benevolent-beauty-august-2016-info-1

Every box includes a folded info card.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-info-2

The inside of the card provides details about each item and the retail values. I think it’s cool that they use a mark to indicate every item that is also vegan.

Cougar Products Mineral Blush Powder in “Punch” – 7g, value: $19.93

This is a really pretty blush! There’s a lot of product in here, too. This container would last me a super long time. The color is a warm, matte shade that I think would flatter many different complexions.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-2

yourMInerals Setting Powder – value: $21

Setting powder is a product I just don’t feel like my makeup is actually done without! I gently brush it over my face after I’ve done everything else and it just helps to set your makeup, which helps it last all day. This powder gave a matte finish. You can also just use it on clean skin if you don’t wear makeup/aren’t wearing a full-face that day for help with mattifying.

Red Apple Lipstick, in Plum Sexy Crazy - 0.16 oz, value: $23.50

This lipstick is listed in the info booklet as a bonus item this month, FYI. Benevolent Beauty Box has totally made me love this brand. I’ve gotten a few colors via this sub and I’m happy with every one so far. This one, “Plum Sexy Crazy,” is a red/plum color with some multi-dimensional shimmer to it. It’s a shade that would work for any skin tone, and it’s buildable so you can control the intensity/pigment.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-4

Here’s a swatch for you. It’s a very pretty shade and perfect for being a little bolder as we head into Fall without being vampy.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-5

Nvey Eco Eyeshadow, in “Mystique” - .052 oz, value: $17.99

This eyeshadow is a cooler, shimmery brown shade. It has really great pigmentation and blends fabulously! I was really happy with the performance of this.

Bellapierre Vanilla Bean Lip Balm – value: $10

This lip balm smells good and feels fantastic on. I really don’t like lip balms in pots because I don’t like having my fingers in it and with whatever is on my hands ending up on my lips, but I love this formula so much I’m making an exception – I’m keeping it my makeup bag to moisturize my lips while I do my makeup, which means I’m using it fresh from the shower anyway. I love applying a lip balm first thing when I start my makeup because it hydrates and preps my lips for lipstick (my finishing touch)!

Here’s a close up and swatch of the shadow for you.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-7

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Locked Stain, in "Lucky"– 0.18 oz, value: $24

This is a lip primer/gloss/stain all in one. It’s a long-wearing, hydrating formula. The shade Lucky is very wearable – it’s a “nude petal pink.” Here’s a fun tip: for a more matte finish, use your finger to pat on some of the setting powder!

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-8

Here, I’m wearing the eyeshadow, setting powder, blush, and Red Apple Lipstick. I like how they sent pretty much a complete look! All of the colors go really well together into one color story.

benevolent-beauty-august-2016-items-9

And a close up!

Eyes: I’m wearing the Envey shadow from this box all over my lid (with some shadows from my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for the crease and outer corners, plus Blackout in that palette as my eyeliner). I liked a subtler look with this shadow, though the pigmentation is good so you can definitely work it into a bolder or smoky look! My mascara is Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara.

Face: From this box, I’m wearing the Cougar blush and the setting powder. My other face make up includes Stila’s One Step Correct 3-in-1 Primer and Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick.

Lip: For this look I wore the Red Apple lipstick in “Plum Sexy Crazy” that was featured in this box.

Verdict: Benevolent Beauty has definitely become one of my top beauty boxes! The quality and colors of items they send out are always fantastic. Plus, the value has been amazing every time – this month adds up to $116.42 which is fantastic, and right around what I’m used to for this sub. I always find some great new products and know I will use every item.

Looks great, as do you! I’m very happy to see Red Apple in a sub box, they have great lipsticks and glosses.

P.S., are you wearing the Manna K Lip Locked Stain, Lucky, in your pic below the tube, or is that the Red Apple lipstick? (and is it still a lipstick ‘tube’ if the shape is square? haha) It’s pretty either way, just curious because it looks different on you than on me- more mauve-pink and a bit glossy/shimmery (mine also came from a sub box, Lip Monthly IIRC, but mine looks less pink and more matte/cream, exactly like the swatch on their site). Still love it! 🙂

Does anyone know what is in the mini box and how they decide what comes in that box?

Alyce

Does anyone know what items were in the mini box? Does the smaller box usually contain the same items, only fewer, of the larger box?

Looks good…I would cancel Allure.

Crystal

The mini box has the same items as the full size just not all of the items in the full size box. Hope that helps ?

Steph M.

Right, but which items?

….hence the ‘Addiction’ part of MSA, lol! Welcome to the club, this place is a constant threat to my wallet for sure 🙂 Although, actually, I’ve probably saved more than I’ve
lost in the long run, with all the great reviews & spoilers I don’t jump so quickly anymore, sight unseen 😛

I meant for this to be a reply to my previous message below.

They were on waitlist for a while, I just got in! I ordered the smaller box. I used MSA15 and subscribed for 6 months, it ended up being a little over $11 a month! Go get one now while they’re open!

I’ve never heard of this box. I’ve had to look for a new subscription. Just looking at your review was great. I could use all of the colors. It really could work on all asking tones. I had E.l.f and Essence. Since they both stop their boxes on the hunt for a good box!
Thanks for the review.

Liz, you have very blond brows. Would you like a free brow product from ID? It’s the one everyone raves about. I can’t use it and haven’t opened it.

Haley Faye

Ann, you’re sweet, but no thanks! I’ve got a surplus of brow products thanks to subscription boxes. 🙂 I am currently using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and love it.
Thanks for your generosity and for reading!

I love Benevolent Beauty. I haven’t received a box I haven’t adored, and I’ve been able to use every single product. <3

Wonderful review Hailey! You & I have the same coloring, pale w/auburn hair, and I have the hardest time finding lip colors that work for me. I’ve accumulated a serious lipstick graveyard! Both of the lippies in this box look great on you, as did everything else, so I’m going to give them a try. This Sub sounds nice too, I’m adding it to my list of hopefuls…there IS a budget. I appreciate all the photos & the additional info on all the products you’re wearing in them.
Does anyone know if I sign up this month, will I get this box? Thanks!!

My goodness, this box just gets better every month! Way to go, Benevolent!

Thank you, Haley, for posting how to wear it too – this is an excellent review!

Wow! That is a beautiful look!

This was definitely another great box from Benevolent Beauty!

Current subscribers got to pick their bonus item for the August box (the choices were items from past boxes), and I chose the Dermadeli vitamin C serum… (between Benevolent Beauty & other boxes I now have 4 of this serum! But I chose this knowing that would be the case… I can’t say no to a good serum!).

Also, thank you for listing the other makeup items you were wearing, that didn’t come in this box!
