Dia & Co. Subscription Box Review – August 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

dia-aug

Dia & Co. is a monthly clothing styling subscription service for plus sizes. When I signed up for the service, I filled out a fairly in-depth questionnaire about my likes and dislikes, my size, my price range, and other questions that might help my stylist. Every month my stylist sends five pieces for me to try out. The service fee is $20 per month, but that fee is applied to any item I decide to keep. Additionally, there is a 20% discount if I decide to keep all five pieces!

FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your package from Dia & Co. may be completely different!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

dia-aug-note

This is the note I received from my stylist this month, Stephanie, explaining why she chose each item. They changed the printed material a bit this month to include this pretty and funky letter with the note on one side and the invoice on the other!

dia-aug-invoice

This is the invoice for the items they sent this month. It shows each item and the cost to keep, plus the cost of the items totaled. Then at the bottom it shows the total with the styling fee credited and the 20% discount for keeping all five items. The discount this month would be $71.20 if I kept all five items. That’s a deep discount!

dia-aug-necklace

Morgan Necklace – Cost to Keep $35

One option you have with Dia is to have accessories sent to you as one or more of your options. I think I have requested not to get accessories in the past, and this is the first time I have received any. I don’t want accessories from Dia, so I made sure to note that when I logged in to “rate my items” this month. It’s a pretty necklace, but it’s not really my style.

Mable Dress by Junarose – Cost to Keep $59

I normally love Junarose, and I love the print on this dress, but this is just the wrong shape for me. It has that “sack” effect. It reminds me of dresses that elderly women in the south used to wear when I was growing up. I’m not ready to look that way yet!

dia-aug-maxi

Ryan Dress by Emerald – Cost to Keep $62

This dress, however, is awesome! I didn’t like it on myself when I first tried it on for some reason. I think I assumed the print would be too big. My husband (the photographer, btw) loved it, though, and he said it made me look like “Classic Hollywood.” When I look at the pictures, I think I agree with him! Is this the summer that I finally fill my closet with maxi dresses? It just might be!

dia-aug-blouse

Kaylee Blouse by Zenobia – Cost to Keep $42

I didn’t like this blouse at all when I pulled it out of the box, but when I tried it on, I loved it! I really like the open neckline, and it’s a little different than something I would normally wear. It’s a keeper!

dia-aug-kiyonna

Knit Jersey Twist Top by Kiyonna – Cost to keep $58

I love this top, too! I actually just got this exact same top in taupe from my Wantable Style Edit. I think I prefer this color, but I already kept the other one, so this one will have to go back, unfortunately.

Verdict: Dia & Co. is one of my favorite subscription boxes! It’s true that it took a month or so for them to get my style down, but lately they have been sending me lots and lots of good stuff. I kept two pieces this month and would have kept the Kiyonna top if I didn’t already have it! I just hope they don’t send me any more accessories. I also love that Dia kind of makes me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. It’s awesome!

What do you think of Dia & Co.? What pieces did you get this month?

  1. You said it took them a few months to figure out your style, so do you get the keep your $20 credit if you send everything back?

  2. Tried Dia for about 15 boxes. Filled out the whole questionnaire, linked to my social media boards, gave good feedback. I specifically requested no polyester, I just cant wear it.. I received polyester in so many boxes that I had to ask 7 times over and over .. the last box I received was all polyester and that was it for me for now. I also felt like they send everyone the same stuff regardless of your personal style, no matter what you say in feed back. I did buy a few basic items, but nothing really knocked my socks off. Its really too bad, it could be really good!

  3. I love the maxi! My box arrives next week and I’m getting the twist top(I don’t wait to be surprised, I look at “rate my items” as soon as it ships). Seeing how great that maxi looks on you, I may order another box and get that maxi for myself!

    • Omg Lynne you are brilliant! I never thought to do that! Thanks!

  4. That maxi dress looks fabulous on you!

    • Thanks Lisa!

  5. Love the Maxi dress. You look great in it. I wish I could wear Maxi dresses. It’s hard for me to find ones that don’t drag on the ground. When did people get so tall? When I was in my twenties I had no problem finding jeans, long skirts and dresses that fit. Now I need to buy short or petite sizes. I don’t think being 5’4″ is especially short. Sorry for the rant. Just really wanted to comment that you look fantastic in that dress and the tops.

    • LOL, thanks Lesilie! I am just shy of 5’4″ myself and I totally sympathize. I have to have everything taken up.

    • at 5’9″ I am lucky to find pants long enough…forget crops they pull up like knickers..they might be marketing to the 5’6″ers but they definitely are not marketing to us taller ones….and we can’t alter clothes to make them taller! I tried Dia for a month and noted my height and they sent me pants that I could not even pull up to my waist they were so short..I am thinking about giving them another go in the fall. Thanks for the reviews and the photos! It really helps to see them on a “real person”! I wonder if you think that Zenobia runs true to size or small? I shop thredup and they have a lot of Zenobia items but they look small to me so I haven’t tried yet.

      • Thanks Tiara! Good question, and yes, Zenobia does run a tad small.

  6. What cool items! I really loved those tops on you! They seem perfect and man even if you gave that twist top in another color I’d be tempted to keep it if I could find room in my budget. I love the second dress too. You do look very screen siren classic Hollywood in that dress. Hello Marilyn! ;-).
That first dress does feel very old fashioned. It doesn’t feel like it fits with the Dia styling.
And the accessories…meh. I would say if someone likes accessories like that they should just wait until they have a Baublebar coupon (which they have almost always) and then they can choose the exact piece they want. Outside if those first 2 pieces I would love to get those last three items if they fit me as well as they fit you.

    • Thanks Loba!

  7. Do they give price range options? I notice this review was significantly lower in cost compared to your last review.
I love that you post pics of you modeling the items…that really helps.
AND…that boxy dress reminds me of the burlap sack dresses that my mother wore when she was little. I don’t think it would look flattering on any female!

    • Thanks Bonny! I know, right? Yes, they do give you the opportunity on both your quiz and when you rate your items to give input about what kind of price range you would prefer. I hope this helps!

  8. That top looks great on you, don’t send it back! When I find something that’s perfect for me I tend to buy a couple different colors, it’s worth it if it makes you feel good when you wear it.

    • Kay is right, you should definitely keep it!

      • LOL, thanks y’all!

  9. All this outfit modeling is SO great Anna! It’s like when you go clothes shopping with a friend and you open the dressing room doors when each of you are ready- then go over the merits & drawbacks of each item. So fun!

    • I’m so glad you like it Wendy! I wish we could do this live. We need to have a live event for styling boxes where everyone can do that via video. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

  10. Love your reviews and seeing your picture wearing the clothing. You are so rights about the mable dress. What are they thinking. I love love your sunglasses. Where did you get them?

    • Thanks Catherine! Um, I think I got the sunglasses… from a box… LOL! They are Quay, though, so maybe you can find them on Google?

      • I was just going to ask are those the sunglasses from The Voice box? I got those and wear them all the time; I wasn’t sure whether they look good or weird. They look good ??

        • Sad when I saw the sunglasses lost them in the lake.
