Now onto the items!

ERNO LASZLO Phelityl Cleansing Bar – (17g/ 0.6oz.) Value $5

beautyfix_092016-010

I love getting Erno Laszlo soaps in subscription boxes, but these samples are SO tiny! This facial cleansing soap has a really subtle and lovely scent, and it made my skin super clean and smooth without drying it out.

These soaps are always such a treat to get in boxes, but I have yet to splurge for the full-size version (it’s $45 a bar!)

Patchology Flashpatch Lip Gel – Value $2

beautyfix_092016-008

Just when I think they’ve created sheet masks for everything they can…. lip masks! I gave this one a try, but ended up taking it off in a few minutes – it was weird not being able to talk with it on! (And I can’t say I noticed any moisturizing benefits from the few minutes I had it on.)

beautyfix_092016-005

Danielle Creations Rose Gold Curved Tweezer – Value $8

beautyfix_092016-013

Rose gold is everywhere these days! I love the curved design of these tweezers, and they work pretty well too. (Not as well as my beloved Tweezerman tweezers, but a pretty close second.)

beautyfix_092016-011

DS Laboratories Spectral.Lash Eyelash Stimulator – FULL SIZE! Value $40

This is interesting! I’ve always been intrigued by lash lengthening/growing products, but also a little afraid of them. The tip of this one is a little scary looking, too:

beautyfix_092016-012

It has a built-in fuzzy tip to help apply the product to lashes/eyelid. I tried it once and it didn’t irritate my eyes, so I’m going to keep it up and see if I get results (lashes appearing 25% longer in 2 weeks) like it promises.

beautyfix_092016-016

Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex – 3 ml Value $7

This product is designed to help brighten dark spots. I thought the product was pretty gentle on my skin, and it absorbed quickly. (I wouldn’t recommend using it right out of the shower, though. That was the one time I used it where it was a little irritating.)

beautyfix_092016-015

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener – 7 ml Value $6.75

I’ve sampled this primer before and it works well! My skin feels smoother and ready for makeup. I can’t say I notice any special difference between this and other primers, so I likely wouldn’t buy this in full-size, but I’ll use every drop of this sample.

beautyfix_092016-014

Liftlab Skin Rejuvenation Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser – 1 oz Value $14.75

(Good to know for swaps – this has an inner foil seal.)

This cleanser is sulfate and paraben free! It’s designed to work as both a cleanser and exfoliator (plus a detox mask if you leave it on for 3-5 minutes.)

I really like this formula. It provides a really creamy lather, and the exfoliation is minor enough that you can use it every day. The only caveat is that I found it to be a little drying, so you’ll likely need a moisturizer after using it.

NIA 24 Treatment Catalyst – FULL SIZE! Value $71

I thought this was a sample when I first saw it (it’s only 15 ml) so I’ve been using it pretty liberally (I love this serum – it feels so good on my skin). But now that I’m writing the review and see this is the full-size version, I need to use it a little more sparingly! I think I’ll scale down to 1-2 drops per usage!

In addition to being an antioxidant-rich serum, it’s designed to help other skincare products easily absorb, too.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $155! Amazing! I’m always so impressed with this subscription. They always deliver on quality skincare products, and there’s usually a beauty tool or makeup product in the box to round it out.

What do you think of the September 2016 Beauty Fix box? What are your favorite items this month?

  1. This is always my favorite box. I have tried all the beauty boxes and have weeded them down to this – and GlossyBox. The October is great too – some stellar skin care products and a gorgeous compact.

  2. I really like to read everyone’s reviews. It makes me happy when I’m reading about a sub that I might be interested in and I scroll down to look for reviews and I see many of them! I can’t tell you how much it helps me!! So often on other places when I want to buy something and I look for reviews there are none. Or there are one or two word reviews. But now after reading y’alls reviews I’m ready to take the plunge and try this box! I just cancelled glossybox and birchbox. I’ve recently just subscribed to Lip Monthly and this one will be my next new one. Can’t wait to try out these two new ones!! So excited!

By the way… I read somewhere about people swapping or trading stuff they get from subs that they don’t like/won’t use… can anyone give me any details on that?

  3. As usual, a really interesting box with things I normally wouldn’t try. The only dud was the lip gel which would not even stay on my lips–it kept sliding off. It was good to try though…now I know not to go out and buy a whole pack.

  4. So not sad that I cancelled this box. I would have been very disappointed this month. It’s a bunch of tiny stuff with some random serum I would never have used. I don’t feel like this box was ever worth it. Maybe the supposed dollar value was high, but a lot of the brands were super random and I rarely used anything from it.

  5. Love this subscription. Always a great value. I purchased an extra box just for the lash treatment and NIA 24.

  6. I subscribed to Glossybox with great hopes. I’ve loved the actual boxes but not the customer service or curation. I’m really bummed it didn’t work out. I finally cancelled today, so October will be my last month.
Beauty Fix is incredible. I’ve been watching and tempted for quite some time so today I’ve decided to give them my money. Thank you for all the comments posted in the reviews, they really help when you read actual customers speak of their customer service experiences and all seem to rave about it. This also seems like a better fit for me as I prefer skin care to makeup. Totally blown away by the value each month. Makes SO much more sense to me. I love BoxyCharm as well, but they include so much makeup, I just know I’d be swapping or storing but not using.
Goodbye Allure and Glossybox, thanks for being consistently frustrating and making my decision EASY!

  7. I loved this box. The eyelash stimulator works great. I have been using it for a few weeks and my lashes look amazing. Darker, longer, thicker. You have to be careful not to get the stimulator above the lash line though. I did and i have had several lashes start growing higher up on my eyelid. I pluck them out with tweezers. You can also use it on your brows. My eyebrows have grown in really fast and full. I actually just bought more of this on Amazon for $22 which is half the price it is on Derm store.

    • I really like it, too! It took me a minute to figure it out. After 3 days of use I could actually feel a difference in my lashes. I’ve tried a lot of lash products, but this one is going to be the only one I order from now on, it works and it is a lot less expensive than the others I’ve used in the past!

    • Woah! Actually purchasing the full-size is a testament indeed. My lashes are ok and my eyelids are sensitive, so I skipped over this product. But my inner eyebrows are thinning. I need to give this product a second look!

  8. I really liked this box too, especially the Nia 24. I’ve been mixing it with the glytone to help that absorb and also make that small tube last longer.

My wish for this box is that they start including more information about how to use the products (like the glytone and Nia 24 in this box)… I usually look each one up, but I’d love to know what they recommend and whether the products are supposed to compliment each other, etc.

Dermstore just started stocking It Works, so I’m hoping to see that in a future box.

  9. I’ve seen the soap, Danielle tweezers, and Jane iredale at TJMaxx and a local outlet store. I paid $3.99 for the soap and tweezers were about that price as well.

    • So, half the cost is recouped right there, before even getting to the rest. Great value.

  10. This was my first BeautyFix box and the value is outstanding. I have been waiting for a review before I try anything (other than the tweezers which are good) so I think I am ready to get my feet wet.

    What are beauty advent calendars?

  11. Can you still get this September box now?

    • Yes

      • Is the last day to get this box September 30th?

        • I believe it is whenever they run out, not a certain day. Basing this off the fact they ran out of august boxes before the end of august.

  12. Oh you guys! You are supposed to mix few drops of the Nia 24 serum witb your regular moisturizer! It should last a very long time.

    • Thanks for the info, haven’t tried mine yet because I try and rotate all the beauty supplies I get

  13. I’m confused about the purpose of the Glytone. Do you apply it to your entire face? I’m also concerned about all the warnings on the packaging about increased sun-sensitivity.

This is definitely one of my favorite subs though.

  14. I love the NIA24 so much and wanted a second eyelash serum so I actually bought a second box. I’ll prob use the other duplicates for stocking stuffers for my mom and sister. Great box!

  15. I wanted to try the oil but I saw it has sesame oil and I am allergic to sesame seeds ? This is the second time a product I wanted to try had sesame oil. It was the babor face cream.

  16. Love this box! I’m excitedly waiting for October spoilers!! I hope it’s another great month.

  17. The Nia 24 Catalyst is a wonder1 It simply makes my skin amazing. I adore the lash treatment so far… no problems with my contacts or my sensitive eyes. Love the soap for travel. Pretty amazing box…

  18. Holy moly I’ve been using that serum like crazy too, it feels amazing. Now that I know it’s full size (yikes) I’m going to follow your lead. Always so happy with Beautyfix!

    • Haha – that’s so funny that we were doing the same thing with the serum! 🙂 I think I may buy an extra box this month for backup!

      • Hi Liz,
Another off topic post, but just wanted to let you know that the 2016 Sephora Collection advent calendar is now available. Since you’ve been posting about their kits, I thought others would like to know about this. 🙂

Btw, sorry about not going through the traditional channels to notify you, but I’m sure you get inundated with emails, and I wasn’t sure if you’d see my email…. (or maybe you already know about it! 🙂 )…. plus I thought this could be a good way to let people know right away about this… just in case they might be interested.

        • !!! Thanks so much for letting us know! I’ll post about this now. (I’m obsessed with all beauty Advent Calendars!)

          • The Look Fantastic Advent Calendar is on pre-order. Shipping November 1st.

          • Thanks so much for the head’s up!!

          • I am too! 🙂 I just discovered them this year, so this will be my first year receiving them, and I can’t wait!

          • What are beauty advent calendars? Sorry for the newbie question lol

        • I am super excited about the Look Fantastic Advent Calender. It’s over double the cost of Sephora’s, but it’s all deluxe samples and full-size products. Happy early Hanukkah to me!

    • I do the same usually! I tend to treat my hands and neck to serum every night since I have such a stockpile. I will even use older/expired/less favorite serums mixed in with my body lotion. This one is pricey indeed. 🙂

  19. Always my favorite box!!!

  20. I was so disappointed that the lip things weren’t full size that I didn’t order this. But….Liz’s review has done it again. I realize the serum makes it a good purchase so I have now ordered it.

Am I the only one who is charged tax?

    • I get charged tax. I’m in Cali

    • I’m in Texas and we get charged tax.I believe I read somewhere that everyone does with this box.Im excited to try the lash treatment, especially after ready some of the reviews ?

    • If there is sales tax where you live, than yes you will be charged sales tax.

  21. So glad I’m not the only one who didn’t care for the lip gel! It wouldn’t stay on and ripped easily but glad I got to try it. The eyelash stuff is working well though and hasn’t irritated me even with contacts.

    • Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that it ripped easily! OK, glad I’m not the only one, too!

And that’s great to hear about the eyelash treatment – I feel better about using it now! 🙂
