The packaging alone is very pretty and carefully wrapped! I love all the colors on the info card as well.

Snakku-Tasting-Box-May-2016-Info

This month Snakku is featuring the city of Sendai and zunda (crushed edamame paste) snacks. The info card explains what snacks are included and shows what the regular bento box contains (I suppose so people can see what they're missing out on!).

Zunda Chiffon Cake

This is one of my favorite discoveries from Snakku! The cake is so soft and spongey it almost melts in my mouth. The wrapping is cute to boot.

Zunda Manju

This is a rice cake with a hearty zunda filling. While this isn't a snack I would immediately reach for, it does remind me of traditional Chinese snacks I've eaten with their all their different bean fillings. The zunda paste is a little gritty but sweet and delicious.

Sendai Zunda Tart Cookie

This reminds me of a butter cookie. It has a generous layer of what almost tastes like zunda-flavored chocolate. It's scrumptious.

Matcha Azuki Cake

I loved it in the regular Snakku box and I love it in the Tasting Box. The cake is so soft, so tasty, so creamy. Give me all the matcha things!

Kusugai Peach Gummy

I've purchased and eaten these before! They're really tasty. At one point the individual packaging is wasted on me because I eat at least five gummies at a time.

Cheese Kibun Senbei

Senbei are crispy rice crackers, and this one is laced with addicting cheddar cheese. I would buy a box of this if I could.

Zarajiman

These are thin senbei covered with sugar crystals. The sweetness from the sugar combines well with the slightly salty/neutral rice crackers.

Verdict: I loved the Snakku Tasting Box! This month had a nice mix of traditional Japanese snacks and more accessible ones. I also like that it included a mix of sweet and savory snacks. My favorites are the zunda chiffon cake and the matcha azuki cake. I think this is a great snack box for those who want to have a delightful and unique Japanese snacking experience.

Bought one for my uncle’s birthday, he lived in Japan for a couple years so I hope he loves it! It looks so much nicer and more authentic than Japan Crate, which is fun but you could probably find most of that stuff in NYC where my uncle lives.

I’ve been wanting to sub to this box! I’ll need to get rid of some of my beauty subs. I’m waiting for a nice discount on the big box as there isn’t enough for me in the Tasting box! I also love matcha everything!
