To start with, I filled out a little survey in my account with the colognes that my husband currently wears and likes, and Scent Trunk chose three samples to send to us.  They arrived in a bubble mailer with a box inside.  The box had the three samples, cards explaining the perfume, and a little booklet explaining how to apply it and smell it properly!

Scent Trunk also has a points program and you can find out more information about that on their FAQ page! Every purchase earns points that you can redeem for store credit at Scent Trunk.

Regal Secret by Auphorie – $11.88

The perfumer Eugene Au weaves this little tale about this cologne: “Once upon a time there was a royal dynasty that had ruled to Central Land for more than a century. The secret of the royal scent was one of the many untold stories inside the magnificent imperial palace. This unique scent that reveals the untold stories of the royal families from the past.” The top notes of this cologne are bergamot, fig, and cassis. The middle notes are rose and lavender, and the base notes are vanilla and heliotrope. The longevity is rated 4 out of 5 and the sillage is rated 4 out of 5 as well.

There is something in this cologne that doesn’t agree with me, but I can’t pinpoint what it is. It’s a bit sweet for a traditional men’s cologne and it is very strong. This is definitely one that you only need one spritz of!

Pour Lui by Chateau de Versailles – $4.56

Scent Trunk says this about Pour Lui: “Pour Lui allows a man to surround himself with a sensual woody scent whether inside the house or out. Deep, citrus notes of lime and mandarin orange combine with the aromatic spice of nutmeg. Violet and amber notes bring an earthiness to this scent that tells everyone this man is rugged and knows how to handle himself outdoors.” The top notes are lime and mandarin orange, the middle notes are cyclamen and sea notes and the base notes are cedar and oakmoss. The longevity is rated a 3 out of 5 and the sillage is rated 3 out of 5 as well.

I like this one! It smells very light and citrusy – and definitely reminds me of the ocean. The scent remains really fresh too; this is definitely a great summer cologne.

Cypress White Cedar by Note Fragrances – $7.40

This scent is described as: “inspired by walks through the Finger Lakes National Forest in upstate NY in each of the seasons. With each sniff, you can smell a season coming through. Icy walks in the winter and green freshness in the early spring. Crushes leaves of the fall and soft white linen hanging in the summer. Its pays homage to stillness and reflectiveness a walk can bring. It’s a fragrance you want to curl up in.” The top notes are bergamot and white linen, the middle notes are green apple and bay laurel and the base notes are cypress and white patchouli. The longevity is rated 3 out of 5 and the sillage is rated 3 out of 5.

I love this one even more than the Pour Lui! The scent is fresh and warm at the same time, and it smells really manly (whatever that means!). I couldn’t stop smelling my hand after accidentally spritzing my hand and the card!

Verdict: This month of Scent Trunk was better for the men’s subscription than the women’s for me. I really liked two of the colognes sent – they smelled amazing and matched my preferences. The value of this Scent Trunk was easier to calculate, since it looks like they have the size of the colognes listed (I couldn’t find this information on their website for the perfumes I received in the Women’s Scent Trunk.) They also listed the size and price on each of my card, even though in at least one case it was incorrect. With the values calculated for these samples, this box is about $23.84 in value – which is great!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane…the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane…but she’s always looking for a new subscription to try!
