PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-Info1

PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-Info2

The info card always lists the products in the order of recommended usage-- useful if you're not sure of where to insert products into your skincare routine. The July/August card introduces the "essence" product category.

PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-1

Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask - $12

This is a wash-off face mask that contains egg white extract. It claims to remove pore-clogging oil and tighten pores at the same time. The mask smells pleasant and is easy to apply and wash off. My face feels smoother and less oily after each use, although the effects are temporary.

PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-2

Benton Fermentation Essence - $26

I adore Benton products and this one was no different! This is a light watery essence that features star ingredient galactomyces ferment filtrate, a type of yeast. It has brightening, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, it improves skin tone, hydration, and elasticity. The essence is clear and does not have any fragrance. Two pumps is enough to cover my whole face so this 100ml bottle will last me a while.

While it feels slightly viscous upon first pump, it applies very smoothly and completely sinks into my skin within minutes. There is no tackiness; it's as if I had applied nothing at all! Best of all, it provides the perfect amount of hydration for my oily skin type. I'm truly in love with this essence.

PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-3

Goodal Premium Snail Tone-Up Hydrogel Mask - $10

The main ingredient for this mask is snail secretion filtrate! The thick two-piece hydrogel mask has a pleasant fragrance. The gel stayed moist for a long time but the lower piece kept slowly slipping off my face. Other than the frequent adjustments I had to make for the slippery gel, I felt that the mask plumped my face and gave it some serious hydration. Unfortunately because of the thicker essence it also made my face feel sticky.

Lindsay Modeling Mask in Lavender - $5.95

These modeling masks are fancier than their sheet mask cousins and have been featured in previous PinkSeoul boxes. The lavender type helps to hydrate, calm, and even out skin tone. The powder, when mixed with water, transforms into a paste. Then, simply layer a generous amount of to the face and wait until the mask dries to a putty texture before peeling off. My face always feels plump and hydrated after use.

Skinfood Rose Essence Soft Cream Blusher - $18

This blush is creamy and pigmented. I received 06 Edge Rose. Rather than rose it looks mostly pink on my skin. I do detect a slight rose fragrance but it is not noticeable unless you stick your nose into the pan.

Tony Moly Peach Hand Cream - $12

This adorable hand cream smells exactly like peaches, which invokes plenty of images of summertime! The consistency is thick which makes me initially think this would be a better option for winter. However, it does not feel heavy nor does it leave any sticky residue so it makes for a great year-round option.

Bow Hair Ties x2 - $8

Each box includes an accessory item and this month features hair ties. I think these are very sleek and definitely suit my style!

PinkSeoul-Plus-July-August-2016-6

Laneige Sun Block sample - $2

This sun block from Laneige has SPF 50. Its floral fragrance is strong for a sunscreen, but I prefer this over the usual sunscreen smell. It's lightweight and quickly absorbs into skin.

Thank You Farmer True Water Line sample set - $2

Thank You Farmer is a new brand that I've seen making waves in K-beauty shops. This sample set includes the Deep Serum, Light Gel Cream, and Deep Cream from its True Water line.

Verdict: The July/August PinkSeoul Plus Box is great. The curation is amazing as usual. Plus, I am absolutely in love with the Benton Fermentation Essence! That discovery alone makes the box worth it to me. The total retail value is about $96, which is almost twice the cost of subscription. As always, I appreciate the attention to detail and K-beauty education in each info card.

This PinkSeoul box looks fantastic! How does PinkSeoul compare to the other K-Beauty boxes?

I’ve become interested in k-beauty lately, too! Not sure where to start…

It’s funny, I read about egg white on your face years ago in some woman’s magazine. When you’re baking, or using eggs (cookies and brownies here), after you crack the egg and pour it out, there’s always a little “essence” left in the shell you can’t shake out. So use it up by wiping it over your face with your fingers! (After all, that hen, who hopefully did not live in a battery cage, worked hard for you.)

There’s no smell, and it’s really no messier than just cracking the egg – you have to wash your fingers after that anyway. You can feel it tighten instantly! Like, tight. Good to read that beauty experts are rediscovering this!

The egg white item caught my attention too! I remember YEARS ago my mom using egg whites as a mask to shrink pores.

what is that test strip for?

Nancy Su

Ahh! My bad– it’s a pH strip that’s meant to be tested on your water-based cleanser. I do mention it in the upcoming regular PinkSeoul Box review.
