Gorilla Gamer Crate Subscription Box Review + Coupon– Jul 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Gorilla Gamer Crate is a subscription box for gamers! Their website calls it a “monthly, mystery, console specific crate focused 100% on video gamers.” My sons are complete video game addicts, so they were thrilled to hear about this box!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Gorilla Gamer Crate

The Cost: $39.99 + $7.95 shipping = $47.94 / month with discounts for longer commitments

COUPON: Save 5% off your first box with code MSA5

The Products: A surprise assortment of video gamer gear, t-shirts, console accessories and related goodies

Ships to: US for $7.95, Canada for $19.95, everywhere else for $39.95

Good to Know: GGC also has a smaller subscription box called “GGC Lite” that costs $19.99 per month. Shipping costs are the same.

Also Good to Know: When you sign up, you select PS4 or XBox One as your console. Those appear to be the only options at the moment. We chose PS4.

This is the only printed material that came in this month’s box. It doesn’t have any info about the package contents, but it does mention that tagging pics of your GGC swag on social media could win you some free boxes!

Uncharted Custom Tee – Value $15?

This is the t-shirt that was included this month, and we *think* it’s a nod to Uncharted (thanks Eric!), which is a game my kids don’t play. But, it’s still a cool t-shirt, and my kids sure go through them.

Zelda – Story of the Hero Poster – Value $4.47

My kids have finally decided to give Zelda a go, and considering their choice of video games, I’m glad they have. They were happy to get this poster, and I have to say, it looks pretty cool!

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Lanyard – Value $5.99

Of course my kids are too young to play Assassin’s Creed, but they’re always happy to have swag that makes them look like they play games that are rated M. Can you see my eyes rolling?

Gorilla Gamer Custom PS4 Controller Pouch – Value $9?

I used the average cost of PS4 controller pouches here for the value since this is a custom item. I didn’t think my ten-year-old would be into it, but he really likes this!

Funko POP! Games Assassin’s Creed Ezio Action Figure – Value $8.59

They don’t play Assassin’s Creed, but my sons do love building a mighty Funko POP! collection! And this little guy is adorable. I’m sure he’s horribly nasty in the game, but he’s super precious in POP! form.

Clif Bloks Energy Chews – Value $1.79

Clif, what happened? I can’t even. It’s all sugar and caffeine!

Paracord bracelet – Value $4?

I couldn’t find this exact bracelet online, so this value is an average of similar bracelets. I’m not sure what this is for, either, in the context of gaming. Am I missing something?

Verdict: With the exception of those last two minor items, this was a great box from Gorilla Gamer Crate! My kids are not totally into these games, but they still liked all their goodies, plus I sense that some day they might be. The value of everything this month totals about $48, which barely clears the cost of the box. Last month was similar, but before that the values were consistently significantly higher. I would like to see similarly high values in the future.

  1. Ezio is the good guy – no worries about him being horribly nasty (a bit of a ladies man, but not a creep or anything).

The paracord bracelet I get not at all, and I’m pretty savvy on video games – the only thing I can think is that it’s for adventuring? Like Bear Grylls style??
