  1. Not very happy about the August box. The Algenist is my HG eye cream so hopefully I get that, but I HATE that Lancome moisturizer- it’s full of alcohol and painfully dries my usually oily skin skin/makes me break out. I have a million eye pencils and that mascara will not stay put on me. I see lots of trades in my future!

  2. I’m another fence rider, but after thinking through it I’m totally OK with keeping it going for this month. I realized my initial reaction (blahhh) was more because I don’t need this box than that I wouldn’t like it. My thoughts if anyone cares to read them:

*Love getting eye moisturizers. The samples last a long time and buying a full size is always expensive. Both look good but maybe hoping for Algenist.
*Total MUFE fan yet I’ve never tried their shadows, yet!!! It’s probably too much to hope it is full size, but I hope it’s at least a moderate travel size that will last a while.
*Apparently this is that cult mascara that I’ve never tried — I don’t need it, but it will be fun to try.
**Super kudos for a NON black eyeliner. Freaking finally. I hate black eyeliner on me. Universal color my butt! I actually like the Sephora formula too as it stays pretty well and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. I might have this taupe color, but I don’t mind a replacement.
*I remind myself that the fragrance is a bonus, since I’m not that interested. ๐Ÿ™‚
*I’m in love with my ‘green beauty’ skincare right now, but I’ll try this funny ‘literally green’ lotion. I liked a gel-like thing from this line before.

    • Thank you for your comments I appreciate it. I’m also a #Mufe fan but have never tried their eyeshadow.

I like eye creams always! ??

    • The mascara is amazing but hard to take off

  3. Perversion is probably my favorite mascara so I’m definitely excited for this box on that alone. Also looking forward to the eye renewal products since that’s not something currently in my skin routine, would be happy with either one. That eyeshadow looks pretty and I’ve heard good things, I will definitely use it. The pencil I’ll try out too, the colors look nice. The moisturizer I really want to try, liquid moisturizer sounds interesting and I live off of moisturizer samples lol, I don’t even own a full sized moisturizer because I get so many. Looking forward to perfume too for once. Overall a good box, hoping this anonymous tip is at least mostly correct!

  4. Super excited for this box!!! Fingers crossed, I’d live to receive these items!!! The MUFE eyeshadow is such a pretty color, I’ve always wanted to try them out. Ughhh, its still July and I’m already anxiously waiting for the 3rd week of August!!!!!

  5. This box is so much better than Birchbox. Glad I canceled Birchbox for this one.

    • Me too.

  6. I have had this subscription since May and it is quickly becoming my favorite beauty box. I am so excited for the August box!

  7. I am newly off of the wait list and my first bag was July – *loved* it. Looking like I will be enamored with August, too. I am stoked about this sub!

    • How long did you have to wait on the list?

      • Carly, the wait list has been at both extremes. I was on the list for five months, some only a few days. I was unable to log on when slots were opened and they filled quickly.

      • I waited about 2 weeks, then i got my first email asking to go ahead and confirm, and then my first box in July.

  8. I don’t always love everything in this sub, but I definitely end up liking more of the products than I ever have in other boxes. And I’ve found some products that I absolutely loved and now use regularly, like the Becca primer and the Bare Minerals bronzer. If I can test a few products and find a few that I want to purchase and continue using, I’m happy. And the rest go to a friend in the cute little bag, so she’s happy as well!

  9. Sweeeet. I already use that MUFE shade, and LOVE Perversion (though I wish it was WP.) I like the minis because I can put them in my travel makeup case and not have to put my full size ones in there. This is the first box I am actually happy about from them. I don’t know that specific Energie de Vie product but i use several from that line, and I am sure I will dig it.

  10. Oh, I hope these spoilers are correct. I wonder how they’ll decide who gets what. I’m hoping for the Caudalie eye cream, the plum eye pencil, and the Blonde Wood fragrance, though I’d be happy with the alternatives as well. What a good-looking box!

    • Im the same! Fingers crossed!

  11. :Sad Face: Just cancelled. I waited for months to get it and every month for me has been mostly a no for the items. ๐Ÿ™ I guess I am hard to please. I have a zillion mascaras (thanks birchbox) and eyeliners (thanks Ipsy) and the other potential items didn’t excite me. I figure i can swap for whatever I may want. That’s what I was telling myself as I hit the cancel button. LOL

    • Same here. I cancelled after the July box, which was my third box, and after seeing these spoilers I’m not sorry that I did. After having Birchbox and Glossybox, I am way overstocked on eye products. I literally went through all my products this weekend and put aside 4 eyeliners and 3 eye shadows for my sister. I kept a bunch, too! I had 12 mascaras. 12! I use a new one every quarter, so I’m good for the next three years. Well, most likely longer than because I keep buying Target and Amazon beauty boxes.

I think Sephora is a good box, and I like that there are few variations (which are pre-announced), but it is just not the box for me.

      • than that*

      • Ditto. I have really no many samples and I realized that I am in love with lifestyle boxes. I get a bit of everything and 99 percent of the time they are great gifts too. And my boyfriend enjoys opening them with me and gets just as happy because there always seems to be a treat for him too.The LLB mini box he got the cooler for golfing. The Peachesandpetals box in July he got the Bluetooth Radio and he brings that golfing too. Everywhere really. This has nothing to do with the sephora play box and sorry about that too. ?

        • what lifestyle boxes do you enjoy?

  12. I was getting ready to ditch sephora. Looks like I’ll be staying on. I hope this is correct. The same person was right about last month’s spoilers. This looks excellent!

    • Sorry I have hundreds of samples…

  13. I SO hope these spoilers are right!!! โค๏ธ
    I’m living everything I’m seeing!! Can’t wait!!!!

  14. I’m excited! sephora has definitely my favorite box now. It has great products. And they are finally sending perfume samples that aren’t from Tocca.

  15. This looks good for a $10 box. I can’t say I need any of this but I can try and/or use it all except the perfume. I wonder how they’re deciding who gets which box? Maybe it’s random this time. I am hoping for the Algenist but I would be ok with any of it.

  16. This box looks great! Just hoping I get the items I like that are varied!!

    • Same here! Really hoping I get the taupe eye pencil, the Caudalie eye balm, and the blonde rose perfume. Fingers crossed!

      • I think I jinxed myself – just saw my products in the App and I am getting the Algenist eye balm, the plum eye pencil, and Warm Cotton fragrance. Not too bummed though because the plum would probably be nice with my eyecolor (brown) and the scent sounds like a “clean” fragrance, which I like. And if the Algenist helps with my dark circles I will be happy! Just saw the little pouch on Instagram and looks cute!

  17. Eeeeeee!! I love the possible items!!! This is going to be an awesome box!! So excited! I’ll use everything!!

  18. This box rocks! July was a complete bust for me, so it is great to know that I’ll be getting things I can use soon. I <3 Play! by Sephora!!

  19. Wow. I am excited to try everything. Another great box. I agree some of the samples have been tiny, but others, even though small, have been useful for several uses. A couple of larger travel sizes per month or one full size product would be nice, but a lot of these brands aren’t found in other sample boxes, so I am still enjoying it so far.

  20. The best box since they let me subscribe 3 months ago. Love to try all those items, especially eye cream and Lancome moisturizer!

  21. Omg!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Algenist Eye Renewal Balm is my HG (full size retails for $68)!!!! Have received this as a sample from Sephora in the past and it lasts a long time even though it’s small!

  23. Perversion=favorite mascara ever! Love to have one for my purse.

  24. I am less impressed with this box as far as the makeup goes, I never liked the UD Perversion mascara, and I’m not a fan of nudes or similar colors. But I’m super happy about the skincare items, especially the moisturizer!

  25. Okay seriously, the MUFE Artist shadow may be the best shadow EVER (next to Viseart.) It’s gloriously buttery, blendable, and pigmented and has virtually zero fall-out!

  26. WOW! I cannot wait for this box! An eyeliner in a non-black neutral, a beautiful pinkish shimmer eyeshadow, mascara (which is not waterproof so will be gifted), a luxe moisturizer that looks lightweight for summer and has the coolest green bottle (OMG I hope ours is a mini-version of that so much!), both eye cream choices look incredible (I will be psyched to get either and will swap for the other), and CLEAN is one of the few brands of fragrance I tolerate (though I don’t wear it, it will be nice as a room/drawer spray).

This looks like an awesome box, maybe the best beauty box I have ever gotten, and I think I am only not going to use 1 item! HOORAY!

    • I wouldn’t mind them sending more CLEAN perfume samples. I have been trying on what I can in store, and some of it works better on me than others, but I love the concept and the ones that work on me are really wonderful.

  27. Love everything on this list – they’ll all be “new to me” items or from brands/lines I love already like the Caudalie Resveratol. Only thing I’ve tried is the Warm Cotton which I would love another sample of. Hmm…thinking of activating a 2nd Sephora invite I got if it still works since there’s variation now. Loved my 1st box this month – I’ve already purchased 3 items full size. That Smashbox pore-minimizing primer was serious Holy Grail for me.

    • I’ve also purchased the full-size Smashbox Pore-Minimizing Primer based on using the sample too! It made my makeup go on sooo smoothly. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was thinking of purchasing the FAB Clay Cleanser too!

      • I also really really liked the FAB Clay Cleanser – I currently use (and love) the regular version which I think removes eye makeup better at night, but my face is oily, so alternating with the clay version in the mornings really keeps my oil at bay and using it with the Smashbox primer my makeup is staying on ALL DAY no touch-ups. First time ever!

    • I totally agree with you about the Smashbox pore minimizing primer! It’s awesome and applies so light and silky. My nose really appreciates it. Haha. (That’s my worst oily skin area.) As a WOC with a medium skintone, I didn’t think I could use it. So happy I was wrong. Also looks like August will be a good Play! month.

    • Check Smashbox’s site every now and again for sales. I got BOGO a few months ago on primer, plus I got to choose my samples (I chose more primer!). They do have a points system, but you’re probably better off buying from Sephora unless you are getting some awesome sale buying directly from Smashbox.

  28. Yay I love everything!! The eye shadow is beautiful! Love that it has more makeup products! I would be happy with any of the different options but if I could choose I would pick the eye lifting serum, beige eyeliner & Clean Reserve Rose perfume because I already own the Warm Cotton & love it. The Rose sounds interesting too because it says a man could wear it… I hate most rose scented things (why don’t they ever smell like a real rose?!?) but I think this must smell way different than the usual rose scented things if a man could wear it.

  29. I can’t wai t for this box! I love CLEAN frangrances and everything else will be a hit!

  30. I was hoping for more beauty and less make up. I am thinking of canceling but then I am like it is $10 and it could get better. Going to my first Sephora party on Thursday so I hope it gets me excited! Glad no more bronzer!

    • I love the makeup and am glad there have been several makeup items in every box so far that I’ve received. My skincare routine is pretty set, but I am unashamedly a makeup addict.

  31. I hate how they took the cute lipstick box away!!! Many reasons why I cancelled…

    • P.S. It looks much darker on Sephora’s website than on MUFE’s website.

    • The color is called Pinky beige.

      • Pinky Beige is color #I-524, Pink Granite is the color that Liz listed, #I-544.

    • Yikes that is really pink. Guess you could mix in it with some lip balm, make a pink gloss if you don’t want to use it as a shadow.

      • Just FYI, make sure you are looking at the right one. When I pulled up the link it showed this bright pink colored named flamingo or something. You have to scroll down in the color box to get to the right one. I totally did a “blech” face till I noticed it was the wrong color. The right one is actually a really pretty pink-brownish color that I love! I think it’ll go really well with the UD fireball shadow I got from ipsy a while back. ? (PS. OP thank you for the link! It looks so much different on sephora’s site and I was very meh about it til I saw your link!)

  32. make shipments to Canada please!!!

    • please! we want Sephora Play! too!!

  33. I’m not sure feel about this sub anymore. I was totally and utterly stoked to get it, but now every month, I’m like …meh…

Even when I am excited about an included item, it’s pretty small. I’m really considering canceling but I’m suffering from FOMO if it gets really good again and I’m stuck on that forsaken waitlist again.

    What to do!?!

    • #theFOMOisreal : )

      • PREACH! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I feel the same way…I’m stuck in that “one more box, then I’ll cancel” rut. I’ve said that for the last 2 boxes but I never can quite pull the trigger to cancel.

And I agree, the samples are all so tiny I don’t get much of a sense for the product. I just end up staring at my growing pile of tiny little tubes of stuff and feeling guilty that I haven’t used them. I often just end up giving them away as extras in my swaps. I think I would prefer it if they would increase the price a little and include larger samples or maybe even a full size item or two. This is feeling a little too much like Birchbox.

“One more box, then I’ll cancel”. (Ha!!)

      • Exactly! Just one more month for me has turned into month 3 of asking myself why I’m pay $10 for this.

I realized how unhappy I was becoming with Play when I opened my Walmart and Play boxes at the same time. Walmart’s samples were way bigger and plentiful, and frankly more my personal taste.

    • My first box was May and I was so disappointed in the tiny sizes. I had said then, if it doesn’t go back to how it was previously, I would cancel. I actually really like the July box though. The sizes are still pretty small though. I’m riding the fence on this box. Not quite ready to get off of it, after being on the wait list since it started.
I keep hoping it will go back to what it was, before all those spots opened up in May.

  34. This sounds so much better than this month’s box. I also wish we would all get the same products.

  35. Thanks, tipster! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m blah on the mascara and the eye balm. The eyeshadow and eyepencil both look like something I will use. I am interested to try a LIQUID moisturizer. That sounds crazy. I have liked other scents from Clean although typically the perfume samples from boxes don’t do it for me.

This isn’t an OMG box for me so far but for $10 and extra Sephora points it doesn’t have to be either as long as I like a couple things.

    • I am new to Play, what are the extra points?

      • The July box was my first, but there was a card in there good until the end of August for 50 extra Sephora points with any purchase. Looks like it has to be in store FYI.

  36. I’m actually excited for this box. I wasn’t crazy about The last three but I’ve been dying to try The new lancome products without having To shell Out for That price tag. And no matter how much eyeshadow I have I always want more lol and have never tried MUFE. The rest of the items are ok.

I wish they would add the sephora brand creamy lip stain to a box because that stuff is magic

  37. Yay! I just noticed you can cancel and update addresses through the website. No more having to call customer service!

    • It still won’t let me change my address. When I select the default address it just tells me it can’t fill that field, reverts right back to the one I don’t want.

  38. I am excited, all the colors are good. I have 2 boxes, and they have different profiles, so hopefully I can get all the variations. I do not use mascara, and I think even without the mascaras, the value is still good.

    • I plan on doing this too now that I know they offer variations. I’m just waiting until they finally accept one of my other email addresses.

  39. So far I have received three boxes and I have really enjoyed them. However, I really wish they would stick to just giving everyone the same thing. Not going to lie, I get bummed out like a lot of other people when they don’t receive one of the things they really wanted. May sound ridiculous but it is the truth lol

    • I agree. Don’t get me wrong I think its nice that they are trying to cater to our individual skin needs but last month I definitely would have preferred the matte bronzer to try since we just got a liquid bronzer the month before.

      • Oh my gosh!! I wanted the matte bronzer too!! Haha, I preferred the liquid bronzer from June’s box rather than the one from the July box!

    • It’s not just you. I’m the exact same way.

      • So glad I’m not the only one. It’s almost like a tease lol

  40. This box is way better for me than last month. Warm Cotton is one of my favorite scents ?

  41. Does anyone know, if you unsubscribe, do they put you back on the waitlist or can you sub in and out as you want?

    • You go back on the waitlist. I asked their customer care people about it and decided to keep the subscription because it took FOREVER for me to get off the waitlist the first time

      • I’ve been off the wait-list twice now, and I think it’s a good job for them business-wise; no one wants to leave b/c of the wait-list LOL

  42. Not a fan at all since I don’t use eye products. I really only want to keep it one more month since I have the dream that Sephora might give an extra product for those who have subscribed since the first box. Wishful thinking….

  43. I’m so behind in the make up market, I don’t even know what most of these are… Time to get to the Google machine and start figuring it out! I’m still excited to try new stuff and hope to make the two plus hour trek to the nearest Sephora soon!

    • Just added links to each product – hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Awesome! Thank you so very much, I really appreciate it! You’re the best โค๏ธ

      • Thank you Liz, appreciate your attention to all the little details!

  44. Yay for CLEAN fragrance! I will probably be swapping everything else, though. Not my mascara, I prefer matte eyeshadow these days (though MUFE is a favorite of mine…) and the skincare options aren’t right for my skin. The new Lancome product looks intriguing. Their products normally have too much fragrance, though.

  45. All in all this looks like it will be a pretty nice box!! : ) Would have loved some Urban Decay eyeshadow primer in there instead of a 2nd eyecream, but only because I don’t feel like going to pick some up myself right now…lol! Am definitely excited for this box!

    • Ok, I partially take that back. The Lancome Energie De Vie does look pretty interesting and since dullness is a skin issue of mine I wouldn’t mind giving this a shot.

  46. Looks like I made the right decision to cancel (and you can do it right on the website right now!) I’m apparently one of the few women who doesn’t use mascara and rarely uses eye liners. I’m drowning in eye shadow and eye cream thanks to sub boxes (and Bare Minerals mystery boxes). And I have enough eyeliners to hold me for the next few years, I think! After finally getting off the waitlist, I’m just not finding Play as exciting as I’d hoped, probably because I’ve been a VIB for years and have gotten lots of similar items as samples/rewards. I’m glad others are enjoying it though!

    • I cancelled this too. I’ve been a subscriber since the first box but cancelled this month. I keep getting the same samples I do as a VIB Rouge. So I took the money and subscribed to something else not sample based. Being a VIB Rouge gets better samples and I can pick the ones I want.

      • Same here. No regrets so far either.

  47. I’m loving this box!

  48. Yaaaaaas. Thank you Anonymous MSA Sephora Play Tipster!
AMSPT… which can make the word stamp. We could call you Stamp cause he/she delivers the newz.

    • Love the Stamp! Also loving the spoilers especially when I was unsure about this month. Do I need another mascara? No. But am I excited to try this Urban Decay one? Heck yeah ๐Ÿ™‚

      • It is soooooo good. If you have BTS mascara, I highly suggest combining the two. I personally like the UD one better!

  49. Perversion mascara has been my absolute favorite mascara in the last couple years. I never buy it bc subs & gwp keep me stocked in mascara but I am looking forward to this box!
