Included was an information card with a list of the items for the month.  This month’s theme was “Spring into Style.”  (Note: This is the May box.  This subscriptions ships from the UK so it took a little longer to get to me.)

Cat Wallet – Value $19.60

I have no idea how to put a value on this.  But I love it.  And my wallet was starting to come apart.  So this is useful AND timely!

Here’s a look inside.  It’s a little hard to see here but there are plenty of slots for cards and things.

Silk Scarf with Cat Print – Value $11.60

This is really big, and I love it.  (I keep saying that…)  It is more of a fall/winter item for me (although it’s lightweight).  This will get a lot of use, though, later in the year.

Handmade Cat Necklace – Value $14.50

This is really pretty and includes actual dried flowers inside (though I suspect those are dyed).  I have a couple of dresses I could totally wear this with.

Here’s a little closer view of the necklace.

Quirky Library Chocolate Bar (100g) – Value $8.64

This is milk chocolate and, surprisingly it came to me in June in Georgia without being melted.  The extra little cat label (it’s a wraparound) is a nice touch.  Plus I am always up for getting new sweets from overseas.

Cat Fabric Buttons from The Heyday Shop – Value $8.71

These are adorable.  I need to find some clothing items with four buttons and remove them right away so I can use these instead.  Surely there is a cardigan or something in my closet that could use some kitties on it (I mean, in addition to the Monkey hairs).

Pet Munchies in Beef Liver (10g) – Value $2.50 (?)

This is a cat treat from the UK so the brand is new to me.  Sneaky is a big beef fan so these were a hit.

Handmade Collar by Lovely Luna Crafts – Value $8.69

My cats don’t wear collars (they always seem to manage to remove them).  But, this is super cute.  And if I keep subscribing to cat boxes, I will eventually collect enough collars for each of my cats to have one.  So I have something to attach all those loose rabies vaccination tags to, if nothing else…

Here is my attempt to show you a close-up of the cat charm on the collar.  Sorry if it’s a little blurry, I really don’t have the right sort of camera for close-ups.

Colorful Fleece Blanket – Value $8 (?)

This is made in the UK by a disabled woman to help raise awareness for vasculitis (here’s the maker’s website but there’s not much information on it).  My cats do like resting on blankets; somehow it is so much more interesting than the bare floor.  I put the it in a sunny window and here are the results:

You may have noticed you haven’t seen Mr. Kitty yet.  Well, he didn’t feel like coming downstairs during the day.  But I know he is a fan of ribbons.  So later at night, when he was more alert, we played with an item from the box. Unfortunately, only one picture came out. But it was a good one:

(I told you to watch for the ribbon!  Mr. Kitty LOVES ribbons.)

Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $82 for the May 2016 My Purrfect Gift Box.  That is above the cost of the box plus shipping by a fair amount at the current exchange rate.  Many of the items were exclusive to the box or not available in the US, so that adds value as well (think of what you would pay for shipping ordering from individual merchants!).  Plus, you know, the ribbon makes a great cat toy.  I liked and will use pretty much everything except maybe the collar, so I feel like this subscription is a pretty good deal if it fits in your budget.

What do you think of My Purrfect Gift Box?  Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?

  1. I love seeing them taking turns on the blanket!

  2. I love the kitty scarf. It looks a lot like the $62 SPUN Subtle Luxury from Popsugar! This box is a bit spendier than the Crazy Cat Lady box, but I do like the contents.

    • The base price isn’t too different, maybe a little higher, it’s the shipping from the UK that cranks it up, unfortunately. But yeah, the items are great.

  3. The picture makes Mr. Kitty look like a kitten from that angle, too cute. Hope his eye is doing better, appears to be from the photo.

    • His eyes seem to be better lately. He has a bad day every once in awhile but many, many more good days than bad, lately. He is actually almost 12 years old!

  4. My childhood cat used to get her back leg stuck in her collar (somehow) so after rescuing the 3 legged cat a few times the collar had to go lol.

  5. Love the wallet, the necklace and the pins, and of course the adorable kitty pictures in this review!

  6. I totally KNEW the ribbon was going to end up as a toy! My kitty loves ribbons too.

I really like the blanket. It looks pretty lightweight. Probably doesn’t get too hot for the summer? You probably have A/C though which I don’t, up here in VT it’s not universal but it sure would be nice. Trying some new ideas to keep kitty cool in summer. Usually have my tower fan pointed in her general direction and i turned the sherpa cover on her window seat upside down so that it would be slightly cooler. I might buy one of those gel things if she seems uncomfortable as the summer gets hotter…

    • I live in Georgia. I think AC is pretty much mandatory here. Just our upstairs one was broken a week or two ago and it was unbearable (lots of 2 story houses have one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs, here). We had to sleep on an air mattress in the dining room. (The cats figured it out and Mr. Kitty and Monkey were in their usual places in relation to me on the air mattress…)

  7. What a cute box! And even cuter pics, especially of Mr Kitty – so good to see him enjoying the ribbon ☺

  8. Great box! I am not a cat person, but this stuff is adorable! I want that wallet. 🙂

  9. This makes me want to send Mr. Kitty a big box of ribbon happiness!

  10. Wow I love all those items. They are so cute! I love your kitties I think even more!
