Each month, you’ll be receiving timely comics from numerous different publishers. They can range from super-popular titles, Like Batman or Avengers, to little-known titles.
Each delivery comes with an information sheet, too. You can read about each issue and what the BlindBox Comics team thought of the issue. You’ll also find out about the BlindVariant at the bottom – it’ll detail the rarity for each variant.
Jeff Steinberg Champion of Earth #1 – Value $4.99
I’m starting the review with my easy favorite of the month. While all other issues had a serious tone, this one was the exact opposite, and I love it. Alien invasion, comical presidents, and a “loser” chosen to save Earth – sounds like a good combo, and it is. Give it a try!
Lady Killer V2 #1 – Value $3.99
This one is definitely for mature audiences only, if you couldn’t tell from the cover. This is kind of like a female Dexter! I think that might be all I need to say – if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll have a blast with this title.
Briggs Land #1 – Value $3.99
This one reads like an episode of a police/detective drama tv show. For me, it wasn’t too gripping of a read – it felt like a story I had watched numerous times. But, this is being developed into an AMC TV Show, so it might be worth giving it a second try.
Briggs Land, nearly a hundred square miles of rural wilderness, contains the largest antigovernment secessionist movement in the United States. When matriarch Grace Briggs wrests control of the operation from her incarcerated husband, she sparks a war within the community…and her immediate family…that threatens to bring the full power of the federal government down on their heads. Perfect for fans of Sons of Anarchy and Justified!
Eden’s Fall #1 – Value $3.99
I really enjoyed the artwork of this issue, but, again, wasn’t totally gripped with this read.
SERIES PREMIERE! Top Cow combines three of its most provocative titles (THINK TANK, THE TITHE, POSTAL) in an unflinching fable of revenge and consequence. FBI Agent James Miller (THE TITHE) follows a sociopath into the off-the-grid town of Eden, Wyoming on a personal mission of vengeance. The price of this vigilante justice will be paid in blood, and both Eden and James Miller will never be the same.
Black Monday Murders #1 – Value $4.99
This is another intriguing title from Image comics. It’s kind of all over the place – a lot is going on with this one. BlindBox Comics describes it as Watchmen-like due to its dense content – I agree.
“MAMMON” ALL HAIL GOD MONEY! From JONATHAN HICKMAN (EAST OF WEST, Secret Wars, Avengers) and TOMM COKER (UNDYING LOVE) comes a new crypto-noir series about the power of dirty, filthy money… and exactly what kind of people you can buy with it. THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS is classic occultism where the various schools of magic are actually clandestine banking cartels who control all of society: a secret world where vampire Russian oligarchs, Black popes, enchanted American aristocrats, and hitmen from the International Monetary Fund work together to keep ALL OF US in our proper place.
Indoctrination #1 – Value $3.99
This month’s BlindVariant is a comic that reads incredibly similar to True Detective Season 1! How could I not be interested in following up on this issue!
There are three different variants this month: Full Color (I received this) limited to 150 copies, Partial Sketch Blank limited to 75 copies, and Embossed Artist Series limited to only 23 signed copies! I’ve seen the super-rare variant listed at $100 on eBay, but unlike last month, none have sold just yet.
Verdict: Blindbox Comics is easy my favorite comic subscription. I’m routinely given cool and obscure titles to try (obscure to me, of course). Not only that – their BlindVariants are becoming more and more coveted as they release super-rare editions – this helps with the value of the box if you’re looking to win on that front.
