The bag came with this information card, which included more information on the products (plus some key ingredients and/or intended effects). This is nice since most of the masks only have directions/ingredients in Korean.
Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet in Acai Berry – Value $1.70
I have seen a couple of variations for Nature Republic masks this month, but the one I got is acai berry. The acai is supposed to help with wrinkles (not sure how except that I know it will have some antioxidants that will help prevent free radical damage) and it is also pretty moisturizing which may contribute to reducing the appearance of fine lines. I stay out of the sun so I don’t have wrinkles yet but I like the idea of using skincare as prevention. The sheet itself is made from three layers that are designed to help the mask essence absorb into the skin.
No:hJ Honey Blueberry Mask Pack – Value $1.08
I got some No:hJ masks in Beauteque Mask Maven this month, as well. I liked them, so I was happy to see another, especially since I haven’t tried this particular kind before. This mask has a lot of ingredients that will be good for quite a few different skin concerns. For example, this has aloe vera which is moisturizing, green tea and blueberry which will have a ton of antioxidants, tea tree and tomato extracts which will help fight acne, honey which has antibacterial properties, as well as some fungal and bacterial fermentation extracts.
This is one of those that you have to use for an extended period of time to see effects, but it is especially useful to someone like me – I’m 38 and still get breakouts but I am also wanting anti-aging effects in skincare.
Pilaten Lip Mask – Value $2.47
This has collagen for smoothing and firming the lips as well as reducing wrinkles around the lip area. Note: I don’t think whole collagen is going to get taken up by your skin cells (it is pretty big as a molecule) but it does attract moisture to the outer layers of the skin, which helps with fine lines and such. I like getting lip masks because I experiment with a lot of lip stains and some of them are quite drying. I think this helped moisturize my lips though I felt pretty silly while wearing it because it was so big.
Purederm Moisturizing Korean Herb Mask – Value $0.97
This seriously has a lot of ingredients in it. I expected it to have a scent but it really didn’t. It has purslane which moisturizes and may have flavonoids as well as omega 3 fatty acids. It also has Angelica acutiloba root extract (this is a plant from the carrot family) which is supposed to moisturize as well as have anti-aging effects, as well as peony extract which has antioxidants that are supposed to improve microcirculation, Cornus officinalis fruit extract (this is a type of Asian dogwood that contains a lot of minerals), and Chinese knotweed (aka fo-ti) that has anti-aging effects though I could only find information on this one in terms of oral intake and not skin application.
Whew! That’s a lot of stuff (and it’s not an exhaustive list). This is another good one if you want some ingredients that are off the beaten path, especially if you are interested in multiple benefits from a single product. But it’s also one you’ll have to use for a few weeks to see benefits, I think. (I mean in terms of buying multiple masks. Don’t re-use sheet masks because it’s unsanitary – once the package is open, it’s no longer sterile, and if you stuff masks back into a package or baggie to keep them moist, it’s just a really excellent environment for bacteria to grow, which will probably cause you more skin problems than it will solve.)
It’s Skin Avocado High Nutrition Mask – Value $1.82
This has avocado oil which is high in vitamin E (an antioxidant) and sterolin which softens the skin and may prevent age spots. I did think this was moisturizing and I usually have great luck with avocado as an ingredient. (Side note: I learned this week that vitamin E is actually a family of 8 different but related compounds.)
Arendra Animal Mask Pack – Panda Whitening – Value $0.62
OK, so I had a really hard time finding an ingredient list for this one because a lot of the search hits seem to be for another brand of mask, entirely, that also happens to have “panda” and “whitening” in the name. That, and I don’t read Korean. It seems moisturizing but whitening/brightening products usually have to be used for an extended period of time to see effects.
Velieve Girlish Mask – Collagen Lifting – Value $1.99
Subscribers could receive several different varieties of Veileve Girlish mask, as well. I think the art on the package is funny – the mermaid doesn’t look happy at all. This has marine collagen for firming skin, a red algae extract (Corallina officinalis) that soothes and relieves irritation and is also supposed to help with skin elasticity and pores. Of course, as mentioned earlier, collagen isn’t going to be absorbed into skin cells, but it does help hydrate by drawing moisture to the outer layers of skin. I thought I felt some toning effects when I used this one, and it was definitely moisturizing.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $10.65 for the June 2016 TutiiMask. However, prices were all over the place – as is usual for K-beauty items – and it could be more or less. Most of the masks were not yet available in the Miss Tutii store and many of the prices I found were for multi-packs, so they probably had a bit of a discount built into the prices. I enjoyed trying all the different masks and most of them were new to me. If you like to use sheet masks, but don’t have time to do them every day and/or don't have a huge budget for them, this subscription could be a good choice for you.
What did you think of the June 2016 TutiiMask? Do you get any K-Beauty or Asian Beauty subscriptions?
