If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from)

Also, they send your items in a differently designed tote every month! This month’s is a really cute pineapple design, but since I got 2 totes in one order they sent me one of last month’s cactus design instead of 2 pineapple prints.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

GOLDEN TOTE 59 JUNE 2016 REVIEW - INFO 2

Golden Tote has recently made updates to their return policy – now you can easily go into your order history and return individual items (it used to be an all-or-nothing deal). This month they’re also promoting their Facebook buy/sell/trade group, which is a great group for finding items you missed (whether or not you bought a tote), selling items that don’t work for you, and seeing a lot of reveals of the totes others get.

Personally, I think the Facebook group is a great idea and really helps reduce the amount of risk involved in getting surprise items/clothing online. You can also swap for any subscription box goodies on our swap site, too!

In each tote they toss in a styling card for your chosen items.

GOLDEN TOTE 59 JUNE 2016 REVIEW - items 1

Friendly Flamingo Romper – value: $45

So, I picked this romper this month. Part of me can’t believe I did! To be honest, I didn’t love most of the options for chosen items this month (especially since the mini, 2-item tote has a more limited selection of chosen items), and the shorts I was eyeing were all caught up in other people’s carts… So I impulsively tried this.

It’s definitely not my style or comfort zone, but I’m being brave and modeling it! I don’t hate it! I think it’s designed to work better for girls with smaller busts, though. It’s just so short (as I expected, since that’s typical of rompers), and I’d never wear shorts this short. So, I think I’ll try trading/swapping this! I’m glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone some and tried something that felt outrageous to me.

Gilli Zipper Back Striped Pocket Dress – value: $40

Ahhh, here we go! Just my style (and so crazy comfy)! This Gilli dress is very soft and I’m thrilled that it’s a thick enough knit fabric that I don’t have to worry about what I wear under it. The length is nice, too, and the pockets are a great detail.

Verdict: Well, I love my surprise item this month! The romper was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I think it’s good to sometimes experiment with things you don’t think you can pull off just to see. The flamingo print is adorable, though – I’m going to try swapping it for something more wearable for me! The value I got from this tote is $85 for $59 – I’m happy with that.

Erica, I think I got these nude flats from Payless a year or two ago!

Wish we could see the back of that Gilli dress. Love how courageous and willing you are to model for us. That sounds weird, lol! But hopefully you know what I mean. 😉

This subscription just feels like a rip off to me. $30 per item with such a limited choice?

If you don’t swap the romper, use it as summer pj’s!

both items are really cute – I love comfy summer dresses.
Love the flamingo print, but I feel like a lot of their stuff is too short for me, I just wouldn’t be comfortable in shorts or dresses that are that short. I’ve only bought 1 mystery tote even though I’ve liked a lot of things I’ve seen bc the dresses and shorts just look too short on the models (let alone me without model legs)

That romper looks so adorable on you! You look amazing! It’s a shame the shorts are too short! Love that Gilli dress too.

Haley you are my idol, I love that you model things even if you’re not comfortable in them. You look great in just about anything from my viewpoint but fashion is about your personal comfortability not what others think. Great job!
