Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

They have done away with the traditional information card and instead included this card with some discounts and promos on it. I kind of miss the old cards.

bulu-box-weight-loss-september-2016-coupons

There were also a few coupons for other products/services.

Good to know: There was a shipping error this month and I actually received identical boxes for Bulu Box regular and Bulu Box weight loss. I contacted their customer service (heard back in about a day) and they re-sent the weight loss box, which is what I’m reviewing here.

bulu-box-weight-loss-september-2016-bars

Bhu Fit Vegan Protein Bar in Peanut Butter + Chocolate Chip (1.6 oz) – Value $3.25

Bhu Fit Primal Protein Bar in Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond (1.6 oz) – Value $3.25

These are both low in sugar and have good amounts of fiber and protein (all qualities I look for in a protein bar). They were a little small but non-sticky and non-crumbly. The “primal” bar had whey protein from grass-fed cows. Both bars were vegetarian. I split these with my husband and we both kind of liked the vegan one better, which is unusual for us! (We also got these in the regular Bulu Box this month but I am happy to have more.)

bulu-box-weight-loss-september-2016-gummies

Movit Energy Gummies (citrus flavor, 1 oz) – Value $1.50

Movit Energy Gummies (berry flavor, 1 oz) – Value $1.50

Although these were both marked as one ounce, there were definitely more in the citrus packet.  The product page on Bulu Box’s website says these are supposed to be energy gummies that aren’t “just packed full of sugar.” But, one serving has 13 grams of sugar, which is actually quite a lot. They also have vitamin C, some B vitamins, caffeine, CoQ10, and taurine (common ingredients in “energy” supplements). Unfortunately I was unable to try them because they have gelatin in them so they are not vegetarian.  I’ve dropped them off on the “free snacks” table at work.

bulu-box-weight-loss-september-2016-rub

Mr. Hyde Cutz in Blue Razz (1 serving) – Value $1.66

This is a sustained release cutting formula with caffeine and some other fat loss and diuretic compounds (read about bulking and cutting here; it’s not really something that I am interested in – slow recomposition is more my style – but a lot of people do it so it is a good product to include in this type of box).

Earth’s Care Muscle and Joint Rub (2.5 oz) – Value $15.99

Often, you will get a full size product in a Bulu Box. This month, I received this muscle and joint rub. It’s nice when the most expensive product in the box is something useful. It also has arnica for bruises; I do have some kettlebell-induced bruises right now but after only using this once, it’s hard to say what effect it is having. This also has camphor, eucalyptus, and wintergreen, which should all help with muscle aches. This is not tested on animals but does contain beeswax so it is not vegan.

bulu-box-weight-loss-september-2016-tea

Miracle Tree Chocolate Moringa Tea – Value $0.30

Miracle Tree Honey and Vanilla Moringa Tea – Value $0.30

Miracle Tree Strawberry Moringa Tea – Value $0.30

I’m familiar with this product from other subscription boxes. Moringa is a superfood from South and Central Asia that has anti-inflammatory properties and is full of antioxidants. Various parts of the tree are consumed and/or used in beauty products. I am not the biggest fan of plain moringa, but I actually found that I enjoyed the honey and vanilla tea quite a bit, and the chocolate also covered up the moringa flavor somewhat. So perhaps that is the way to go for me in the future.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $28.05 for the September Bulu Box Weight Loss version. I only paid 99 cents for this box thanks to the MYSUB99 coupon code so the return in value is phenomenal. Even though not every product was for me, the most expensive item was a win, I do like the bars, and I am always up for trying new teas, so I was happy. (Plus I can review items for points and use those to buy items in their shop, like Quest Bars and PB2, that I would purchase anyway.)

My box was the same except I got a bottle of Charlotte’s Web hemp oil instead of the muscle rub thing. I haven’t tried it yet, though. I love this box. I’ve been subscribing for a long time and the boxes just keep getting better for me. I got 9 items this last box, and between my husband and me, we demolish the boxes every month. LOVE THEM.

The only thing my box had in common with yours were the bars. Besides that, I got 7 days worth of a prebiotic supplement, three different tea bags to try, and one day’s pack of a group of vitamins. Really disappointing compared to your box. I would have loved to get the muscle rub for my husband who has a bad back. This was my first box ever from Bulu, so I’ll give it another month or so before deciding if I’m going to keep it, but so far not great.

I got that same box for the regular Bulu Box this month. (This review is for the weight loss version.) That review is here:

I got this exact same box, although I cashed on some of my points and received double the amount of stuff.
My husband is crazy about that tea and I love that muscle rub. Not a fan of those protein bars, however I’m very hard to please when it comes to protein bars. I use the Movit gummies for when I’m really craving something sweet, plus they’re a good mid afternoon pick-me-up.
What I love about Bulubox is that you can review each item and receive $1 to use in their shop (like Birchbox used to do) and often times you get more than just the advertised 5 items. Considering I paid $4.5 per box for a yearly subscription, I often get more money back in points! I can then either use my points to upgrade a box or to order something nice. We often get Flapjack protein pancakes which are our favorite.

Kettlebell bruises are the worst! I finally gave in and got some wrist protectors and they’ve helped a lot, but I’d be interested in knowing if that muscle rub works for you 🙂

My box was different. Sometimes I’d get a card with that months box. I always got stale stuff every month for 6 months. I canceled. Everything I bought with my points was almost stale or stale. I want buy from them ever especially since I cashed in my final points and got very very stale Gum. I put my 5 dollars towards a Birchbox.

I wish I had gotten the rub! I do appreciate the info on the te because I had never heard of it. I personally did not like the bars so I gave them to hubby who is less picky than I; he didn’t like them either. This month was not great for me… I’ll stick it out though because overall bulu is my favorite subscription box of the ones i get.
