Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets. You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig). You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bi-monthly box if monthly is too often for you. This is a review of the cat option. (FYI, Cuddle Crate used to be known as Pet Pakz and they are currently undergoing a rebranding process.)
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!
Because Cuddle Crate is customizable and you can select different types of animals, there isn’t a traditional information card. If you have a dog or cat combined subscription, your items will be circled on the card. (Small animal items are not listed on the card.)
Kong Zoom Groom for Cats – Value $4.69
Monkey needs to be groomed a lot and he seemed to tolerate this more than a wire brush. It did get some loose hairs out, though it is not the most effective brushing tool I have ever used (see below).
Petstages Catnip Wrestle and Romp – Value $5.99
My cats are not really into these wrestler toys (but we keep getting them in subscription boxes). This one was more popular than most because of the little projections at the ends.
Kong Active Laser Toy – Value $3.49
Laser pointers are huge hits with my cats, and they did enjoy this, but these keychain laser pointers are pretty weak. Get a good office laser pointer if you want your kitties to chase (Nyx likes chasing lasers, too, but that’s how she tore one of her knee ligaments, so we don’t do that anymore).
Red Barn Cat Treats (grain free chicken, 2.64 oz) – Value $3.79
I know my cats like these because we have received them in boxes before (actually, this was the same exact type of treats I was currently using when I took these photos). I always appreciate grain free items for cat treats.
Real Birds Play-n-Squeak “Buzz Off” – Value $9.19
No lie, this is the THIRD time I have received this EXACT item in a cat subscription box this month. (There are other bird toys in this line, but we always get the green one.) It makes noise, which my cats are not so interested in (though it doesn’t scare them) but they do like the feathers, and it’s a nice small size.

Brushing Monkey with the groomer…
Monkey has had ENOUGH!
Some of Monkey’s hair that was on the groomer after using it.
There are certain things you can always count on Sneaky to do. One is to bite the sticks that have dangly toys attached to them. Another is to chase her tail in circles for no good reason. And the third is to bite silicone items. (Also I love Monkey’s stare in the background of a couple of these.)
This was Madison and Sneaky trying to catch the laser pointer dot, which didn’t show up well on the camera.
And the one thing you can count on with Madison is that, no matter how much he is afraid of whatever else is going on (he’s skittish), he will come out for treats.
And here is Mr. Kitty. I did put that toy on him; he wasn’t really in the mood to play (he’s kind of a grumpy old man these days).
Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $27 for the July Cuddle Crate for cats box. That is one of the best values I’ve seen for this subscription and is very close to the month-to-month cost of the box. (Please note that some sale prices quoted above are sale prices from Chewy.com and so the MSRP is probably around $30.) The groomer was a great find, and I know the treats are popular with my crew. Plus, although it was difficult to capture in photos, my guys (and gal) had fun chasing the laser pointer dog.
One thing you can expect from this subscription is to get name brand toys that are still currently in production, so if you are not interested in closeouts, this may be a good choice. Or, if you have different types of animal and want a combined box for all of them, this would also work for you.
What do you think of the July Cuddle Crate? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
