REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - BOX

Revive Clothing Depot
4.3 overall rating
3 Ratings | 2 Reviews

Revive Clothing Depot is a used clothing boutique and online consignment shop! They’ve recently released a monthly bundle/subscription – basically, you pay each month to receive credits on your account, which you can then redeem at any point in the month to pick the items you want, regardless of the items’ selling prices! You can also pick your items at any point during the month, at once or at different times.

They also offer a stylist option, where you have a short conversation with a stylist either over the phone or email, and you fill out a thorough style profile and a stylist picks out the items in your box for you! This is a review of a stylist box.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - info

So, as I’ve said, this was a stylist-picked box! To provide some more detail about how this works, Revive’s stylist options are add-ons to your regular purchase. The $4.99 stylist option add-on allows you to get access to discussion and tips from Revive’s stylist team.

This is a review of the Personal Shopper option which is an extra $9.99 to your monthly bundle, which is where the stylist curates your whole box for you. I was emailed by my stylist, filled out a very thorough form about my style/wardrobe/fashion needs/etc for her, and she asked if I would like to see a preview of the items she picked or be surprised. I chose to see a preview and from there I asked to swap an item out for something different. She did, and with my okay she sent my items to me! Shipping was super fast.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 1

Isaac Mizrahi Live Lace Blouse – value: $38?

Ann Taylor Loft Khaki Trousers – value: $48?

Neither of these items are ones I would pick up for myself at a store but I’m so glad my stylist picked them for me! This top is a beautiful color and I like the design/fit a lot more than I expected to. And I’ve never own a pair of neutral pants like this and I love these – they fit well, are stretchy and comfortable, have a great zipper detail on the calves, and I think the color is just right so it doesn’t look like I’m not wearing pants (which is what scares me about khaki/neutral skinnies!).

Also worth mentioning: I’m impressed and happy with these brands! Plus, both of these are in fantastic condition.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 2

Elie Tahari Gathered Neck Tee – value: $22.99?

This tee is great. It’s in great condition, is a beautiful color, fits great, is flattering, and comfortable!

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 3

Halogen Blouse Tank – value: $26.99?

This may be my favorite item in the whole box. The print is reminiscent of a pretty floral and the material is light and breezy. The neckline detail is cute, too. This is exactly what I’ve been loving this hot summer.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 4

Lavish Tee – value: $17.99?

I wouldn’t have picked this up for myself, either, but I like it more than I thought I would, too. I like the color palette and the curved hemline. The fit is also flattering, and the material is slinky and cool. I’m not sure if I’ll reach for it often but I still think I like it.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 5

Gap Pocketed Dress – value: $28.95?

This dress is cute but waaayyy too short on me. I’m kind of disappointed because I told my stylist I was tall. It’s in good condition so I may gift it to one of my shorter sister-in-laws, but unfortunately I won’t be able to wear this.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 6

Two by Vince Camuto Maxi Dress – value: $24.99?

Unfortunately, this is another disappointment. It feels so 90’s to me, especially when you can feel the fabric. In hindsight, I don’t really know why I didn’t ask for this to be swapped out in my preview. Maybe I missed it, or maybe I passed by it thinking “maybe the stylist will surprise me with the things she picked…” Oh, well. In fairness, I liked the other items I’d never pick for myself, so this is just the other side of the coin for that risk.

REVIVE DEPOT JULY 2016 - items 7

Ann Taylor Loft Striped Top – value: $19.99?

This top is striped on the front and sleeves, and the back is a solid grey. I like it! My hair is blocking it, but there’s a little pocket on the left of the front, too. The material is thin but not so much that I have to wear a cami underneath. This item is in probably the least good condition of all these items, but it’s still not bad. It just feels the most used.

Verdict: This was a pretty good Revive Clothing Depot Bundle! The 8-item bundle costs $14.99/month and the personal shopper stylist add on is an extra $9.99, so this box total costs $24.99. It’s hard to find exact values for these items, so I had to guesstimate a bit, but I’m confident I got at least $200 of merchandise, which is fantastic. All in all, I’m happy with this box. A couple items were misses for me, but I could have been more discerning when my stylist sent me my preview and asked her to swap more things out, so that’s certainly on me to some extent.

Hi,

I completely follow you and value your opinions. I am currently trying Revive. I am not happy. Here’s my issues all wrapped up: First month, used a stylist, filled out entire questionnaire and she sent a lot of junior fits. I am 42. I also said that I am not a fan or yellow and orange, and I got both. Ok, so I did get a few outfits that I like. My thoughts, try it again. I have to do it anyway because I cannot cancel. I am in my second month and they billed me for a stylist. No biggie, so I requested a stylist switch last weekend, and I am waiting for a new stylist. I have to say that I also use Le Tote and have ordered many makeup subscriptions and I am very happy with them. Although, I did try Stitch Fix and it was just too expensive and their stylists had their own ideas too.

Here’s to hoping that Revive can turn it around.

Can anyone tell me how to manage your account? I go to my account page, but I can’t click on any options except for address.

Question: do you keep the items or is this a wear/return sub?

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

You keep the items. 🙂 It’s a great deal!

It’s worth noting that the coupon code works for 20% off anything, including the flat-rate shipping and monthly stylist fee. I chose the 6-month bundle with $7 flat-rate shipping and the $9.99 stylist, and my total came to $73 for the month. The next five months will only be charged shipping and stylist, and the 20% carried over (making them $13.59!).

Basically, TOTALLY worth purchasing the 6-month option, since you have to sign up for six months anyway!

Heidi

How long after signing up for the stylist option do they contact you?

Tiffany Wheat

So I signed up for the stylist portion, how does this work? Do they contact me?

In regards to the shipping, it probably depends on where you live. I’m in PA & when I added 16 items to my cart (just to see what shipping would be), I had the option to pay only $5 for 5-7 day shipping. You can pay more if you want expedited shipping, but I thought that was SUPER reasonable considering I had a sweatshirt & 2 pairs of jeans/pants included in that box. Anyway, I went ahead & signed up & got 15 items for just $19.99/month. I used the MSA coupon, which made it the whole deal even sweeter. Also, I don’t know how long this will last, but they are giving FREE shipping for the first month. So, my 15 count order that I put through was shipped for free. Doing the happy dance here… 🙂

I am having so much fun with this sub. I am a thrifter to begin with so the thought of Preowned clothing is fine with me. I have received the 8 item box and love being able to get for myself, spouse, kids. I have been able to get several new items Ralph Lauren shirt for son, J Jill shirt for me and Sketcher shoes for hubby. The rest looks almost new. One shirt was listed wrong size on website I am a Large and was shipped a Large Petite and a sweater had a hole in the seam. They have great customer service and I have two credits in my account to replace these items with something else.
The items are wrapped nicely but do have a bit of a funny smell but one wash and it is gone. My only wish is that they would list new/more items with greater frequency!

Interested in signing up, but it’s quite confusing! On the sign up option there are 3 options — the 4 for $10, 8 for $15 or 15 for $25. Then under the custom crate the options are for 4 for $8, 8 for $10, 15 for $16 or 25 for $30. How are all these options different? Do any include shipping? How do you add on the $10 a month shipping? Also can these items be bags or shoes, or is that only if you add them on and get a certain number of bags and shoes each month? This sounds like a great sub! I’m just a bit confused about the signup options.

My major issue with Revive Depot has been the sizing. I wear XL, but they don’t seem to differentiate between sizes based on anything but the tag.

Three items purchased were tagged XL but they were actually juniors or misses XL, not regular women’s sizes.

The quality of all the items I received has been in good condition however.

I can’t get the stylist and personal shopper options to show up. I guess they don’t want my money.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

I only saw these options when I went into the custom crate subscription (below the three sub types). It seems like you could add them from there, then delete the custom crate once you get to your cart page.

This is my most favorite sub to date. I have a ‘trunk’ subscription (contact them for additional details aka custom crate), but I get 25 pieces a month and it comes to under $3 per piece (with shipping). I have all month to use the credits, although they do ask that you don’t piece-mill your order (I did three shipments for July). I have been a member of this sub for two months, and so far I have no complaints to the quality of the items and the contents packaged quite lovingly. I only find myself having 1 fear about this sub, and that is that they don’t last. I am a thrifter for 99% of my clothing, and can say this is an awesome price for what all they offer. My ‘most valuable’ find to date new with tag pair of Parish men shorts that were $89.00 RSP.

I personally will never use the new Stylist portion, but could see where that might benefit someone who doesn’t quite know what they want or doesn’t want to dedicate time searching the site (just like a brick store store, it can be quite time consuming). However, I personally LOVE the hunt, so .. 🙂

Since you’ve been a member for 2 months, could you tell us how often they list new items? I picked out my items for this month, but am hoping for some fresh things to pick from for next month.

Hi! It seems to be about once a week from what I have seen.

Janet

Saw this on your site so signed up for the package where you can create your own. (There is a customizable option – I went with the 15 pcs, no accessories or shoes, for $15, I think).

I got my first shipment and so far, I think it’s pretty cool. I’m going to have to return half of them because they’re not quite what I thought they would be but the other half was pretty good.

The big issue for me is the moth-ball type of smell from the clothes. I washed the ones I’m keeping (one batch with vinegar as suggested by online contributors and another with OxyClean. I recommend the latter.)

The mobile website is not that fantastic but manageable. The APP? Horrible. Stick to using your desktop or mobile.

All in all. Decent subscription for a really really low price. Happy shopping!

I Really think the Gap Pocketed dress Would really be cute with a pair of skinny white jeans,It would be so pretty on you Haley.?

Katy

I was thinking that too…skinnies or leggings might work with it.

This sounds really interesting but I’m still confused about how it works. It seems like you have to sign up for a 6 month sub, right? Can you skip a month if you don’t need something and then use that month later on? Also, what are the shipping costs per month? I saw in the last month’s review that there were several comments with different amounts indicated and I can’t find the info on their website at all. If you don’t get the stylist option, you just choose your 4/8/15 items yourself, correct?

Haley, you’re such a good model!

Reply ButtonReply

vane

you got great items! i tried signing up but not sure if it did free shipping for mine. i did the $9.99 a month but i still got charged $11.99? not sure if the code works.

Reply ButtonReply

vane

looking at my email confirmation I was charged $7.99 (20% off $9.99) for the subscription and $4 (20% off $5) for shipping.

so in the end I did not get free shipping, I got 20% off shipping? weird.

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

Do you have to pay extra for shipping? I was about to sign up & there’s an option that says you can get flat rate $10 shipping or you pay for shipping as you go? Also, I’m confused as to whether you pick all of your items for the month & have them shipped in one box (this is what I thought the sub was) or are your items shipped out individually if you want?

This is what it said while I was checking out to pay for the annual box subscription:

Include Flat Rate Shipping to your subscription to ensure no unexpected costs per month
Limited to the first order of each month. Additional shipments normal shipping and handling rules will apply.

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

I have this sub and can answer. The flat rate shipping allows you to order as many times as you want during the month. Say you get the 8pc bundle and only find 3 items you want and ship, then a week later they come out with new items and you find 2 more you want then and you ship, then a week later there is a dress you have to have and you ship that, then on your final week they have a restock and you find your last 2 items and ship those… With the 1mo flat rate shipping all of the shipping for each of those is included for the 10$ fee.

Now if you are able to find all of the items you want in just 1 trip it might be cheaper to just pay the shipping fee which should be 5 or 7$. I do tend to get all of my items in just 1 box but have had 2 boxes before as well. Month 1 an item was damaged so I got credited and went shopping again, the next month I upgraded to the Crate and gave my son the added 7 items which he ordered all at once(i had already gotten my original 8 items already). So I can see how splitting it up could be good since they do get in new items once a week or so added to their site. If you are new though you will most likely be able to find all of your items in just 1 single trip, but become choosier with time

Heather

Your explanation is very helpful, thank you!

Cee

I read your reviews and stalked the Revive site before I caved & signed up. So far it’s been great!

I got my 4 items all at once & everything worked & was in great shape. I snagged 2 tops that were new w/tags. A pair of Levis. In Long! And a nice tank dress w/a light jacket.

Really nice with packaging. Each item was wrapped in tissue and then wrapped clear plastic.

I haven’t tried this option with the stylist yet. Might have to give it a go.

Thanks for introducing me to this sub!
