Our Subscription Box Favorites for April!
We’re starting a new monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite items from the past month:
The Item: Clase Azul Anejo Tequila
The Cost: Approximately $128 for 200 ml.
Why I love it: This is the most beautiful bottle of alcohol I’ve ever seen. I’ve never owned such an expensive liquor before- what a luxury! The contents didn’t disappoint, either. This is the best tequila I’ve ever had.
The Cost: €3.50 (approximately $3.93 USD)
Why I love it: I usually prefer dark chocolate over milk, but this is one of the best chocolate bars ever. The flavors of rose and pistachio complement each other beautifully.
The Cost: $13.95
Why I love it: Turkish delight is one of my all-time favorite candies, and Hazer Baba’s version is just perfect. I love the selection of flavors (rose is my favorite!), and the wooden presentation box is very nice.
The Item: Weekend Casual – Anchors Away Tie
The Cost: $30.00
Why I Love It: John has been out on his boat a lot this past month. Every chance he gets. Though I’ve never been on his beloved new toy, I can’t blame him for loving this tie just as much! Thanks SprezzaBox, perfect timing!
The Item: Mally Beauty – EverColor Shadow Stick
The Cost: $25.00
From: Essence Beauty Box
Why I Love It: This color just really looks great on my skin tone. I love that it lasts for”EVER”! The shimmer isn’t over the top for a work/daytime look but can be dressed up for a night/date out. I’m looking forward to getting more of these in other colors.
The Item: HH – Aloe+Green Tea Soy Candle
The Cost: $18.00
Why I Love It: This candle smells really great. I love that it’s smaller than many of the candle jars found in stores today, but can fill a large space in no time. I’m already using my May candle and I still like this one more. I’m nearly to the halfway mark and I’m happy to announce it burns evenly. Win!
The Cost: $52
Why I love it: Because it’s beautiful! I love gold, I love layered necklaces, and I love turquoise! If someone designed a piece of jewelry specifically just for me, it would seriously end up looking like this!
The Item: Sugar Bowl by DID Keramoplast
The Cost: ???
Why I love it: This is my new favorite piece of home decor. Look at those beautiful saturated colors melting into one another. I also love pieces from exotic lotions, in this case Bulgaria!
The Item: Air Plant and Tree Stump Holder
The Cost: $16
From: Rain City
Why I love it: I’m not really sure why, but I do love it. This is the first tillandsia I’ve had that seems to be thriving, and I think I attribute it to the tree stump. It might also be true that I love it because it’s the only creature in my house that doesn’t make huge messes!
Nancy M’s Favorites:
The Cost: $9.00
From: LipMonthly Subscription Box (COUPON: Get your first box for $5 with a monthly subscription with code 1ST5 OR use code 1STFREE to get your first box free with a 4-month subscription OR get use code 3FREE to get 3 months free with an annual subscription!)
Why I love it: It is such a beautiful natural shade and comes in the perfect compact size. I’m familiar with the Starlooks brand thanks to subscriptions but I’ve never tried out their Perfect Size line before. I will be wearing this all summer!
The Cost: $15.00
Why I love it: I’m a huge fan of balsamic to begin with so I knew immediately I would love this! At first I didn’t like this on salads, but once I tried it on cheeses I feel in L.O.V.E. It is absolutely delicious & the bottle is so vintage chic. It tastes so good that I plan on purchasing more from the Beekman store once I run out!
The Item: Soapbox Sea Minerals Body Wash
The Cost: $2.99
Why I love it: I fell in love with this product because it has the most clean & comforting scent! I’ve used it every day since I received it so I feel like it’s safe to say I’m addicted. I am definitely purchasing the 20 oz full-size bottle once I run out of this deluxe sample!
The Cost: $3.43
From: Purr Packs
Why I Love It: This picture says it all:
The Item: Colorful Spectra Cat Umbrella (exclusive)
The Cost: $37.99
From: Cat Lady Box
Why I Love It: Bright colors and cats, what’s not to love? I didn’t need a new umbrella but now this is the only one I carry around.
The Item: BPI Sports Best BCAA in Passion Fruit
The Cost: $19
Why I Love It: It’s funny, but I bought this exact thing a week before I received it from Monarch Fitness (different flavor but otherwise identical). I have lost a fair amount of weight this year and realized I had been losing a bit of muscle. I don’t really get a lot of protein in my diet (vegetarian and not a fan of protein-heavy foods) but I had heard BCAA supplements could help stop muscle loss while you are in a calorie deficit. This tastes good and lacks caffeine (I work out late so that is useful). And I think it is helping preserve muscle – I’ve been using it for about a month now and am happy with the results.
The Item: Wrap It Up Dress
The Cost: $60?
From: Golden Tote
Why I love it: April was my favorite month of Golden Tote maybe ever – including all the surprises! This dress was a chosen item (meaning I picked it as one of my 2 picks for the $149 tote). I love this because it’s such a great length for tall girls! GT dresses are often very short for my 5’11” frame. This is one of the most flattering and comfortable dresses I own!
The Item: Gilli Dress with Striped Skirt
The Cost: $60?
From: Golden Tote
Why I love it: This dress was also from my April $149 Golden Tote, but it was a surprise item! I’m obsessed with this dress (now if it can only be warm enough to wear it!). It’s super flattering and it’s bright and colorful in the best way.
The Item: Margyl Wedge Sandal in Cognac
The Cost: retail: $59.95, JustFab VIP price: $39.95
Why I love it: You’ll see these shoes in basically all of my clothing subscription reviews because they are definitely my go-to summer sandal! The wedge is nice and flattering without being too high (I think its 3.5”, which is the highest I like to wear these days), and the neutral color matches every outfit I have. I bought these looking for a neutral, every-day summer sandal and I was definitely not disappointed.
The Item: Mineral Blush in Vintage Peach
The Cost: $20
Why I love it: This blush is a gorgeous shimmery peach shade. It’s a warmer color than I usually wear, but I think it’s actually a gorgeous color for my skin tone! The pigmentation packs a punch, too, so you know a little will go a long way, and that this container will last a while! This has become my new favorite, go-to blush. I tend to stay away from loose powders because of the mess, but this has a little twisting mechanism inside the lid that prevents the powder from going everywhere when you close it up and toss it in your makeup bag.
The Cost: $5.00
From: Chococurb Mini
Why I love it: It is, by far, my favorite in the box, and perhaps the best chocolate I’ve ever tasted. The texture of it is very interesting, and different from any other chocolate I’ve had. The flavor is also outstanding. The almonds inside are not whole almonds, in fact, I don’t even see almond pieces in it, so it might be ground almonds that are included. I found a stockist in my area, and plan to go there today to stock up on more!
The Item: Kuhdoo Soap Co., Bluebonnet Soap
The Cost: $6.00
Why I love it: The scent of this soap hit me as soon as I opened the box, and I LOVED it. It’s very light, and sweet, and I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. I can’t wait to use up the soap in my shower so I can throw this on in next. Not too floral but just enough. I am going to want to hoard this soap and not use it, but I’m trying to make a point of using up everything I receive!
The Item: The Kitchen Sink Candy bar by Mayana
The Cost: $7.00
Why I love it: You knew it was going to make it in to favorites again, didn’t you? This is absolutely the best candy bar ever. I shared this one with a friend, because I can’t keep it to myself – I think everyone should love it! I can’t guarantee it, but if you try it, you might become addicted. I was so excited when I opened my box and found this, I audibly said “Yes!” Do yourself a favor and try this candy bar. All others pale in comparison.
Nancy S’ Favorites:
The Item: MOODmatcher Split Stick in Green/Orange
The Cost: $6
Why I love it: This little tube of lip color gives me extremely long-lasting, semi-opaque, and vibrant color with the feel of a weightless lip balm. Best of all it’s inexpensive. If you like bold lip colors, do take a look at these!
The Item: Alpacasso Plush Shiro-chan
The Cost: $10.99
Why I love it: I love all things soft and fuzzy and this is the cutest and softest plush I’ve seen in a while. Plus, how can you say no to that strawberry polka-dotted bow tie?
The Item: PinkSeoul Washing Headband
The Cost: $7
Why I love it: PinkSeoul included a headband in the inaugural box of each of their 3 subscriptions. It is extremely plush, pulls back all my hair for a perfect masking experience, and looks adorable!
The Cost: $45
Why I love it: This is the first time I’ve received a signed and numbered piece of artwork in a subscription box and I think it’s just absolutely gorgeous. I love the colors and everything about it!
The Item: Badura Clutch
The Cost: $250
Why I love it: This clutch is beautiful. The leather is so soft and the suede lining really pops. I think the crackle finish on the flap makes it unique.
The Item: Kalahari Watermelon Eye Serum
The Cost: $68
Why I love it: I love how moisturizing this serum is and the rollerball applicator makes putting it on a breeze!
The Item: Intelligent Nutrients Renewing Oil Serum
The Cost: $33.00 – travel size
Why I love it: I have recently fallen in love with using oils on my face. I own quite a few but this is my favorite. I’m enamored by the scent which earthy and a little bit citrus. The oil absorbs well and my skins feels incredibly soft.
The Item: Sublime Naturals Zen Air Bliss
The Cost: $15.99
From: Zen Box (COUPON: Use code 20ZENIMMUNE to save 20% off any subscription for life + a bottle of Zen Immune Boost Essential Oil Blend at sign-up! (Zen Immune Boost is for both topical and inhalation, and includes essential oils to strengthen and support the immune system.))
Why I love it: I work from home and its still not warm enough here (ugh!) to open the windows so I have been using this scent in my diffuser. I love the citrus floral smell- it just makes me happy to smell it all day.
The Item: GoOrganic Apple Hard Candies
The Cost: $2.49
Why I love it: I don’t eat candy much but my husband and daughter both love these. They are sweet but they have a bit of sour to them too which is why I think they love them so much.
The Item: Pinhead POP
The Cost: $12.48 on Amazon
Why I Love It: I’ve been waiting for a Hellraiser POP since I started subscription boxes, don’t ask me why I never just bought it, I just assumed I’d get one at some point – and here it is!
The Item: Goonies Shirt
The Cost: $10?
Why I Love It: This was my favorite shirt of the month. The fabric is soft, and I love The Goonies – it’s perfect for me!
The Item: Makin’ Bacon Pancakes Shirt

Why I Love It: I think these shirts will be on my list each month. Matching shirts with Buckles is an easy pick.
The Item: Dementor POP

From: Fandora’s Box (Now out of business!)
Why I Love It: This is another POP I’ve seen around that I always thought looked awesome. No surprise – it’s awesome!
