This month the theme for The Pantry Box is "Summer BBQ"!

EFL4

Ginger Sesame BBQ Sauce - $7.50

This BBQ Sauce has a lot going on: ginger, sesame seeds, brown sugar and pineapple juice. I really enjoyed the flavor of it though - it was a welcome change from the standard, run of the mill BBQ sauce that you can find everywhere. The sesame flavor added a really nice depth to the sauce, and the ginger provided just the right amount of zip!

Signature Blend BBQ Rub - $10.00

I haven't actually had a chance to use this rub, but if you look at the ingredients, it looks awesome. This has brown sugar, turbinado, salt, paprika, cumin, black pepper, garlic, onion, red pepper, and white pepper in it. It smells amazing, but I can't figure out what to use it with other than meat - give me some ideas, oh brilliant readership!

EFL5

Akka's Meyer Lemon Relish - $12.00

This stuff is outstanding. The flavors are complex and quite unexpected for relish but they leave you wanting more. If you're a fan of Indian flavors, you'll love this on anything you can think to put it on, seriously!

Sir Kensington's Chipotle Mayonnaise - $8.00

OK, I'm going to be up front with you all - I HATE mayonnaise. The only time I use it is when making egg salad sandwiches, otherwise I do not consume the stuff. So this is going to a friend, and I am sure they will enjoy it greatly. Sir Kensington's makes excellent products, so I am confident that this is absolutely delicious (for mayo lovers), and will pair well with any hamburger or hotdog you can find this summer.

EFL6

Primo Strawberry Ancho Preserves - $9.00

This is the answer to your sweet topping for a cheese plate this summer - it is excellent with cheese! My favorite is Dubliner Irish Cheddar, but I would imagine this would be equally great with a bit of goat cheese or brie. The ancho flavor comes through just enough, with the strawberry flavors melding perfectly with the heat!

10th Avenue Tea - Tropical Tea - $10.00

I really wanted to like this - I mean what would be better than a bit of powdered tea to add to your water bottles when you're on the go? I couldn't get behind this though - the flavors were really weak, even when I doubled the amount I was supposed to use. I am going to try again, but as of right now, this wasn't a winner for me.

Verdict: This box from Eat.Feed.Love has a value of about $56.50. I love that they include full sized products in this box, and that they usually all coordinate and go well together. This month, I thought the box was well curated, with a nice variety for a unique BBQ party!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Does anybody know if this subscription renews automatically every month and if it’s easy to cancel?

I gave mine to my neighbors. I know they grill a lot of meats. They have been giving me veggies out of their garden. Just a thought, maybe use the rub on some portabello mushrooms or veggie burgers.

Carrots. Either skinny ones you can cook whole, or fat ones you can halve. Toss with a little olive oil, sprinkle some rub on them, then put on a hot grill! Leave them long enough for some nice grill marks and partially cooked, then wrap in foil to steam finish. Grilled carrots are fantastic, and the rub sounds like it would contribute a smoky/sweet flavor

I love trying BBQ rubs like that one on roasted veggies! It would be yummy on zucchini, squash, peppers… Anything like that roasted in the oven or even grilled!

Debbie

I would do maybe some potatoes and onions with that spice rub. Yummy.

I also hate mayo.

Sorry no suggestions for the rub. I still have the Raw Spice Bar meat rub from the Kansas (City) box sitting around because, as a vegetarian, I have no idea how to use it either.

Ragan, I am so glad I’m not alone in my mayo hatred. I do like Debbie’s idea for using the rub with potatoes though!

You might consider fashioning the run with some other ingredients to make a nice bread dip. Could be either the cream-based (cream cheese or the like) or an oil based with a tiny bit of rub for the flavor.
