YummyBazaar-August-2016-Booklet

This month’s items are all from the France!

YummyBazaar-August-2016-ItemList

Yummy Bazaar includes an information booklet with every box that contains a breakdown of the items in the box.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Recipes

There are also recipes that incorporate the items included.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Chips1

French Potato Chips by Sibell- $4.95

These preservative-free chips are flavored with herbes de Provence, and I really like their fresh, herby flavor.

(Note: Several items in this box aren’t currently for sale on the Yummy Bazaar site. For those items, I’ve used the pricing information provided in the info booklet.)

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Chips2

The potatoes are ridged and have a nice, hearty crunch.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Ratatouille

Organic French Ratatouille by Karine & Jeff (12.3 oz.)- $7.95

Ratatouille is one of my favorite summertime stews, and I love the way it showcases the lovely flavors of tomato, eggplant, and zucchini. Karine & Jeff’s version is delicious. I ate it over a little rice for a quick and tasty lunch, and I liked it so much I’m planning to pick up a few more jars.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Crepes

Crêpe Mix by Francine (13.4 oz.)- $7.95

I loves crêpes, and they’re one of my favorite desserts to make when I have company. (I think it’s fun for guests to pick out their own fillings and toppings!) Crêpes are pretty easy to make from scratch, but this mix will be nice to keep on hand for occasions when I run out of flour or I’m short on time.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Palmiers1

Palmiers Au Beurre by Fossier (4.4 oz.)- $8.95

Palmiers are baked slices of puff pastry. They can have up to hundreds of layers, which makes them delightfully flaky.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Palmiers2

These are really good. They’re crispy, buttery, and delicious.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Mush

Dried Mixed French Mushrooms by Sabarot- $6.95

This is a mix of dried oyster mushrooms, black mushrooms, and porcini mushrooms that can be rehydrated in 3 minutes. Yummy Bazaar suggests using these mushrooms to make soup, but I also think they’d be delicious in pasta tossed with black olives, tomatoes, and fresh basil.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Crisps

Crackers with Tomatoes and Espelette Pepper by Biscuiterie de Provence- $7.95

These small crisps can be served with cheese and cured meats, or used in salads. The flavor is nice, and I like the small size.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Salmon

Salmon Rillettes with Lemon and Dill by Mouettes d'Arvor (4.4 oz.)- $7.75

Rillettes is similar to pâté and is often served on bread or toast. I decided to sample this product with the tomato crisps.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-CrispSalmon

The rillettes was easy to spread and had a nice lemon flavor. It was a little too “fishy” for my liking, but my husband loved it.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Loaf1

French Honey Cake by L'Abeille Diligente (8.8 oz.)- $7.95

Despite the “Gingerbread” label, the dominant flavor of this cake is definitely honey.

YummyBazaar-August-2016-Loaf2

This cake is tasty, and I think it would be delicious alongside a cup of tea.

Verdict: As always, I really enjoyed this box from Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club. It’s one of my favorite subscriptions, and I’m always so impressed by the diverse selection of food they send. Altogether, the retail price of the items in this box totals approximately $60.40. That’s fantastic!

This was my first Yummy Bazaar box and I am very happy with it.
Customer service was outstanding- the chips had popped in shipment and we are receiving a new bag plus a second bag of truffle potato chips (I mentioned the chips were for my boyfriend who LOVES potato chips).

And as far as my two cents in regards to pricing (and the complaints mentioned previously)- yes you could absolutely go online and purchase these items separately for less- but appeal of the box is I don’t have to do that. I don’t have TIME to curate my own special foods box- that is why you’re paying someone else to do it. These are foods I wouldn’t have even thought to try- and overall we are really pleased with this box and are excited for the next one.

Just received my box today and, once again, Yummy Bazaar does not disappoint. Great items, well packed and I use everything in the box.

Typically I see when a product is easily obtainable from other sources, and the price is lower elsewhere, MSA lists the lower price, or at least mentions it. There is no mention in this post that you price checked. Yummy Bazaar is not the only seller of these products.

As a box purchaser 150+ boxes a year. I never go by the price on Amazon or sale prices. I’ve had to many items increase in my cart in Amazon or become unavailable, as well as other stores. I’ve been price checking certain yummy bizzarre items I like for a while. Overall the prices remain consistent and all the items have been fresh with great expiration dates thats I’ve gotten, customer service has also been excellent. I would rather spend a dollar more on an item if the item is fresher and has a longer expiration date.

I started googling these items to verify- these prices are from their store, and they don’t match up with other stores.

When you write these reviews it helps to have a critical eye. One thing these types of businesses will do is sell a smaller version for almost as much as the full size elsewhere. The ratatouille is a good example of that- spend $1 more for twice as much. Noting when products are not actually full size is also super useful.

When I read a box review it is very valuable to me to know if it is a good deal or more of a curation-based value. Only using the box seller’s prices does not provide me with that info.

We strive to provide the best value because we believe gourmet food from around the world should be accessible in our everyday life. While once in a while others may be running a sale or promotion, we strive to keep a consistent everyday great value price for our customers. In addition, while being a young business, we provide a great shipping rate, which is $5.95 flat rate and free with $69+. And of course, our excellent customer service 🙂

This box is $35.95 per month, including free shipping, and has a retail value of about $60 based on what we believe is the best value at the time when we curated the box. All items in our subscription boxes are full-size items. The ratatouille is a full-size item as well. It is in a 12.3 oz jar (24.3 oz is also available. As it is true for most products, typically the larger container you buy, the lower per ounce you pay!).

We also have hassle-free cancelation policy! You can simply cancel or skip the box yourself without contacting us (of course we’d be happy to help too). You also earn Yummy Points that can be redeemed for future regular purchases!

This box has a lot of variety in it. Products I never knew existed and would have never tried if it was not for this box. The price range is perfect for the amount of items received,

I was so excited to open up my box! I love everything I got, with the exception of maybe the salmon spread. You’re right … it is a little “fishy”, but I plan on mixing it with some capers, dill and shallots to tone down the taste a little.
