Purr Packs is a monthly subscription box for cats. You can choose from several different subscription tiers, with customization offered for higher tiers (for example, you can exclude certain protein sources in treats).
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
My “helper” strikes again!
The Subscription Box: Purr Packs
The Cost: $24.99 for the Teaser Pack (contains 5-7 items), $29.99 for the Fun & Love Pack (contains 7-9 items), and $39.99 for the Multi-Cat Mega-Pack (contains 9+ items). This is a review of the Multi-Cat Mega-Pack!
COUPON: Save 20% off your first box with code MSA20
The Products: Toys, made-in-the-USA treats, and other cat goodies, including many exclusive items.
Ships to: US, Canada, UK
Good to know: There are now shipping charges of $4.95 in the US. Subscribers at the time of this change (like me) are grandfathered in to the free shipping plan. Also note that subscribing nets you 10% savings versus buying a single box (coupon codes will still work on top of that discount, as well). You can now decide how many shipments you want in a year and choose the arrival date.

Included was an information card detailing some of the items for the month.
Petstages Catnip Felt Friend – Value $3.99
This is a little large for my cats’ taste, but if your kitty likes kicker or wrestler-type toys, you can usually count on one in this box.
Jackson Galaxy Organic Catnip (1 oz) – Value $6.29
We’ve gotten a lot of catnip this month. This will be good for refreshing the scratch pad (see below). Actually I have a lot of scratch pads from past months of this box and they all still get used, so now I can refresh all of them. I’m not sure I would pay this much for one ounce of catnip, but that’s what Petsmart sells it for.
Cats Rule Cylinder Catnip Toy – Value $3.50
I haven’t seen this in action, but it has been batted around the bedroom soon. I am finding it in different places.
Petmate Kitty Kaps Food Can Topper – Value $1.09
This is awesome. It fits four different sizes of cans and I actually have four different sizes of pet food cans that I use on a regular basis. I will be buying lots more of these.
Jackson Galaxy Natural Playtime Cat Toys (set of 3) – Value $5.95
These were big winners. Sneaky liked the little blue one and Monkey LOVED the spiral with the paper fringe/tassel.
Zanies Tie Dye Mouse – Value $0.75
There are always a few small toys like this in this box. Cats do tend to like the inexpensive toys a lot…
Fat Cat Classic Kitten Little – Value $1.49
Another thing Monkey LOVES. Every toy from this company/product line has been a winner for us. He licks them until they are very wet.
Ethical Products Neon Sock with Catnip and Bell – Value $3
Monkey likes this, too, because it has a bell. So we have to take it away at night!
Feline Harvest Grain Free Dental Cat Treats in Chicken (3 oz) – Value $2.09
These are kind of large, so the cats have to bite them into pieces, but they do seem pretty popular. They are made in the US and I love that they’re grain free.
Smart n’ Tasty Feline Dental Treats in Salmon (3 oz) – Value $3.99
These are a subscription box standby for us. My cats have enjoyed several bags of these in the past, so I am always happy to get more. Don’t know how well they clean the teeth, though.
Corrugated Scratch Pad – Value $10 (?)
You will get one of these most months with this subscription. I have them all over the house now. Move them to new locations and watch your cat(s) rediscover them all over again!
Gratuitous cat photos ahead…
Claiming the scratch pad as his own.
Checking out a toy.
I like the look on his face here.
That little spiral toy? I had to take it away, he loved it so much. I was worried he would chew a piece off or something. (It held up pretty well, though.)
Madison often doesn’t want to play with toys, but he will come out for treats. I like how his tooth is showing in the one picture.
Couldn’t get an action shot but Sneaky really had fun with this.
Chowing down on the treats.
He did this all on his own.
Mr. Kitty looks a little confused here. I’m just glad he felt well enough to come downstairs and see what was going on.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $42.14 for the August 2016 Purr Packs box. This is one of the few cat subscriptions that consistently breaks even or exceeds the price of the box (it’s even a better deal with a longer-term subscription, too) and is one of our favorites to receive every month. The items were fun and my cats liked the treats, so I’m happy!
What did you think of the August 2016 Purr Packs box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
