I have to be honest, I am so picky with perfumes and scents that I was a bit nervous to have someone else pick them out for me! I filled out a little survey in my account with the perfumes that I currently wear and like, and Scent Trunk chose three samples to send to me. They arrived in a bubble mailer with a box inside. The box had the three samples, cards explaining the perfume, and a little booklet explaining how to apply it and smell it properly!

Scent Trunk also has a points program and you can find out more information about that on their FAQ page! Every purchase earns points that you can redeem for store credit at Scent Trunk.

Evening Edged in Gold by Ineke - $7.50?

Scent Trunk says this about the perfume and designer: "Young Ineke is inspired by gold this time and she created this perfume with a touch and scent, which are associated with this optimistic colour." The Top notes are osmathus and plum, the middle notes are Angel's Trumpet, and the base notes are leather and woodsy notes. The longevity is rated a 4 and the sillage is rated a 3.

This is my favorite scent of the bunch, but I would have to wear it on days when I had zero chance of a headache. This is the type of scent that could quickly become cloying and nauseating - it is pretty sweet.

Perfect Gardenia by Sarah Horowitz Parfums - $12.00?

Scent Trunk describes this one as: "Perfect Gardenia is a captivatingly nature-identical tribute to the scent of gardenias in full-bloom. Evoking the crispness of the flower’s leaves, the creaminess of its petals and the subtle smell of the earth from which it grows, it transforms one’s aura with its intoxicating beauty." The top note is gardenia, the middle note is green notes, and the base notes are vanilla and musk. The longevity of this one is rated 3 and the sillage is also rated a 3.

For me, this one quickly crosses over into 90-year-old lady territory when immediately sprayed (nothing wrong with that, but the scent is a bit old for me). It softens after time though, and mellows out into something that might be wearable!

New York 1955 by 4160 Tuesdays - $6.00?

Scent Trunk describes this one as: "For New York 1955 we’ve transported the dessert theme over the Atlantic to a New York milk bar, turned up the volume, piled it with vanilla ice cream and raspberries, loaded it with candy floss, crystalised roses and violets, and smoothed it with soft, huggable musks and ambergris.”  The top note of this one is candy floss, the middle notes are rose and violet, and the base note is musk and vanilla. The longevity of this one is rated a 3, and the sillage is rated a 4.

This is a tooth achingly sweet perfume. The description on Scent Trunk's website is pretty accurate - this is the dessert of perfumes. This is my least favorite of the bunch for sure.

Verdict: This month was more of a bust for me - I really only liked one of the perfumes. The value is a bit better than last month, but a value judgement on this box is hard to do, since Scent Trunk doesn't list the sizes of the bottles they sell. As a consumer, I would love to see the size of perfume I was purchasing, so hopefully they add that in the future! Since I can't really give an accurate value of the box, I hesitate to even calculate my estimations and give a total. It definitely meets the cost of the box, but I think a lot of the value of this subscription lies in the curation and possibly the points system to purchase a full bottle.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I was with Scent Trunk for about 4 months, but never really got any perfume that I really liked based on my profile. I ended up cancelling.

‘Niche’ fragrances are a nice idea, but I’m much more satisfied with already established fragrances via ScentBird.

See, they aren’t curating individually anymore it seems. I got the same. And I REALLY doubt we have the exact same taste. There are like 30 perfumes on there that are right up my alley, and after a year, I still haven’t received one. I wish we could choose our own samples.

Great review & Rose, your comment is very helpful. I just signed up for Scent Trunk & the initial scent/free trial is due to arrive tomorrow. I’d already read reviews somewhere that everyone receives the same first scent, that gave me pause. But now it appears there’s no personalization whatsoever & they don’t list the sizes of the bottles they’re selling? What’s up with that? I love perfumes & am always on the lookout for a new favorite, but there are other perfume Subs & I think I’ll go with one of those. Thanks again.??
