Wigglebutt Box is a subscription box for dogs. Items are chosen based on your dog’s size (choose “small” at under 20 pounds, “medium” for dogs 20-50 pounds, and “large” for dogs over 50 pounds). This is a review for a “large” dog box; my dog, Nyx, is a Rottweiler who currently weighs about 83. You can also specify how tough your dog is with his or her toys (“gentle/1,” “average/2,” or “ruff!/3”). For those of you who read my dog box reviews, you’ll know Nyx is in the “ruff!” category.

wigglebuttbox-july-2016-bandana

Paisley Bandana – Value $3 (?)

We get a lot of bandanas in dog subscription boxes. They are fun little extras although Rotties have really thick necks so they don’t usually fit. This bandana would work for some larger breeds, but it was a little small for Nyx.

Magic Coat Super Absorbent Towel (30 x 25) – Value $5.49

This is very useful. Nyx’s long-term prednisone use has done a number on her skin and she needs a bath with medicated shampoo every two weeks. This will be great to help dry her off afterwards.

wigglebuttbox-july-2016-treats

Zuke’s Super Berry Yummy Berry Blend (6 oz) – Value $3.49

I see lots of Zuke’s products in both dog and cat subscription boxes. This particular treat has lots of berries so it is rich in antioxidants. And true to the Wigglebutt Box promise, these are made in the USA and free of wheat, corn, and soy.

N-Bone Pupper Nutter in Peanut Flavor (jumbo) – Value $5.62

This comes in multiple sizes and I’m pleased to say we received “jumbo.” This has a peanut butter flavor and has omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil. This is marketed as “edible and digestible” which is great (Nyx has consumed some toys not marked as such and, while there ended up not being any issues, it never hurts to be careful).

JW Pet Company Megalast Bone – Value $4.11

This is definitely suitable for heavy chewers. We’ve received quite a few JW Pet Company toys in dog subscription boxes and they do hold up quite well.

KONG Squiggles (large elephant) – Value $8.49

Of course Nyx thought this was awesome (squeakers in both ends and appendages to rip off!). And it was more durable than I would have expected.

Small Bone-Shaped Eraser – Value $0.15

I don’t use pencils much anymore but I would’ve loved this as a kid.  erhaps I will send it in a care package to my nieces and nephew (they have bulldogs). (I see these are from US Toy. My mom would occasionally take us to the one in Leawood, KS, when I was a kid. I thought that place was awesome when I was 6 or 7.)

Amazon Basics Dog Waste Bags – Value $0.25

I didn’t know this was part of the Amazon Basics product line. But, um, these are way cheaper than the ones I buy at PetSmart. (Because why spend a lot of money on a baggie designed to pick up dog poop?)

Peace Love Woof Vinyl Decal – Value $4.49

I have another decal I need to put on my car, too. I am guessing people will think that’s a cat’s paw, though, since all my other car decorations revolve around cats. Oh well.

wigglebuttbox-july-2016-nyx

Nyx being thwarted in her attempt to pull the elephant toy apart.

wigglebuttbox-july-2016-nyx2

I like how derpy she looks here.

wigglebuttbox-july-2016-nyxtug

Nyx looks kind of evil here but what it shows is just how far you can stretch the body of this toy. Nyx likes playing tug of war with toys.

Here is the toy after Nyx had it for awhile. I’m impressed at how long the body part held up but I was afraid she was going to swallow a piece of the ear so I had to take it away.

Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $35 for this month’s Wigglebutt Box. That is even with the cost of the box at the month-to-month price, and is a better deal with a long-term subscription. I thought the toys were size-appropriate and also great for heavy chewers (but if you don’t have a heavy chewer, don’t worry, you can select the appropriate toy-destruction level during sign-up). I was also very happy that the treats were grain-free and that everything is currently in production from its manufacturer (no closeouts or overstock here!). I was quite pleased with my first Wigglebutt Box!

I’m curious about what you think about the towel after you use it because I went to look it up on Amazon thinking it would be a real lifesaver type of item but it has a 1 star rating with only 5 reviews so…
