Degustabox includes a full breakdown of the box value wise, along with a little bit about each product. This month they also included a little extra about the aloe vera drink in the box, and a sheet with some games on it!

DG5

They also include recipes for using some of the items in the box. This month the recipes are for the White Lily All Purpose Wheat and Grape seed flour.

DG6

Oregon Chai Tea Latte Powdered Mix - $5.29

I love chai, but what I love even more than chai is a dirty chai! I made these with 2 shots of espresso and then topped it off with hot water. I really enjoyed these, and they were gone super quick.

Goya Maria Cookies - $0.99

These are a simple buttery cookie, quite similar to short bread, that is popular across Latin America and Spain. I ate a few of these alongside one of my chai lattes, and it was a delicious snack.

Goetze's Mini Cow Tails - $3.00

These Cow Tales are a caramel and cream chewy candy that have been around for ages. They are available in four flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and caramel apple (I bet these are delicious!!). These candies are nut free, and made in the USA, but it looks like they do contain wheat.

DG7

White Lily White Grape Seed Enriched Flour - $7.99

At first I thought this was a gluten free flour replacement, but it looks like it is just a flour blend for flavor. I went ahead and made the bread recipe on the side of the bag, instead of the recipes included in the pamphlets, because I figured the best way to tell flavor is in something simple and uncluttered. The bread does have honey in it, so there's a slight honey flavor, but what really comes through is the taste of the grape seeds.

DB7a

I am not even exaggerating - this is the best bread I have ever made or eaten, which is saying a lot. I LOVE bread, and this bread is like the epitome of what bread is.

Popchips Potato Ridges - $1.25

I really love Popchips, and I really love chips with ridges, so these are my happy place. The only thing I love more than Popchips and chips with ridges, is cheese chips. Needless to say, I'm very happy with these.

DG8

Vermont Smoke and Cure Mini Meat Snacks - Cracked Pepper and Turkey Pepperoni - $3.33

I didn't try these because I'm vegetarian, but I received the Turkey Pepperoni sticks and the Cracked Pepper meat sticks.

Loacker Rose of the Dolomite - $1.76

These chocolates are hazelnut pralines; I received the milk chocolate, or original version. I really enjoyed these! They're like a little Nutella truffle - who can say no to that?

DG9

Alo Pulp Free Drink - $1.69

This aloe drink is flavored with mangosteen and mango. I've never tried aloe drinks before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really liked it. This tastes like the tropics in your mouth! There was no aftertaste, but it was quite sweet!

Sir Kensington's Chipotle Mayonnaise - $5.99

This mayonnaise has been the darling of several boxes lately. I don't even know how many times I've received it at this point. This mayonnaise has adobo, cumin, garlic and tomato, and is rumored to be the "perfect accompaniment to fish tacos, grilled corn, and anything that lies between two slices of bread." If you're a mayonnaise fan, I'm sure you'll love this. For me? I don't like mayonnaise, even when it's flavored with my favorite chili.

DG10

Honey Bunches of Oats with Real Strawberries - $2.83

I always enjoy Honey Bunches of Oats cereals, so I knew this would be a winner for me. If you're looking for a way to enjoy this outside of straight up with milk, I suggest a deconstructed milk shake of sorts - vanilla ice cream, this cereal, and then a bit of milk drizzled atop! I guarantee it will kick this up a notch.

DG11

Here's my mid morning snack with my Goya cookies and Oregon Chai - I think I'll do it again tomorrow!

Verdict: This is my second Degustabox, and I'm really impressed at how much they include for $19.99. The value of this box is about $34.12. It has a nice mixture of items that you're sure to get use of at some point or another. I also really like that they include both full size items and sample sizes - there's really something here for everyone!

Have you tried Degustabox yet?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

10 minutes ago, I was able to order the September “Italy Box” for $6.99. You must use the code: LABORDAY16.

I got the box this month and it has some great things in it. I’ll admit though, mine was packed weirdly. Things like putting the box of cereal on the bottom, under everything but the flour, so that the box is crushed. They did do well with including bubble wrap around the mayo and drink though. I also, instead of 6 beef sticks, got 4 and an odd melatonin oral spray to help you sleep. That substitution seems really random and confusing!
I do have one major annoyance with this box though – the description of the box (“Degustabox is a subscription box that sends out food items that are new to the market. You won’t always be able to find these items in stores yet!”) is really false/misleading. Like, I’ve been drinking oregon chai for a decade and eating cow tales since I was a kid. And while the strawberry is a newer flavor (but still out for years) of honey bunches of oats (another thing I’ve been eating for more than 2 decades), it’s not actually new. And, I mean, the fact that I’ve been consuming these for at least a decade indicates I like them, so I will very definitely consume them, and with pleasure! I just think it’s disengenous to be saying it’s mostly new products when so many aren’t even remotely new. Hopefully with a couple more months they’ll be better established and send out more new stuff, and fewer ‘oldy but goody’ things.

Degusta is also “taste” or “to taste” in Spanish. If i wasn’t on a low carb diet I’d get this one in a heartbeat. Seems fun and a great value.

Ok. You can’t post best bread ever and not include a recipe! That’s just mean! Please please share

Here’s the recipe from the side of the bag (which Bekki said she used):
1 1/2 cups warm water (100-110F), 1 (1/4 oz) packet active dry yeast, 1/4 c honey, 2 tbsp softened butter, 3 3/4 to 4 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp salt.
Mix water and yeast. Let stand 5 min. add honey and butter. Blend in 2 cups flour and salt with electric mixer on low speed until moistened. Beat on medium speed 3 min.
Stir in 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 c flour, until dough pulls away from sides of bowl. Knead on floured surface, adding 1/2 to 3/4 cup flour, until dough is mooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Place in large greased bowl. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size, 30 to 45 min.
Punch down dough. Shape into loaf. Place in greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover loosely with greased plastic wrap. Let rise in war place until doubled in size, 30 to 45 min.
Heat oven to 350 F. Uncover dough. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow when lightly tapped. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.

I’m planning to make some myself tomorrow; I’ve just been lazy. But Bekki’s looks so good!

My cc was declined, my fault of course. This was supposed to be my 2nd box. I updated my card the day after the cutoff time for this box:(! So I just cancelled the whole thing. I feel that a company should be flexible enough to accommodate one day for a customer. When I reached out to them via email- it took two days or so before they emailed me back. They were not customer service friendly and borderline rude! Of course I phoned and I got the voicemail everytime I called. I loved the idea and the products in this box. Not the customer service.

They didn’t bother to tell me that they took my money or that they returned my money.

Out of all the food boxes I find this one to be sooooo worth it. I have had just about every snack box, candy, some international too and most sound like such a deal and are until I get them. I also don’t have the money to be buying 49 dollar and for 4 to 5 items. Anyway I almost pasaed out when I got my first box and it only costs 9.99 and free shipping. These boxes have to be expensive. I got my second box like 2 weeks ago and I still think its so worth it. For me this is the best food box stuffed with a really great price too
I didnt get the cereal though because this is isnt a new cereal. Maybe a new picture on the outside of the box.

I had an odd thing happen with this box. I used a coupon and ordered. They took the my money. They didn’t send a confirmation. Then 2 days later they refunded my money and still didn’t send me any e-mail or anything. To this day, I haven’t a clue what happened and why.

I think this will be the first food box I’ll try! There was a coupon on an earlier review…would it still work?

I have wanted to try this flour since the first time I saw it, and that is some praise, Bekki! I’ve seen others talk about cow tales, but I’ve never had one. Did you like them, Bekki?

No interest in the meat sticks. I like mayo well enough, but can someone tell me is this really hot?

Your bread looks delicious. Did you use a machine?

Well, finally… a food box that exceeds the purchase price and my expectations!

I love this box it has a little bit of everything. Could have done without the meat sticks , but all in all a fantastic boxes can’t wait for September.

LOL, I swear I read the name of the box as Digustabox (as in disgusting). Before reading the box description I assumed it was a food box of things like thiose gross Harry Potter ear wax jelly beans, and candy bugs, etc. It seems like a fun subscription though, but their name could use an upgrade.

Luisa

The name seems to come from “degustation” which means tasting small amounts of a variety of foods, slowly, in order to savor and enjoy each thing. Think tapas or dim sum. Not a word you hear in everyday conversation, but appropriate for this sub, I think.

Kiwi

Me too! I thought it was a wacky food box (think chocolate covered bugs).

I completely agree on the name thing!
