This month I went with a thermal protection spray and two products to bring some shine back to my hair.

Above The Clouds Volumizing Mousse – 4 oz, value: $15

I am constantly seeking volume. I was eager to try this product when I saw it in eSalon's line. It is a light mousse that you apply on towel-dry hair. I was pretty conservative when applying (I get oily so easily from excess product!). I noticed a slight difference when drying my hair but after it was dry, I didn't notice that light, volumized feel I like from other volumizers. I didn't love this product.

Heart Lock It Color Safe Shampoo – 8.5 fl oz, value: $15

This was my second time trying an eSalon shampoo. I'm always looking for a great everyday color preserving shampoo. I appreciate that the shampoo and conditioners are different colors which is so great for people like me who wear glasses. This didn't have much fragrance, just a hint of a sweet smell. This isn't a shampoo with a rich lather but my hair definitely felt clean after using it.

Love Unconditionally Color Safe Conditioner –8.5fl oz, value: $15

Just like the shampoo, this conditioner didn't have a strong fragrance but did smell lightly floral. It definitely made my hair feel softer and smoother in the shower. I preferred this over the shampoo.

Verdict: I have colored my hair for as long as I can remember so I am always on the lookout for products that will keep my color bright for longer. The shampoo didn't lather as much as I like and the fragrance was forgettable. The conditioner was pretty good though and is something I'll reach for to mix things up. The mousse didn't have a noticeable effect on my hair so it was a miss for me. Overall, eSalon’s the Match Up is still a great way to try a variety of eSalon's products at a discount.

Lathering comes from sulfates, which is apparently not what you want in your colored hair. That may be why the shampoo doesn’t get quite so foamy. Long term use of products with sulfates is supposed to be bad, especially for colored hair – but everyone has their preference.

My hair is a purple ombre, and I do notice the vibrant color lasts a lot longer now that I use sulfate-free products. 🙂
