LITJOY MAY 2016 - BOX

LitJoy Crate
4 overall rating
6 Ratings | 2 Reviews

LitJoy Crate is a monthly literature and book subscription box for all ages! My favorite part about them is that they send new release books as well as book-themed items. They have crates for ages 0-2 (board books), 3-7 (picture books), and 14+ (young adult). You can also get a mixed crate with 0-2 and 3-7 together. This is a review of the 0-2 board book crate.

The founders if LitJoy are passionate about books and literacy. Plus, for every box purchased, they donate a book to people who have none, or to help stock libraries!

The reverse side of that card lists information and pictures of each item.

Included in my box was a coupon code for I See Me and a little tip for reading with your little.LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 2

Little Sapling Alphabet Toy Blocks – value: $5.79

They only included A, B, and C, but these block are beautiful! They have the letters on one side and a picture of something that starts with that letter on the opposite side.

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 3

Gideon is still too young to know the letters and such, but he loves eating them and hitting them together!

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 4

Adventure Print from CanaryJane – (free printable!)

I like how they printed a free printable for us – this is a bonus and isn’t even included on the info sheet. CanaryJane actually has lots of free printables, including prints like this, invitations, coloring pages, and more!

Marble Geometric Earrings – value: $16?

These earrings are so pretty! LitJoy says they include an item for parents/moms in there children's subscription because the joy is for everyone!

Here’s a close up of the earrings.

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 7

The Very Hungry Caterpillar ABCs by Eric Carle – value: $8.99

I’m thrilled to have this – I love, love Eric Carle and his art style!

Organic Letter of The Day Cookies – 1 oz pouch, value: $0.80

These are cute, and the perfect literacy-themed snack, too! And yummy – I got these for myself because Gideon isn’t eating this kind of food yet.

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 8

Here’s a look inside the Eric Carle book. I love it. LitJoy put a #favoritepagefriday sticky note on the unicorn page because it’s also a “fantasy primer.”

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 9

M is for Monocle, A Victorian Alphabet by Greg Paprocki – value: $9.99

This book is totally adorable! The art is so great and the theme is cute.

LITJOY MAY 2016 - items 10

Here’s a look inside the M is for Monocle book. I love this book, but I’m just worried my son won’t be able to connect it to concrete things he sees in his life (not that he sees tigers, unicorns, or zebras in his everyday life, but those at least pop up on other toys and tv shows, etc. for better recognizability and relevance…). Inkwells, croquet, derbies, and journeymen seem a little beyond comprehension/relevance for a 0-2 year old. At least this book is a literacy challenge and expands their vocabulary!

Verdict: I definitely felt joyful with my first LitJoy Crate experience! What a cute and fun little box, and it definitely made me more excited to pursue reading with my son and prioritize sitting and reading a book with him everyday. I also loved the bookish extras, and especially that the books are new releases (my preference, and they tend to be more my style). The value comes out to $41.57 – I’m happy with that.
