Geek-Chic-Monthly-August-2016-Info1

August is the Pirate box! Specifically, it seems to be Peter Pan themed!

Geek-Chic-Monthly-August-2016-Info2

This little charm was used to wrap the inner package. It's not included on the info card but I thought it was cute and notable.

Crocodile Earrings

A-dor-able. These are totally the type of fun earrings I would wear if I had piercings! I like the antique bronze look as well.

"As You Wish" Bookmark

This is a metal bookmark with a charm that says "as you wish." It is a reference to the movie Princess Bride, which I've never watched before and probably should. The charms and etchings are so pretty!

Hook & Swan Bracelet

This adjustable bangle is very similar in design to last month's Doctor Who one. I was really confused about the swan, but then I read the info card description a few more times. Emma... Swan... Once Upon A Time? Sure enough, this seems to be in reference to the romance between Captain Hook and Emma Swan. I stopped following OUAT after Season 1 so this is a pleasant surprise.

Closeup of the bookmark.

Mermaid Tears Necklace

This necklace is beautiful. It has a charming Etsy feel to it. From the tiny beads to the burnt edges of the "Mermaid Tears" label to the little silver goblet, all the details on this necklace are amazing. Love!

The necklace hangs at around mid-chest.

Bangarang!! Vinyl Decal

"Bangarang!!" is the battle cry of the Lost Boys in Hook. Just look at that mohawk design! I think I'll spruce up a notebook cover with this cool decal.

Verdict: This month's Geek Chic Monthly was so fun to open! My favorite is the necklace. The earrings are unique as well and I'm sure I can find a good home for them. The cost breakdown is $3 per piece (or $3.60 apiece with US shipping), which, like usual, is a fantastic value for such high quality jewelry!

September's theme is Twisted Fairytale and is sold out now, but subscriptions open soon for October's Tim Burton box!

Nancy, don’t feel bad. I just put Princess Bride on my Netflix to watch for the first time. It has been around longer than I thought. I am no spring chicken and I have only heard about it in the past year.

Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies of all time. I show it to my 6th grade students every year, and they always love it. It’s definitely worth your time to watch it at least once!

I’m also digging the Captain Swan bracelet.

This was my 1st Geek Chic box and I love it! But Nancy, I’m going to need you to drop everything and go watch Princess Bride right now. 🙂 It’s such a great movie!
