CandyClub-August-2016-CustomBox

Candy Club now offers subscribers the ability to customize their boxes! I think this is a fantastic new option, and I jumped at the chance to pick my candies this month!

I signed up for the “Custom Box” on the Candy Club website, which allowed me to select my three main candies for the month. (FYI- I was able to choose three out of the four candies I received in my box. The three candies I selected were sent in Candy Club’s signature plastic and tin containers. The loose, individually-wrapped candies were still a surprise.)

I was able to choose from 33 different kinds of candy.

CandyClub-August-2016-CuratedBox

For subscribers who prefer a surprise every month, Candy Club also offers a “Curated Box.” The “Curated Box” contains candies that are selected for you based on your personal taste. You can choose whether to receive sweet candy, sour candy, or a mix of both.

CandyClub-August-2016-Envelope

I received an envelope that contained an info card for each of the candies in my shipment.

Gustaf's Sour Apple Laces

I love sour candy, and these laces are delightfully tart. The juicy apple flavor is yummy, and the coating of sour dust makes these laces wonderfully mouth-puckering.

Gustaf's Jelly Babies

Jelly Babies are very popular in Britain, and they’re one of my favorite candies of all time! The gummy centers are softer and less chewy than gummy bears, and the candies are covered in a light starch coating that keeps them from sticking together. The fruity flavors are all really tasty.

Vidal Gummy Chicken Feet

How in the world could I resist the opportunity to try such a strange treat?! I’ve never seen gummy chicken feet for sale before, and I’m always up for trying something new. These gummies are strawberry flavored, and they actually taste really great! I’m going to bookmark this offbeat candy because I think it would be perfect to serve at a halloween party.

Primrose Double Honey Hard Candies

I’ve received these Primrose toffees before, and I really like them. They’re rich, chewy, and they come in a variety of flavors.

Verdict: I really enjoy my monthly shipment of candy from Candy Club, and I’m so excited that they now offer customization! I had a lot of fun picking out my candy this month. In terms of value, Candy Club says on their website that each box will have a retail value of $60. You can certainly pay that much for candy at high-end candy stores (like Sugarfina and Dylan's Candy Bar), but I think it’s important to point out that nearly all of the candy in this month’s box is available for much less if you buy it in bulk online. Still, even though this subscription doesn’t offer superb value for money, I think it’s a lot of fun.

I’d love to have this box as a gift for my tween daughter but I can’t justify the cost considering these candies cost pennies on the dollar when purchased in bulk; the cost almost equates to $10/lb and I can do so much better and support my local candy store for much less.

FYI… Chicken feet are popular in Chinese cuisine. Interesting gummies!

I just re-subscribed to Candy Club. I cancelled because I wasn’t happy receiving candy I didn’t like for such a high price. Now that I can choose my candy it’s still not a bargain but it’s fun and at least I get things I like!

I loved this subscription but had to cancel due to diabetes. If they had a sugar free option, I would sign right back up.

I totally agree. It is a fun box, but i feel the value is a bit much. That I can spoil myself at the local high end candy shops for much less.
