Now, onto the items!

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus Essential Daily Moisturizer – 15 ml (Travel size) Value $20

(Good to know for swaps – inner foil seal)

This is a great daily moisturizer with SPF 30. The formula is gentle and non-greasy, too. I get a lot of Pur-lisse in subscription boxes, but I’ve been impressed with every product I’m sampled from them, so I’m always happy to see more!

Be a Bombshell Smooth Criminal HD Finishing Powder – 4 grams Value $7

This powder is made from 100% silica powder, and the formula is a super fine powder that goes on smoothly. Be a Bombshell cosmetics isn’t my favorite cosmetics brand (usually, the ingredients/packaging can seem cheap), but this formula seems on par with my more expensive finishing powders! It helped mattify my skin, and it set my makeup well.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes – 7 wipes Value $1.25

I’ve sampled these before and I’m happy to have more. The wipes are gentle on my skin and remove makeup well.

Happy Hair Turban – Value $18

This is a terry towel hair wrap that helps with drying your hair and preventing frizz.

I’ve sampled a similar towel before thanks to the Summer Box of Style, and I really like it! It’s also great for applying hair masks to make sure the mask stays in place while you wait!

And here is the spoiler gif from Beauty Box 5 showing how to put it on:

Go Smile Teeth Whitening Gel – .5 oz Value $4.25

(Good to know for swaps – inner foil seal)

FYI – this is just whitening gel, not toothpaste, so to use they recommend combining equal parts of this gel and toothpaste to a dry toothbrush. I’ve used this gel before, and while I can’t say I noticed any whitening differences, I like using products like this to help fight tea/coffee stains.

Verdict: This month’s Beauty Box 5 has a value of about $50! I think that’s great for a $12 box, and I can see why these products are staff favorites. Even though there weren’t many new discoveries for me this month, I’ll use everything in the box!

What do you think about the September Beauty Box 5? Did you like this month’s box?

  1. I broke down and ordered 3 months, hopefully I get the September box as I signed up before the 21st and the bonus item. The turban is what I am looking forward to! Quick question – is the shipping box size comparable to Birchbox or Allure? My mailbox is relatively small, so hopefully it fits.

    • The boxes I have been getting a small size. they are shaped like the boxes you would get new checks in from your bank. but they are bigger. they have jam packed them full so far when the turban came the box was overflowing.

      • Thanks Jessica! I think it will fit my small mail box 🙂

        • It will FOR SURE fir in your mailbox. It’s much smaller than a birchbox or allure boxes, and both of those have outer boxes, this one is the box only I believe, but it’s way smaller, it was stuffed to the gills with that turban towel!

  2. I really like this box. I signed up for a bunch of beauty boxes (ipsy, boxycharm, glossy box, sephora, walmart, target, allure, birchbox- and probably a few others I’m not thinking of). This has actually been one of my favorite boxes to get mostly because the items have been useful as a whole for me compared to other boxes where I may only like one or two things. In any case, i have already cancelled birchbox, boxycharm, and allure. I will probably also be cancelling sephora (will give one more month to try). In any case, because of how useful i’ve found this box, i went ahead and signed up for a year to make it a bit cheaper. I think this box is totally underrated and it’s too bad, because I think it’s a great value.

  3. Is it too late to subscribe for the September box?

    • Nevermind, I just found the answer. If you sign up by the 21st, you can get this month’s box!

    • If I were you I wouldn’t subscribe!!!!! They have poor customer service I received the August box and I cancelled on my account page for me not to receive the boxes anymore and come September i received a box contacted my bank and found they took out the money for the box so I contacted customer service and they told me that I have to email them in order to cancel the subscription so I asked why is that not specified and why is there a cancel my account button then so after two hours of going back and forth I called 4 times and never got anyone on the phone and never got a call back I think it’s outrageous what they did I will not sure subscribe to them again!!!!! Very very bad experience with them!!!!!

  4. I tried the Be a Bombshell Smooth Criminal finishing powder and I have no complaints! It set my under eye concealer no problem and looked great. I use a turban towel everyday either to dry my hair or to protect it from getting sprayed in the shower on days that I’m not washing my hair.
    Great box this month!

  5. Oh wow this box is stepping it up while some of the other subs are cascading downward. Interesting…I need to decide what to cancel before I sub tho!

    • That’s where I am with this! Either Boxy or Play! will need to go before I take the plunge. I have FOMO with both granted less of it with the Play box.

  6. I received my first box today. I got the bonus eyeshadow. I don’t know anyone who would pay $24.00 for this. Mine is a horrible white and has an awful feeling formula with super cheap packaging. The be a bombshell finishing powder is chalky feeling, also with cheap packaging. The turban is worthless for waist length hair. So I will be using nothing from this box. Everything is cheap and a huge let down.

  7. This box has been looking a lot better lately. Back when I subscribed they sent me two sets of toe separators in three months.

For BaB products, at least in my experience, it seems that the dry powder products are all right — or even pretty good — and it is the wet(ish) ones (like those awful One Sticks or the stinky mascara from that one ipsy bag) that I don’t care for.

  8. I was going to sign up for 3 months because of the free eyeshadow deal but I didn’t see any mention of it. I used the link too. Decided to wait, I sent them an e-mail to double check.

    • I used the link to sign up for my subscription and I received the eyeshadow in my box. Unfortunately, the shade is literally white (it’s called Vanilla Frosting) and doesn’t work for me because I have a very pale complexion and the color doesn’t show up.

  9. Does everyone get the same box or will there be box envy like Sephora and Birchbox?

    • Everyone gets the same stuff! Occasionally they will send out various shades of a product (eyeshadow, lipstick etc.) But everyone recieves the same items! One of the things I love about this sub!

  10. I decided to cancel Sephora and get this instead. There just hasn’t been anything I’ve liked in Sephora since I’ve been getting it.

I used the link above for the free eye shadow and didn’t notice anything about receiving it. Hope i do!

    • Yep, you will receive the eyeshadow in your next box. I was worried when I first subbed and didnt see note of it I emailed and they got right back to me with that response and it was in fact in the next box. I have been subbing to this all year and I really really like it. They have a great value and if you don’t want the item they usually swap pretty well.

For the price you cant beat it. lol I have literally tried EVERY beauty box out there and this one I have kept which says something. Customer service has been top notch too. 🙂

      • Good to know! Thanks!

      • Where do y’all swap your items? I’m fairly new to this. I’ve only been subbing to boxes for 6 months but in those 6 months I’ve come across tons of stuff I know that just won’t work for me or I won’t use. And I keep seeing people talk about swapping but I have no clue what they mean by that or how they are going about it. Lol
