The box came with this information card. This month, the theme was “the big chill.”

Multipet Chillybone (rubber) – Value $12.94

We’ve had the canvas Chilly Bones before and that thing lasted approximately 30 seconds. I have more hope for this rubber one. Nyx hasn’t had this yet as I am discouraging active chewing at the moment, since she has a little sore in her mouth that I want to heal first. (This is life with a dog on prednisone, unfortunately.)

You put water in this and freeze it, by the way. Then dogs can chew on it in the summer heat to cool down.  Nyx LOVES ice (ice is a safe treat for her IBD…).

Bow Wow Pet Flip Flop Rope Toy – Value $4.66

I could only find this for sale on sites like Groupon so that is what is linked to above. I think Nyx will enjoy this and I think it is size-appropriate, though I don’t expect it to last super long. Still, it definitely fits the theme.

petgiftboxdog-june-2016-treats

Isle of Dogs Chillout Soft & Chewy Dog Treats (7 oz) – Value $5.99

These are wheat free and made in the US. They have lemon balm and lavender and are supposed to be calming. As best I can tell from looking at the ingredients list, they are free of meat products so they might be a good choice for dogs with allergies (though they do have barley and dairy ingredients).

The Bear & The Rat Fro Yo To Go Sweet Potato Carrot Flavor (2 oz) – Value $10.99

These seem familiar to me but I can’t remember why. I’m sure it’s because I got them in another subscription box at some point in the past. This is freeze-dried yogurt and is free of grains and meat products so it also would be a good choice for dogs with allergies. Plus it has probiotics from the yogurt!

Petlou 5” Beach Ball – Value $6.99 (?)

I’m not sure the item I linked to is exactly the same as this, but the listing is for a 5” plush beach ball, so good enough. Nyx had a lot of fun with this, as you can see below. It was big enough that she couldn’t fit the whole thing in her mouth, either (although she tried).

As expected, Nyx had a lot of fun with the ball. It didn’t last a terribly long time, but that’s Nyx for you.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $41.57 for the June Pet GiftBox. That’s one of the better values I’ve seen for this box. Even though some of the prices I found online seemed high to me, I think you still come out ahead even if you knock a few dollars off the total. All the items fit the theme very well and a box with three toys is always a win for us.

What do you think of the June Pet GiftBox? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?

Isn’t this the July box, not June? Anyway, I finally received mine last night, after a lengthy delay. I actually suspended my subscription for August, because I was frustrated and furthermore, I don’t need two boxes in the same month. I already have a box full of extra toys from sub boxes hidden in a closet!
Mostly I just came here to comment and say how impressed I am with their customer service. The representative remained in frequent contact with me – even when she didn’t have any new information she wrote to assure me she was still working on the problem. By the time my box finally shipped, they were out of one of the bags of treats, so they substituted treats from an earlier month and threw in an extra toy.
I noticed some comments about how difficult it is to cancel the subscription – I think they had some technical difficulties to iron out early on, but I had no trouble cancelling a gift subscription I intended as a one-time purchase for a friend earlier this year, and it was super simple to postpone my August box with one click while I was waiting to sort out my July box.
I am very pleased with the contents of this box. Though I’m not a huge fan of plush toys because they tend to get slobbery and yucky, I think the rope flip-flop is totally adorable….Marco may not ever get his paws on it. I’m considering using it more for summery decor (maybe hang it on my front door?) as a testament to my love of dogs and flip flops hahahaha! The chill bone is very unique. I’m excited to see how Marco likes it!

Last year I got a box or two of this subscription box with a Groupon, and they spammed me so much after I cancelled–multiple times I unsubscribed from their emails, which were very frequent, yet a few days or a week later they’d start up again. I finally blocked their emails because I thought it was so annoying.

By the way though, this sub does “support America’s VetDogs, providing assistance to veterans with disabilities.”

They did the same to me (spam), plus continued to charge me AFTER I cancelled! I was furious and contacted Groupon too.

That sucks! Cancelling wasn’t easy, had to email to cancel, wait for an email back asking if you’re sure, email back to say I’m sure, wait for confirmation… At least I didn’t get billed again…

I have a small dog that isn’t hard on toys and we were trying several pet boxes so we suddenly had too many bags of treats and was running out of space to store them! I thought *maybe* I’d resubscribe again in the future but now I won’t.

rockin_on05

I’ve never had a problem with cancel or spam

I did not have a problem cancelling. They emailed A LOT with offers/deals to resubscribe. It was obnoxious, especially after unsubscribing and it saying I’d successfully unsubscribed.

That picture of Nyx looking up is gorgeous! Such a sweet looking fur baby!

She’d put a hole in the beach ball at that point and we were trying to get her to drop it. So we were distracting her with some other toys. But her reaction was to stuff as much of the ball in her mouth as she could and I could just see the wheels turning in her head (“is there enough room in my mouth for TWO toys?”).

Nyx is too cute! I get this sub every month for my 60lb Thai Ridgeback. She loves getting and opening this box every month. This is one of the only sub were the toys are size appropriate for her.

Nyx is adorable! My German Shepard would have LOVED that beach ball.
