The box is somewhat customized so there isn’t a traditional information card, but there was an advertisement and a coupon code for orders from the Glamorous Chicks shop.

Colorstick Lips in “Delightful” (0.09 oz) – Value $13

I think this product might be discontinued as it doesn’t seem to be available on the Glamorous Chicks website any longer. That’s too bad, because this has a great formula and a nice summery, coral color.

Lipstick in “Fireside” (full size) – Value $14.99

This is a color I chose (they send out a selection email to partially customize your box, early in the month). It ended up with a bit more orange than I was expecting, but that is actually a good thing. Because I have like 30 red lipsticks, but pretty much none with this amount of orange in them, so this is actually unique! And for me, anyway, quite wearable. It has a moisturizing formula and the pigment lasts a long time.

Cosmetics Glitter in “Copper” (5 g) – Value $14.95

This was another color I chose. I tend to use glitter in manicures more often than as eye makeup (though it works for both). I have quite a few shades of nail polish that will go well with this.

Shimmer Powder in Green Tea (2.35 g) – Value $14.95

This had a little less yellow than expected, but I do know monitor settings can make colors appear different online, and I actually think I like how it looks in real life a bit better than online. I’m collecting loose eyeshadow singles at the moment and I don’t have anything in quite this color (I chose this one). The formula is pretty good, similar to Orglamix if you’ve tried any of those.

Mr. Kitty wanted to help. Anyway, from top to bottom, the copper glitter (no primer), the “Green Tea” shimmer powder, the “Fireside” lipstick, and the “Delightful” lipstick.

Here are the lipsticks on. Both of these are at the end of long work days and after exposure to Georgia summer heat and humidity. I did reapply each a few times. “Fireside” is on top and “Delightful” on bottom.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $58 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. That’s more than twice the cost of the box. I am really becoming a fan of the Glamorous Chicks lip products, every one I’ve tried has been moisturizing and nicely pigmented. If you are into edgier colors, they have a LOT to choose from. They tend to have purchase limits in their shop on lip color items, so the subscription may be a good way to bypass that if you are interested in starting a collection, since you can usually choose a couple of the items in your box.

Their subscription sign-up site probably needs to be redesigned, it is quite slow and maybe a little out-of-date. I’m not too concerned about that since I did eventually get it to work and you pay with PayPal. I’ve been having fun playing around with bold colors. Based on the models in their shop, this subscription could also be very good for women of color – they have models with lots of different skin tones.

The lipstick you put on in “Fireside” I believe…… It’s a coral color that was in the bottom pic of the July box. Anyways, it looked amazing on you compared to the colors that you’ve tried and shown on here. It goes with your skin tone and even makes your lips look fuller. I just wanted you to know so that you can see how well it looks on you!

So I signed up for this box after the review here. Got my extremely disappointing box today.
I received two lipsticks, one loose shadow and a pair of horribly ugly dollar store earrings.

My first lipstick says it is the color “Spy”. I won’t be able to tell you if I like the color or not because there was no lipstick in the tube. It wasn’t melted or stuck to the top. It was simply not there. There was a tiny bit in the plastic part that holds it but nothing above the edge or in the tube.
My second lipstick is in the color “Shopaholic”. A pinkish mauve that is so basic and average it isn’t even listed on those cards up there.

And then there is the loose eyeshadow. It’s sage green. I tried to swatch it but there’s really no pigment to it. It might work wet, if you apply several layers to build a color.

My favorite has to be earrings. They are hoops. Hoops covered with a plastic like material that I believe is supposed to resemble a snake skin. A snake that is hot pink, dark green, brown and grey. One hoop is round and one is oval. I’m not sure what the true form is supposed to be. The card they are attached too assures me that they are from the “Chic Collection” and the printed butterflies on it would never lie.

All in all This is pretty much the worst box of crap I’ve ever received in the mail and I’ve had a mother in law that dislikes me for nearly 13 years now. Save your $25 for the dollar store and you’ll get better products.

Thank you for letting us know! I’ve been contemplating this box but something just doesn’t seem right about it. What happened to you is what I was afraid of. I just haven’t heard much about them and usually that means they’re new or really small. I’m sorry you had to go thru that, I’ve gotten some bad boxes before and I try to understand how they can still be in business! No offense to MSA but it seems like they always send you the best of the best and then our boxes are completely different and the customer service will be terrible and most times you get no replacements or refunds.

As far as I know, they don’t have any idea I’m with MSA — I order this through a personal email address (i.e., it’s a regular subscription). I’m not even sure they know they’re getting reviewed here. I think they are small but not necessarily new — they seem to do most of their selling through trade shows (so the subscription box is not their main business).

Couple of suggestions:

(1) If you are disappointed and are having trouble negotiating a solution you’re satisfied with, take advantage of PayPal protections (I think that was the only choice for payment for this box). And don’t forget how easy it is to cancel recurring payments with PayPal.

(2) I always get an email to choose at least three products for the box. So make sure you respond to that (I try to respond on the same day). If you didn’t see it, check your spam folder, etc., and add the address to your address book. Because then you can pick from any of their glitters, shadows, mascaras, and most of their lip products, so you can get colors/items that suit you. I chose almost everything here except the coral lippie. The email does come at different times every month.

Emily

That coral lipstick is gorgeous!

What a fun subscription! The lipsticks look great on you and I love the green eye shadow. ?
