Love with Food offers a Tasting Box, a Deluxe Box, and a Gluten Free Box. This is a review of the Tasting Box.
They usually include a little booklet with all of the products listed, but I didn't receive one this month. I did receive a few coupons, and a sample of Pique Jasmine Tea Crystals. I used the sample and fell in love...I now have a few boxes of these on their way to me - they'll be perfect for traveling.
Peanut Butter & Co. Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter - Vanilla - $0.90
I've actually never tried powdered peanut butter before now. What is your favorite way to use it? I mixed it with water as instructed on the package, and used it as a spread on toast. I enjoyed it, but I think I would prefer the plain peanut butter flavor. I'm very much a peanut butter purist - I don't want anything added in!
Sheffa Zesty Snack Mix - $1.49
These noodles are made from chickpeas and they are seasoned to perfection. I really enjoyed these! They were crunchy, flavorful, and satisfying.
Envirokidz Chocolate Crispy Rice Bar - $0.66
These crispy rice bars are covered in chocolate, and have an impressive ingredient list. I think they would be a perfect snack to throw into a lunchbox for a mid afternoon snack for any adult or child. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of these.
PopCorners Carnival Kettle - $0.88
This chips are made from popped corn, and are gluten-free. They are not fried, and have no artificial additives. They have decent nutritional facts: only 120 calories per 1 oz bag. I enjoyed these - they have that nostalgic kettle corn flavor, with none of the popcorn hulls to get stuck in your teeth!
Goodie Girl Cookies - Quinoa Choco-Chip - $1.00
These cookies are gluten-free, and made with quinoa. I've tried these before, and I loved them, so I was happy to get another package. They taste exactly how you would expect chocolate chip cookies to taste, but with none of the wheat! The texture is very crunchy, so these are definitely more like cookie crisps than soft cookies!
Ocean Halo Texas BBQ Seaweed Snack - $1.33
Seaweed isn't my snack of choice, but it is very low in calories (A concern for me these days - the metabolism just isn't what it was before 30, you know?), and it is high in B-12 and iodine. So I gave these a shot, and actually liked them. I think it's because the additional flavor kind of masks the strong taste a bit. They're like the better-for-you version of BBQ chips.
Toasted Coconut Toffee Chimes Candy - $0.50?
These candies are made from the same company that makes the ginger chews I enjoy. These candies are hard candy, with a flavor that melds toffee and coconut perfectly. I'm not a coconut lover, but these were definitely good.
Fru-licious Fruit and Cream Smoothie - $0.31
This was a really nice treat on a hot day (all of them are these days). I enjoyed the banana flavor of this smoothie pop; sometimes banana flavored things can taste really artificial - this was a nice exception!
Verdict: I generally really like the items I receive in my Love with Food boxes. This month, my favorite thing was actually a sample (the Pique Teas), but I enjoyed quite a lot of the rest of my box too. There were quite a few gluten-free items, which would be great for someone avoiding gluten for health reasons, but if you want a fully gluten free box, Love with Food offers those too!
This month, my box has a value of about $7.07 - a little under the cost of the box if you're paying month-to-month. This is a pretty standard value for this box, so keep that in mind if you're interested in subscribing - the value is not always going to meet or exceed the cost of the box.
