Dylan's Candy Bar Box “provides monthly gift box packages filled with specially curated Dylan's Candy Bar candy assortments, chocolates and lifestyle products.”

Subscribers can choose between the Chocolates Box, “which includes classic products like Bars, BarK and Good-to-Go bags as well surprise chocolate-y mini-bin fillables,” and the Signatures Box, which contains “whirly pops, chocolate bars, s’mores, mini-bin fillables and more… from gummies to chocolate and all sorts of sweetness in between.”

I love gummy candy, so I opted for the Signatures Box!

Dylans-July-2016-Inside

Unlike most subscription boxes, Dylan's Candy Bar Box subscriptions do not auto renew. So, if you pay for a 3-month subscription you will receive only three boxes. If you’d like to receive additional boxes, you will need to place another order.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

My box contained a card that listed the items included in the box.

Dylan's Candy Bar Popcorn- White and Dark Chocolate Swirl (6 oz.)- $9

This box was very well packaged and was shipped with an ice pack to keep the candy from melting in transit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep the candy safe. Both of the chocolate items in this month’s box got a little melty on their way to me. Luckily, it was pretty easy to break the popcorn back up into pieces. Once the chocolate re-solidified, it was pretty much as good as new.

This popcorn was covered with a generous amount of caramel and chocolate. It was really good.

Sour Gummy Bears (Mini-bin Refill)— $5?

Last month, I received a refillable candy holder in my box, and this month I was sent two different types of candy to use as refills for that container. I couldn’t find either of the refill candies I received available on the Dylan’s Candy Bar website, so I’ve estimated their prices. (I’ve tried to be generous in my pricing estimations, since I know Dylan’s Candy Bar charges a premium for their candy.)

It’s a cute idea, I suppose, to send a container one month and then follow up with refills, but I would have preferred to receive another candy holder this month. One of the reasons Dylan’s Candy Bar can get away with their super high prices is because their excellent packaging makes the candy seem special. Getting an unbranded bag of refill candy doesn’t have the same magic.

Chocolate Covered Sandwich Cookies (Mini-bin Refill)— $5?

These sandwich cookies were the most affected by heat— they basically melted into a big ball of goo! My husband was still happy to eat them, though, and described them as “a handful of Oreos with chocolate poured over them.” Another thing I should mention about the bags of refill candy is that neither of them completely filled the container. If you check out my last review of this box, you can see that the bag of candy for the refillable container was really good sized, and that it filled the container all the way to the brim.

Dylans-July-2016-BagCandyRefill

The refill bags I received this month didn’t even fill the container halfway.

Verdict: Compared to the last Dylan's Candy Bar Signatures Box I received, this one feels very light. I’m disappointed that both of my chocolate items arrived melted, and I’m also a little surprised that the refill bags weren’t large enough to fill the refillable mini bin. Last month’s box contained 4 candy items as well as a branded candy container, and this one contained only a box of popcorn and two small bags of candy. The per-box cost breakdown for this box (for a 3-month subscription) is $36. Even with generous value estimates, the items I received in this box are worth maybe half that. I enjoyed the last box I received from Dylan’s Candy Bar, but there’s no way I can recommend the subscription based on what I received this month. In the comments section of last month’s review, people talked about how much fun it is to shop in a Dylan’s Candy Bar retail location, and, for me, the first box I received managed to capture a little bit of that fun. This box, however, did not. With so many fun, creative, and well-branded products available on the Dylan’s Candy Bar site, the items in this box are surprisingly uninspired.

Add me to the chorus. I too was interested in this box, but $36 for that small amount? No effin’ way. 😀

As with the others, thanks for your honest review. At that price point, things should have arrived pristine! There is so much competition, you have to either be terrific and set yourself apart, or be a good deal so people know they are getting value for the money, or perhaps offer the one thing no one else is doing out there with a product people feel they can’t live without. This meets none of those criteria

I agree with everyone else…thanks for the honest review. I don’t read every MSA review, but I actually chose this one today because *candy* caught my attention! Why would they ship chocolate in the hottest time of the year? And what a rip-off for the money paid for such a box!

Dylan’s could have impressed a lot of us, it sounds like, but it has actually failed terribly…

Amen girlfriend….. It is good to see a happy review sometimes. Strange to say but just being honest. I have been looking for a candy subscription for weeks now and I have been to their site and the prices were crazy. I never seen your last review but I will check it out. No one wants to give a bad review but some times it is needed. I too wouldnt order after this review either. I would be upset too. I did just order a box from @Candyadriatico. I thought it was worth the 16 only because it was coming from the Adriatic region. Candy from Italy, Germany, Sylvania, Croatia, and one other place. 6+ candy treats in the #MiniMixCandyBox .They also have other boxes but go check it out if so. Ohh and the Mini you buy 1 and you get 1. If you want another box you just order another. Only paypal too which is a bonus to me.

Thanks for posting this. I was considering getting this subscription but not anymore. Even if the stuff arrived in perfect condition, the value is still not there. I’m wondering if you contacted customer service if they would make it right…

That popcorn looks like it would be so tasty!! I agree with everyone else though. I have my eye on this subscription box, but there’s no way I’d pay $100+ for a 3 month subscription. What you get for the price is just not worth it. As far as I know, there isn’t a Dylan’s near me, but I’d definitely stop in the store if I ever came across one.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was seriously considering this subscription. No longer. I’d rather buy in bulk from a store that focuses less on name.

Way overpriced. True example of paying for the name. But, I’ve gotten RL clothes for less on sale. This is just price gauging. 🙁

Seems way overpriced. And that is a hefty amount to pay up front. Should be able to pay monthly.

Wow this box is so not worth it. I was considering getting this, but if this is the norm, than no way ! I think $12 would be a more appropriate price for what u get.
