Bespoke Post always sends out a card with your box selection. It’ll give you details about the items in your box, and reasons they selected each one.

They’ll always include extra information on the back. This month, it’s a tutorial on cooking with an Iron Skillet – which is included in the box!

Old Mountain Cast Iron Skillet – Value $20-25?

I based my value on the 4.5″ diameter cast iron skillet in Bespoke Post’s Store. This is a 10.5″ diameter cast iron skillet. It’s very well made and worked really well. We found that it heated up, and got super hot, really quick – we adjusted our gas burner a couple times before getting it just right – which was essentially the lowest possible flame.

I was really happy to receive this in the box – it’s going to be my default breakfast skillet now, instead my flat oven-top skillet.

Gotham Textile Leather Pot Holder – Value $10?

The second item goes with your skillet – it’s a leather pot holder from Gotham Textile.

It fits snuggly on the skillet!

It’s pretty basic, but you can also tell that it’s well-made – and more importantly, worked very well.

Buttermilk & Honey Frontier Flapjack and Waffle Mix, 24 oz – Value $7

Get ready to use your skillet right away – these Kodiak Cakes pancakes are DELICIOUS!

This is a ‘Just Add Water’ mix, like most pancake mixes. The vanilla and honey in this mix is really fantastic, I could really taste it and made this my favorite pancake mix that I’ve had in quite some time.

Trees Knees Maple Syrup, 13.5 oz – Value $12.50

You can’t have pancakes without syrup. I thought this syrup was very good – it wasn’t too watery (which I hate in a syrup), and wasn’t too sweet (which I also hate) – so it really was perfect for my taste. I probably really liked it for the notes of coffee!

Now, put it all together…

Full disclosure, I haven’t had pancakes in quite some time, but I was over-the-moon for these. I thought they were leaps and bounds ahead of the typical ‘just add water’ pancake mix – I’m looking forward to having more!

Bloody Mary Mix, 32 oz – Value $12.99

The final item in the box is a Bloody Mary mix from The Real Dill. Just like the pancake mix was ‘just add water’, this is ‘just add liquor’. You’re going to have to love dill for this to be for you – it has a super strong dill scent. I love all things dill, but I’m not a Bloody Mary drinker, so this was a bit of a compromise for me.

My liquor of choice is Gin. So, we added some to the mix and garnished with a dill pickle, lemon, and lime! This did not turn me into a Bloody Mary drinker, it’s just never been a good drink for me – so I wasn’t in love with this item. Emily also gave it a shot with the classic Bloody Mary liquor – vodka. She also is not a Bloody Mary drinker, but gave it a shot – again, not her favorite either.

I’m sure a regular Bloody Mary drinker would enjoy this, though. It’s a no-brainer way to make a uniquely flavored Bloody Mary.

Verdict: Bespoke Post never lets me down. I’m always amazed by the value, and the high-quality items I receive in my box – I think I literally say that out loud while unboxing, too. This month’s box was great for me, it includes a number of items that’ll I’ll use frequently and only one that wasn’t suited for me. It’s a great advantage that you’ll always know what you’re getting each month. The selection window will open on the first of each month, so be ready to jump on the newly available boxes for your monthly selection as the super popular selections can sell out quickly!

  1. I got thus box and I absolutely love it, I made the pancakes right away after I boiled water/ coated it per the instructions. The syrup was delicious! I too don’t care for Bloody Marys, but I have some family that will absolutely love it. I always feel satisfied with the value of Bespoke boxes!

  2. OMG, looks amazing. I get these Kodiak cakes at Costco, they’re the best. You can use milk and egg, too, to make them even better and add some protein.

  3. I just wanted to say that it’s great they sent a cast iron UNCOATED skillet! Something that most people don’t know – because publicists keep it well hidden – is that Teflon and all the other non-stick pans (and irons!) out there give off chemicals when they heat up.

And at a certain temperature, this chemical will kill any bird nearby instantly. Bird owners have known this, and published this for decades, and yet Dupont and the other makers ignore this.

Food for thought: if the gas kills birds, what is it doing to people’s lungs?

Also yay to real maple syrup. This is very expensive in the stores – even Trader Joe’s – but is much better for those watching their glucose. (Don’t know enough to explain why!)

    • Totally agree about Teflon skillets. They’re not healthy. And don’t even get me started about coating flaking off…

    • I “seasoned” my skillet before using it. I have my mother’s cast iron skillet that she seasoned over the years, and now it is as non-stick as any Teflon or other non-stick surface. One of the tricks is to not wash it with soap. I’m so happy to have another skillet that I can use and pass on to my daughter and future granddaughter.
