Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – June 2016
If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from). For the $149 tote, you pick 2 items, and get 3-4 more surprise items based on your style profile.
FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it.
You get a different tote every month, too! I love this pineapple design.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Golden Tote has recently made updates to their return policy – now you can easily go into your order history and return individual items (it used to be an all-or-nothing deal). This month they’re also promoting their Facebook buy/sell/trade group, which is a great group for finding items you missed (whether or not you bought a tote), selling items that don’t work for you, and seeing a lot of reveals of the totes others get.
Personally, I think the Facebook group is a great idea and really helps reduce the amount of risk involved in getting surprise items/clothing online. You can also swap for any subscription box goodies on our swap site, too!
In each tote they toss in a styling card for your chosen items.
Striped Summer Dress – value: $78
This is a fantastic dress and I am so glad I picked it! The embroidered top is such a cute pop of color and the striped body is stretchy, soft, and comfortable. The length is also pretty good (as a tall girl I often end up with dresses that are too short from Golden Tote).
Summer Sizzle Top – value: $45
This top was my other chosen item. I like it, but I’m not thrilled with it. I love the colors and the pattern, but the style is a little dolman-esque, which I don’t love on my body.
Potters Pot Faux Wrap Dress – value: $40
I love a good faux-wrap dress (wrap styles are so flattering on so many people!). Unfortunately, I don’t think this shade of grey does much for my complexion and it’s just a tad short. It’s comfortable, though, and I love the textured fabric.
Gilli Floral Faux Wrap Dress – value: $40
Another faux-wrap! I like this one better because I think the color is more flattering. The fit is great and the length is just right.
Cotton Daisy Floral Top – value: $40
My last surprise item is this top. The front, floral panel doesn’t have any stretch but the rest of the top does (the solid black fabric) so that helps the fit. The shape is a little odd on me, I think, but I like this top so I’m on the fence.
Verdict: This was a pretty good Golden Tote for me! It wasn’t my best but I like all my items and am only on the fence about keeping one or two items (I may trade or swap them). I think my stylist did a good job!
What do you think? What items did you get in your tote, if you picked one up this month?
