The Subscription Box: Cat Claws Club

The Cost: $33.90 a box ($24.95 subscription price + $8.95 shipping)

The Products: Lots of cat items, mostly toys, including some exclusive and/or new items.

Good to know: Although PayPal checkout shows as an option for this subscription, you can’t actually pay for the subscription with PayPal.  I checked out that way the first time and they contacted me, processed a PayPal refund, and I had to resubscribe with a credit card number.

Ships to: US ($8.95)

Included was a brochure with more information about the products.  There was also a card asking you to share on social media.

Ultra Light All Natural Brilliance Cat Litter (1.45 lb) – Value $7.95

This is the first time I have ever received cat litter in a subscription box. I have seen these ultra light litters in stores but have been suspicious. I have a chance to try it now. I do doubt this is one month’s supply – the makers were probably not considering the excessive urine-producing capabilities of cats like Mr. Kitty who are permanently on prednisolone. But, it is in one box so far and we will see how it does.  It *would* be nice not to lug around 25 pound boxes of litter any longer, and this is unscented which we need for Monkey, who has some allergies.

Imperial Cat Cat ‘n Around Catnip Bubbles (8 fl oz) – Value $4.95

The link is to a similar item because I couldn’t find this exact one.  Bubbles are usually a hit with my guys, especially Mr. Kitty.  (See below.)

Loopies Catnip Rocket – Value $5.95

This was also a hit with my guys (and gal).  But, none of the pictures of it came out right.

I Love Catz Cat Toyz (2 small pillows) – Value $4 (?)

The value here is a guess.  It is impossible to search for this item online.  But, catnip toys are always good and it is nice to get a few smaller ones alongside the larger ones.

Imperial Cat Snack ‘n Treat Yummy Chicken Bites (1 oz) – Value $5 (?)

This only seems to be found on wholesale sites so the value is a guess.  This is freeze dried meat, though, and that’s usually fairly spendy.  My cats thought this was pretty awesome (see below).  Even Monkey ate some, and he is not usually motivated by treats.

Temptations Chicken Flavor (0.42 oz) – Value $0.42

These are always a hit with my crew.  This may be a free sample packet as we got them in the last box, as well.

And now what you’ve all been waiting for…

At first they didn’t know what to think of the bubbles.  I like how goofy Madison’s eyes look in this photo.

I am happy to report, however, that the BUBBLE SLAYER came out of retirement.  He didn’t have his usual enthusiasm but he is getting older and his eye troubles mean he doesn’t see that well.

I was surprised at how quickly these treats got snapped up.  Poor Mr. Kitty wanted them, too, but he can’t have chicken so I had to hold him back.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $28.27 for the June Cat Claws Club.  That is a little lower than the cost of the box plus shipping, but somewhat better than some of the other cat subscriptions I’ve reviewed lately.  If you are looking for something that comes a little less frequently than every month, particularly something with more toys and fewer treats, this could be a good choice.  The items were generally hits with my cats, which is also very nice.

Ragan, which cat sub(s) do you most recommend? I only have one cat so I’m not likely to sub to more than one cat box, yet they all seem pretty good. For example, this box seems pretty good, as does Purr Packs.

Note: If it affects your recommendations any, my cat is of average age (he is not a senior) and has no sensitivities or allergies.

Speaking of pets, I’m also trying to decide between Paw Packs or Loot Crate Pet for my dog. lol

Purr Packs usually has the best value, at least the multi-cat box I get. I’ve only gotten two Cat Claws club boxes so far so it is hard to say what they are like over a longer period of time. If you like more Etsy-style toys, KitNipBox usually has a decent value.

Catnip bubbles!?! I had no clue that existed! I’ll definitely be buying some!

I purchased cat bubbles once…my cat was interested until they popped. The spray from the exploding bubble was too much like a water spray for her and she avoided them after that. Maybe I will try them again after seeing how your cats liked them…perhaps the key is blowing them low to the ground.

Aw my old cat would’ve loved the bubbles! Unfortunately my other cat is too timid lol.
