Orglamix is a vegan and cruelty free beauty subscription containing loose shadows, glitter pigments, aromatherapy roll-ons, and more. Many of the items in the subscription will be unique to the subscription and not available in the Orglamix shop (although they will have the same great formula).

I like the new boxes, by the way!

The box came with an information card detailing the items for August. The theme was “Vitamin Sea.”

Beach Bum Sea Salt Scrub (4 oz) – Value $9

This smells really good and I love scrubs. This may be my favorite thing in the box. (Value taken from the information card. I’m pretty sure this is exclusive to the box this month since it is so well tailored to fit the theme.)

Ocean Potion Seaweed Detox Bath (3 oz) – Value $5

My husband has embarked on a never ending attempt to paint the bathroom trim so I have not yet gotten a chance to use this among all the drop cloths, masking tape, etc. But, I have enjoyed seaweed baths in the past and I am very much looking forward to it. Seaweed has a lot of minerals and may help with cellulite (emphasis on “may”).

Here’s a look at the scrub.  I like that it doesn’t have artificial dyes in it.

Ocean Mist Sea Salt Shimmer Hair Spray (2 fl oz) – Value $8

I don’t generally use products like this, but I gave it a try for the sake of this review. I put it on towel-dried hair and I couldn’t really see any difference the next day. Perhaps it is because my hair is long and thick and already naturally wavy. Still, it fits with the theme and is a small part of the overall value of the box. (I took the value from the information card since I can’t find it on their site.)

Ocean Mineral Serum (1 oz) – Value $32

This is a super generous size. With serums, it’s hard to tell if they’re working until you’ve used them for awhile, but I liked that it seemed to be fragrance-free (great for facial skincare) and absorbed into the skin quickly. It also didn’t interfere with subsequent application of makeup and it didn’t dry out my skin.

Mermaid Tears Mineral Whip Cream Eyeshadow/Liner (2.5 g) – Value $18

This is a beautiful color (see below) and a type of product I’m not sure I’ve (personally) received in an Orglamix box before. You should expect to see at least one eyeshadow or other pigmented-product each month, and sometimes you get 2 or 3 of them.

Seaweed Elixir Mask (0.5 oz) – Value $7

For me, this was a pretty standard clay mask. I do love clay masks, though. They are great for my oily skin, and I really think this helped improve the appearance of my pores without drying me out. I will go through this pretty fast.

Here’s a look inside so you can see colors, etc.

orglamix-august-2016-swatch

Here’s a swatch of the shadow/liner.  This color is pretty bold for me for shadow, but is just the sort of color I like for liner, so that is probably how I will use it. Note: it was very hard to get the swatch off my arm, even after scrubbing with soap…

Verdict: I calculated a value of $79 for the August Orglamix subscription box. None of the items were available for sale in the Orglamix shop, so I had to take all the values from the information card. However, the value is comfortably over the cost of the box so I think you are still getting a good deal. I really liked the focus this month on skincare and bath/body items, and I thought the shadow/liner color was beautiful. I feel like this subscription has a consistently good value!

response: August is sold out– I’m so sorry. We usually sell out before the box ships. We are almost sold out for September.

Sorry you missed it Krista. We close the box on the 4th a midnight CST — unless we sell out sooner. This way we have time to order ingredients, packaging and gives us time to make everything. xox Cheri
