What do you think of the August 2016 Play! By Sephora box theme spoiler? Any guesses on what will be in the box?

I’m thinking eye cream/serum, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow… (I suppose those are pretty obvious guesses, though!)

    • Hey I’m not sure how to write my own comment on here lol, I’m new. But I thought it would be nice to post that I have been on the Sephora waiting list for 2 months now. I DID NOT receive an email but i went on today and was able to subscribe to thw box so i will be getting my first one next month 🙂 if anyone is waiting go on and try

  2. Oh I’m so excited for the August box! Eye Opener sounds to me maybe we’ll be getting some concealed, eye cream, mascara, shadow, eye primer, lashes (that would be awesome) some liner. Ole Henrikson eye lift would be amazing!

  3. Ugh, the July box was supremely boring considering how hyped up the Sephora sub has been…I have dry skin so don’t need Any blotters, the Ouai was WAY too greasy and sticky and stiff for my fine hair, and a bronzer? Snooze 🙁 I expected way better from a Sephora sub, like the latest/newest products- they had Drunk Elephant and Farmacy samples with purchases, so don’t tell me they can’t include newer exciting brands like those in a sub. And the waterproof version of Too Faced Better Than Sex came out in June, and they haven’t included it in a summer-themed box yet?? If the August box isn’t MUCH better, I’m out. Disappointing.

  4. I usually love Benefit products, but I got the Dew the Hoola in my July box, and it’s kind of awful. I’m really into bronzers and doing a tan, highlighty look right now so I was excited to get it, but it seriously looks like mustard. Yuck! Wondering if it anybody else that got it thought it was usable.

    • I was also extremely disappointed with the box, but was very excited to get in on it. I hope next month isn’t disappointing. Dew the hoola also a bummer. No new products in the box. Smashbox primer not new or exciting either..

      • I already have the Dew the Hoopla. Bought it when it first came out, I use it every day, mostly on my cheeks and the bridge of my nose. I apply with a brush. I only need a tiny but, about half a pump, on each cheek You can use a blender to blend out the harsh line. A cashier at Ulta suggests it can be added to foundation to make it a tad darker for the summer months. I haven’t tried it myself.

    • i use it almost every day.. I’m not super into bronzers but I use my fingers to dab it on then blend it with a beauty blender. I do set it with hoola powder bronzer sample i got from another subscription. I think that blending with a beauty blender and lightly dusting on the hoola powder bronzer gives it a beautiful finish. maybe even using a bronzer that is close in color to set it might help! hope this helps you:)

  5. I received my Jul box today and it was another “womp, womp, womp” month for me. Only one item could really be considered new to the market (Blotterazzi). The rest were products that have been around for some time and/or are dupes of things other subs sent months ago (ouai wave spray mini, Too Faced sample bronzer). The cleanser isn’t terribly exciting and is also a very small size. Compared to other $15 beauty subs, this one just isn’t stacking up well. No full size items (unless you count the BeautyBlender blotter) and very small samples in general. One more month and I’m out.

  6. What about a good eye makeup remover. Im thinking eye openers like products that surprise you by how amazing they work.

  7. Shoot, I was planning to cancel this subscription as I rarely use any of the products, but seeing the August spoiler is making me reconsider. I’m really hoping for a good eye cream or serum and maybe a concealer. I wouldn’t even mind another mascara sample. I think they work better than the full sizes, anyway.

    • I agree. Mascara samples are always better than their full sized counterparts! I live on mascara samples, lol!

  8. Considering on cancelling. i have more than enough mascara’s, unless the mascara is too faced better than sex which is literally the greatest thing in the world. although i can never have enough eyeshadows and lashes. i want to say the new benefit brow line would have something in the box but I’m not sure. does Sephora ever have repeats? sort of new subscriber.

  9. I’m hoping for some false lashes, eye cream or under eye corrector and maybe a shadow or liner in a color other than black since the last few boxes have been slightly low on actual makeup items.

  10. I had luck signing up on the 15th of last month. This month is my first box. Still waiting for this months.

  11. I got my July box today and I love it! Even the perfume. I haven’t tried everything out yet but I absolutely love the Too Faced bronzer. It smells so yummy and looks natural. I’ll be trying out the primer in the morning.

  12. Has anyone received the July box when it said sold out on their account on the website?

    • Did you not get a shipping confirmation? I would check your account to see if your box shipped and email customer service if it says it hasn’t shipped yet.

      • Yeah I never got the email shipping confirmation and when I emailed them last week they told me I had to wait until the 20th to see if I am getting it. Really annoyed with this sub box. They clearly don’t know what they are doing. Letting in more people than they can handle.

        • I’m so annoyed I got the shipping email email on the 14th and doesn’t show any activity since then so I called them and the box was never shipped and I’ve been waiting and waiting, they just offer me a refund. They have no idea what are they doing.

          • Hey Gogi – did you try contacting UPS? Is the tracking showing that the box was picked up/dropped off for shipment?

          • Yes, I called UPS before calling Sephora they told me that Sephora just used their label but the package was never shipped. Bummer

          • That stinks! The only problem I’ve had with my subscription – I’ve had it since the first box – was a shipping problem with the 2nd or 3rd box, but it was misplaced by the post office and I received it a few days later. I was disappointed that they don’t have any replacement boxes for that type of thing, and it sounds like that’s still an issue.

          • The issue is that they oversold the July box and apparently I’m not the only one having this problem, never have this issue in the past, hopefully things will get better for future boxes.

          • I have no idea where my box is either. Sephora won’t respond and ups told me to wait 5 more days. Tracking says it was sent to usps Thursday ( I was supposed to get it Friday) but the post office never got it! Like I saw someone comment, they don’t even have replacement boxes.

  13. I made a reminder for myself to cancel this box after seeing reviews for this month. However, just got my July box and it is sooooo good. I guess I’m bad at judging spoilers and don’t really know which products I need until I actually get them :p

    • I’ve done the same thing, lol. Although I knew I’d like this box especially for the cost, I’ve seen spoilers for other boxes and thought “ugg” but when I actually got it and tried what was in it I was so glad I received what I did.

  14. Anyone know how long the wait list is? I have been on it and haven’t heard anything. Or even a secret on how to get off it??

    • I was on the wait list and hadn’t heard anything.
I happened to purchase an item on the Sephora website.
One day I clicked to purchase Play by Sephora and it allowed me to purchase the subscription.

    • I was on the waitlist for months, too. I just happened to be able to sign up directly on the website last month. I would suggest that you keep checking back towards the end of the month. … when ppl cancel before their cards get charged on the first or second of the following month.

      • Thanks for the ideas!

  15. You know what I’ve never seen, Eyelash curler. I would love to see that in the sephora box, but more than likely it’ll be that benefit kabrow, I’ve seen it so much and some serum or highlighte or primers.

    • Not a sephora box, but I received a really nice eyelash curler in my beauty fix box a few months back 🙂

  16. I hate getting spoilers for the next month of something when I haven’t received my current box.

    • Same! I am liking the box but delivery fulfillment sure is slow.

  17. I hope an eye mask, eye cream, eye brightener/highlighter, under eye concealer/corrector?

  18. Eye-shadow primer would be great, almost out of eye cream so eye creams or serums are welcomed, I think there may be an eye liner or brow product – would be OK with either but prefer the brow products ( I have to draw in my eyebrows whenever I leave home), tweezers are a good possibility; also would love to see a citrus body or face wash cause they really wake me up or a coffee scented lotion/cream or mask, or they can include a headband…the possibilities are a most endless and all very exciting…really looking forward to August’s Sephora Play?

    • MandyC, are there sometimes tools like tweezers in the bag? I desperately need a good pair or a good eyelash curler.

      • Hi Jess, March had a sephora makeup spongequite similar to the beauty blender

        • Thanks, Mandy.

      • Jess, Tweezerman makes The Best tweezers ever! I’m very particular when it comes to brow shaping & found Tweezerman, gosh, 15+ years ago? Then you could only get them at beauty supply stores but now they sell them at Walgreens! You’re going to pay a few bucks for them, but they are totally worth it. They are precision & grab even the thinnest or shortest hair. I have a few pair b/c I sometimes misplace one & am lost without them. HTH. ☺

        • FYI, Sally’s Beauty Supply store sells generic tweezers that are made by Tweezerman. I buy the mini generic for $3.99 and they are exactly like my Tweezerman minis, just without the name printed on them. I think they handle much better than the full size and they work just as well.

  19. I was just saying I have enough eye cream to last me the rest of my life. And 15 mascaras…

    • I think I have like 150 mascaras. Well, a full shoebox any way.

  20. I already know what’s in the boxes. There is two different ones. Hope I get the one I liked.

    • Can you give us the scoop?

      • Sounds like she is referring to the July box (which is the first box to have 2 options).

  21. My guesses are Benefit Gimme Brow, Tarte Lash Paint, KatVonD liquid eyeliner and Clinique Pep Start eye cream. Maybe an Urban Decay eyeshadow as well?

    • This would make me very happy! I don’t need more eyeliners but it’s KatVon D! I didn’t have Play! last time they sent out a KatVonD item and was bummed about it.

Re: brow products, I can’t remember if there was a question on hair color on initial sign-up profile…

      • apparently sometime before these boxes ship, we will take a new survey for them to match our boxes- so they might ask about hair color, etc this time…would also be cool if they matched eyeshadow on eye color (like green/purple for hazel, etc)-but that may be asking for too much 🙂 I’ll be happy if I am sent the correct eyebrow color, etc

      • I don’t recall if it had a hair color question or not but I know you can click back through the profile options. It will show you what you’ve already chosen and allow you to change it if you want. When I found out they were making variants to the boxes based on skin type I went through and checked mine

    • YES PLEASE, what a dream box! 🙂

  22. Id guess an eye cream from the short video… I would be happy with that!

  23. Maybe eyeliner highlight, eye serum, benefit ka brow or eyeshadow.

  24. Either miscellaneous eye stuff as mentioned already and/or stuff to help you wake up and get going in the morning (e.g., energizing body wash/lotion, grapefruit/citrus facial cleansers, caffeine/coffee scrub, etc.) is my guess.

  25. Oh, I like the theme.

  26. No mascara. Please? LOL.

  27. I am thinking an eye mask, eyeliner (hopefully a liquid one), eye brightener/cream

    • I would LOVE an eye mask!

  28. I’m expecting some innovative new eye cream. If they know like we know they will not send mascara LOL. Would this be the month they give out a makeup tool like a brush or tweezers?! Ok I’m getting ahead of myself ?

    • I like the idea of a brush or tool! Fingers crossed.

  29. I haven’t even gotten the July box yet! To funny! 🙂

I would love to get a gel eyeliner, or an eye shadow primer.

    • I just got mine about ten minutes ago. Already used a few things! Lol

      • Mine said it should be delivered today but it doesn’t look like it ever went out on the truck 🙁 I’m hoping it just magically appears….

  30. I’d love under eye corrector- like smashboxs salmon colored one. I’m sure benefit eyebrow products will be there, maybe an eyeliner, definitely an eye cream.

  31. Honestly as long as it does not have bronzer or self-tanner or wave spray I am good.

    • I agree! I hate how that’s the summer beauty focus–I’m so done with summer.

    • Hahaha right!?! Or another mascara.

    • I’m with you on that, and also if I never get another mascara or black eyeliner pencils I’m sure Iwon’t be devastated lol ?

      • Was going to post the same thing. Please no more Mascara. I think I am about set for the next for years, from all the samples I have received, whether in the favorites, beauty subs, or gift with purchase. I have so many new mascaras, I have not had to purchase any in years.

  32. Would love a quality eye cream!

  33. I hope it’s a waterproof liquid liner that stays putt cause I need one really bad for wedding makeup I’m doing next month. At least it’s not a lot of guessing with this box. Probably and eye cream, liner, mascara and concealer? Maybe a shadow or shadow primer? What more do you need for the eyes? Thanks Liz and CM for the heads up!!!!

    • Maybelline Ultra Liner, waterproof liquid eyeliner. It is a tiny brush tip and the bottle is a light silvery-bluish color. That !#%* works! And stays! I have very oily skin and lids and it is impossible to do a dramatic line without it smudging every single time. Every “beauty guru” I’ve asked said the Stila Stay All Day was best, and it is good but still couldn’t hold a cat eye on me. So I went old school with the Maybelline. It will stay as long as you want it just beware that when you do take it off it comes off in tiny pieces, it almost peels off like tiny liquid latex. But I’ve never had anything else work like it!

  34. I agree, mascara seems obvious. Maybe an eye cream or eye gels. I will go out on a limb and predict eyebrow product (maybe benefit’s new one since they are promoting that everywhere). I think they may also be a highlighter-since it is helpful for the opened up look. I am super picky about what I use near my eyes. Hoping for the best!

    • I was also thinking highlighter, Jennifer. Hopefully not the same one that came in July PSMH!

A good eye cream would be a nice addition!
