Cooking Sauce - Rustic Ratatouille - Listed Value $3.99

This ratatouille sauce is created with roasted tomatoes, herbs de provence and zucchini.

degustabox-september-2016-bowl

I used the ratatouille sauce with some sautéed eggplant, asparagus, and zucchini. It took maybe 10 minutes for the vegetables to get to my desired doneness in the sauce. It was delicious!

Sam Mills Gluten Free Corn & Quinoa Pasta - Listed Value $2.39

Disclaimer: I do not eat gluten-free, so I am used to normal, gluten filled pasta. This pasta was a bit chewy, and didn't cook through completely. The taste wasn't bad though. I used this with some homemade tomato sauce, and topped it with parmesan cheese.

Entenmann's Little Bites - Chocolate Chip Muffin - Value $0.60

I am a huge fan of any kind of bread item from Entenmann's. Their cheese danish is never safe in my presence. These muffins are great. I think they would go perfect in school lunches for sure.

degustabox-september-2016-plated

Here's my pasta that I made with the gluten free pasta. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture, but the flavor was pretty great!

degustabox-september-2016-oats

popCORNers Carnival Kettle Corn Chips -  Value $2.91

These are popped corn chips that are kettle corn flavored. I've received these in multiple boxes and I enjoy them but I don't love them!

Honey Bunches of Oats - Crunchy Honey Roasted - Value $3.40

This was included in my box, but not included on the info card. DegustaBox let us know all subscribers received this product as a gift. I enjoy Honey Bunches of Oats over vanilla ice cream but since I'm supposed to be watching my calories, I use almond milk and it's excellent.

Verdict: Degustabox always has a great value for the cost of the box. This month, the value is $34.96 if you include the second box of Michel et Augustin Shortbread Cookies and Honey Bunches of Oats cereal ($29.36 if you do not). They also include a wide variety of food items, which is fun and different from most other boxes. I think part of the appeal of this box to me is the randomness of it all - you get pasta, sauce, chips, and cereal (actually, that kind of sounds like a haul at the grocery store for me...).

She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Just got the October box – at least I think it was the October box – was shipped 9/24/16 and it just got here today – only 4 states over from VA??? It is my first box and I am really not impressed. For them classifying the it a box of new products – the only things that I haven’t been seeing in the stores for some time now is the pumpkin pie Jones soda and the Wasa flats. I guess I will give it another month to see.

Britt?

That’s an odd name for a food box.. ? For some reason I kept thinking, “Dis-gusta”. Hopefully it was just my whacky brain. xo.?

I subscribed for the $6.99 deal for the first box. My credit card has been billed but my box is still showing that it’s being packed. My credit card was billed on September 1st. I did cancel for future boxes but was considering resuming once I saw how great this review was BUT since my box hasn’t even shipped yet, I doubt I will. I don’t want to deal with shipping issues every month. The box looks amazing, I’d enjoy most everything in it I believe. Maybe they’re punishing me for canceling? lol

I emailed CS and got a very quick response from someone namedChristopher. He was very polite. He explained that the orders received in Sept start with the Oct box. I ordered at the very beginning of Sept so it made a longer wait for me. He added points to my acct (I’m not familiar with their point system). I most likely will continue this subscription. I received the Oct box today and I can’t believe they can send so much food only 19.99 a month. Great box, great CS.

This box was a lot more interesting to me than last months, because there weren’t any products I’d had before (except honey bunches of oats, of course 🙂 ). OR course, that also meant that there were some ‘misses’ for me this month, unlike last month, where I liked everything. Still, it felt like a good box, and there were some good things in there. I’m a little sad I only got the one box of cookies, seeing that some people got two, but it’s not a big thing. I’m looking forward to next months box.

This is actually a really good box for the price though. I highly recommend it and decided to keep with it despite that I didn’t care for this box. Come on, OCT. Degusta- be good to me!

I just realized…my first box was ruined because the bitters spilled over everything. But in that box, I got a jar of cinnamon Jif peanut butter (small 12 oz jar). I didn’t get that sleep spray or the extra cookies, but I don’t know if anyone else got the peanut butter.

I’m hoping the new box has more peanut butter in it! They can leave the bitters out LOL.

I only got one little box of shortbread. I was most impressed with the first box. I cancelled after this month.

I’m surprised this box doesn’t have better reviews and a following. I have gotten the last 3 boxes and always love most things. I think they pack it so cute and the shipping alone has to be crazy. I know they probably get a deal with all shipping but the boxes have been close to 10 pounds everytime.
I see sooo many snack, candy, and other boxes are sending out 5 to 6 items for $20, $30 and all the way up $50+ for items that are similar.I can’t believe that they give these away for 9.95. But thats just me and I also know that there are somethings I won’t eat and I will give away.I do think they have a mix of different brands and products and the box is packed so nice with all kinds of info and coupons. I think they ate foing a good job or trying anyhow.
I have tried to get a few family members to sign up for the deal, plus if 2 different people sign up then I get a free box too. But I was more excited to share the great deal. Anyway know one cared and jumped on my train. Ohh welllll.

I’m impressed with it! I like it enough to keep subscribing for $20 a month. Good value and a great assortment!

Don’t like the inconsistency of some random customers receiving two boxes. Their customer service folks are rude too. Last month’s box was a much better box, but of course it was sold out.

magoosmom

Oh wow! I had a good experience with their customer service. My first box, the bitters spilled over everything. I let them know and got a quick response, and a box shipped out that same day. Slower shipping, but I am really impressed overall for the value and the assortment of items.

I can find most of these in the store. All but a few I have seen in stores.

Everything was amazing except the snack bar it tasted the way playdoh smells. So nasty I threw it away.

I thought the same thing! I felt like I was 3 again and eating Play-Doh lol.

I was pleasantly surprised and excited to receive and open this box. There were a few items that weren’t for me like the peri-peri sauce but my dad has been enjoying it. I may try it on eggs as suggested above.

The bitters soda was a hugh miss for my family, no one liked it at all. Even my dad that will eat everything “give it to Mikey, he’ll eat it”, couldn’t drink it. At first my mom and I were most excited to try it and cracked it open right away. Smelled lovely but the taste…ewww!

Looking forward to trying the rest. Will give the pasta to my gluten-free friend, she always appreciates it.

Keeping the subscription another month, to see what else they send. : )

Does any of the items have directions for use? I have no idea what to do with those little jars or the peri-peri sauce.

I’m thinking this will be my first box, I got in on the $6.99 deal for a first box (not sure I would want to pay $20 for this? I can get much more items at our grocery for $20)

Peri-peri is a good hot sauce. I use it in chili or bbq. You could sub it for tabasco or the like. A little goes a long way.

WendyM

I received the exact same box (w/both cookies). It was my first box. I think it’s ok so far- but not very exciting. I’ll end up giving away some of the items (cereal, gluten free pasta) that I’m not interested in eating.
