PupCrate is a subscription box for dogs. They only send treats that are made in the USA. Choose from a small dog box (0-20 pounds), a medium dog box (20-50 pounds), and a large dog box (50+ pounds). This is a review of the large dog box. My dog Nyx is a Rottweiler and right now she weighs about 84 pounds.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Zippy Paws Tubbiez Duck – Value $7.99
Zippy Paws toys appear in a lot of subscription boxes. This is more of a toy for a medium-sized dog, in my opinion (you’ll see some of the scale of it in relation to Nyx’s head below), although Nyx did enjoy it.
Fido Fruits Gourmet Apple Crisps in Apple and Chicken Flavor (3 oz) – Value $6.99
These mostly look like freeze dried apples (and the package weight bears that out); my guess is the chicken flavor is added later. These are made in the USA, too, which is great. Unfortunately, Nyx can’t have chicken, so these will be passed along for another dog to enjoy.
Puppy Chillerz in Peanut Butter Flavor (5 oz) – Value $4.99
You mix these with water and chill it (for example in novelty ice cube trays); it’s basically a bag of peanut-flavored gelatin. I think Nyx might be able to tolerate a little bit of this (it’s grain free), so that’ll be fun. (We have to be super careful introducing new foods and treats due to her IBD so we haven’t tried this yet.)
Kong Squeezz Jels Hippo (medium) – Value $3.54
I love this product line. Nyx has a couple of Kong Squeezz Jel toys and they actually last for quite awhile. But. This is SO small. I can’t possibly safely give it to an 80+ pound dog. This one will be passed on for another dog to enjoy.
Earth Rated Poop Bags (1 roll) – Value $0.75
We get these in every Pup Crate. They will definitely get used, and I like that they’re biodegradable!
Here is Nyx enjoying the duck toy. She did eventually open up the back and start pulling out stuffing, as you can see, but it was more durable than I would have expected.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $24.26 for the June PupCrate. That is somewhat low for this subscription, but a lot of the prices quoted above are sale prices, so MSRP is most likely a bit higher. Plus, there are usually coupons available for this subscription, and combining a coupon with a multi-month plan can help bring the price down. I thought the mix of items was good and that the products were generally high quality. However, this really seems like a better subscription for people with smaller dogs. It seems each of the last couple of months, I have received at least one toy that is far too small to safely give to a large breed dog.
What do you think of the June 2016 PupCrate dog subscription box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
