Cuddle Crate
3.3 overall rating
4 Ratings | 3 Reviews

Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets.  You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig).  You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bimonthly box if monthly is too often for you.  This is a review of the cat option.  (FYI, Cuddle Crate used to be known as Pet Pakz and they are currently undergoing a rebranding process.)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Because Cuddle Crate is customizable and you can select different types of animals, there isn’t a traditional information card. If you have a dog or cat combined subscription, your items will be circled on the card. (Small animal items are not listed on the card.)

Petstages Dental Pressed Mint Leaves – Value $3.74

This has mint and is supposed to help with dental care. I’m not sure whether it does or not, but Mr. Kitty (who has terrible teeth) did bite it, so maybe it will help?

Petlinks Flash Dance Touch-Activated Light Ball – Value $4.11

This is a total Monkey thing. He likes hard, noisy ball toys. I don’t think he was too impressed by the flashing lights, but he did enjoy chasing it around.

Katzenspielzeug Safari Zebra Fish Bone – Value $4 (?)

This is from overseas, I think. I can only find links in Germany and the UK. It is nice to get items you wouldn’t see in the US. It’s kind of odd to get a cat toy that’s a fish bone shape but with zebra coloring. But the cats don’t care what the toys look like!

Petlinks 3 Blind Mice Feathery Toys (3 pack) – Value $3.74

Feathers are always a hit and these are small enough for the cats to toss around.

Blue Wilderness Chicken and Turkey Recipe (2 oz) – Value $2.71

These are soft treats that are grain free and made in the US. Madison and Sneaky enjoyed them a lot and Mr. Kitty wanted them but, sadly, can’t have them because of his IBD.

Gratuitous cat photo time…

Madison hid under the bed. But the treats did bring him out.

Sneaky biting the mint thing. Sorry for the picture quality, the room was pretty dark and the flash went off.

Monkey batted this around the dining room but I couldn’t get a good photo of that. Here he is, eyeing it with suspicion.

I think Mr. Kitty is trying to tell me he didn’t want the previous photo posted on the internet…

Verdict: I calculated a value of $18.30 for the June Cuddle Crate for cats box. This is based mostly on sale prices from Petco, PetSmart, and Chewy.com, so the MSRP of the items is probably in the low $20 range. This is a lower value than I would like to see for this box. One or two additional items would really help round out the value (the information card prices added up to $36 but those were inflated even above MSRP, in most cases, and I received one substitute item compared to the card). You can save a bit by using a coupon and/or getting a longer-term subscription, and this subscription may be a better value for a combined box for multiple types of animals.

What do you think of the June Cuddle Crate? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?

Boxes for cats are so often under value. It strange.

I’m thinking it’s because the target subscriber isn’t subscribing to “get a deal,” but rather because they love the concept of getting a box of goodies for their cat(s) in the mail – and then the potential for social media interaction with the ensuing cat photos.

Not true in all cases – just my theory.

Mr. Kitty’s face in the last shot and Monkey’s face in the possessive mouse toy shot are priceless. Always happy to see the cats enjoying their goodies!
