Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club sends authentic and delicious foods from around the world.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Inside

There are two different subscription boxes available from Yummy Bazaar. For those looking to sample international products, there’s the Sampler Box, which is $9.95 per month and includes 6-8 sample-sized products from around the world. The Full Experience Box, on the other hand, is $35.95 per month and includes 6-8 full-sized products from a single country.

This is a review of the Full Experience Box. You can check out reviews of the sampler box here.

Typically, Yummy Bazaar includes a booklet that provides information about the items in the box. Since I’ve received one in every other box from Yummy Bazaar, I’m going to assume that it was left out of this box by mistake.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Pistachios

Roasted Pistachio Nuts by Tadim (7.1 oz.)- $9.95

I’m a big fan of pistachios, but I have to admit that up until receiving this box I thought that all pistachios were created equal. Not so, apparently. According to Universal Yums, Turkish pistachios are softer than their California counterparts, and they tend to have a “melt in your mouth” quality. They really do taste different! I still have love for California pistachios, but these are creamy and delicious.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Coffee

Turkish Coffee by Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi (3.5 oz.)- $4.95

“Turkish Coffee” refers to a method of roasting, not a kind of coffee. Turkish coffee is also brewed a little differently than other kinds of coffee, and I believe the booklet included with this box contained instructions for preparing it. Since I didn’t receive a booklet this month, I did a quick Google search and was pleased to find some straightforward instructions online. I don’t have a Turkish coffee pot, though, so I think I’ll pick one up before sampling this coffee.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Eggplant

Turkish Patlican Roasted Eggplant by Tamek (18 oz.)- $5.95

“Turkish cuisine is characterized by diverse cold salads and appetizers that are typically served prior to main dishes.” This eggplant can be served cold, straight out of the jar. Yummy Bazaar recommends topping it with cilantro and red peppers before serving.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Figs

Sundried Mediterranean Figs by Sunshine Snacks (8 oz.)- $4.95

I love figs! Turkey produces more figs than anywhere else in the world, and these are dried under the sun. They’re soft, flavorful, and delicious!

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Chocolate

Dark Chocolate with Pistachio by Ulker (2.8 oz.)- $4.95

Fun fact: Ulker is the parent company of Godiva! It should come as no surprise, then, that this dark chocolate bar is out of this world tasty. It’s rich and smooth, and the creamy Turkish pistachios add a delightful texture.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Kebab

Adana Style Turkish Kebab Seasoning by Basak (2.3 oz.)- $4.95

I really like that Yummy Bazaar often includes seasonings and meal enhancers in their boxes. This kebab seasoning is traditionally used on lamb, but it also works well on kebabs made with ground beef or chunks of chicken. It’s a mix of red pepper, onion powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and parsley.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Pudding

Turkish Burned Milk Pudding Kazandibi Mix by Basak (5.3 oz.)- $4.95

Burned milk pudding is one of Turkey’s signature desserts, but it’s new to me. It was developed in the kitchens of the Ottoman palace, so it has a long and storied history. Traditionally, it’s made with chicken breast (yes, you read that right), milk, sugar, and rice pudding, and I understand that it can be quite tricky to prepare. This powdered (and chicken-free) version from Basak makes it quick and easy to make. I can’t wait to give it a shot!

YummyBazaar-April-2016-Tea

Premium Turkish Apple Tea by Hazer Baba (8.8 oz.)- $9.95

This tea can be served hot or cold. My Yummy Bazaar box arrived on a scorching afternoon, so I immediately whipped up a batch of iced apple tea.

YummyBazaar-April-2016-TeaClose

The drink comes in granulated form, and it easily dissolves in hot water. I really like this beverage, and it’s fantastic cold. A word of warning, though- it is incredibly sweet!

YummyBazaar-April-2016-TurkishDelight

Premium Turkish Delight in Traditional Wooden Box by Hazer Baba (8 oz.)- $13.95

A Turkish themed box wouldn’t be complete without some Turkish delight!

YummyBazaar-April-2016-TurkishDelightOpen

I LOVE Turkish delight (the rose flavor is my favorite), and I’m so impressed with Hazer Baba’s version. The packaging is fantastic, and the box contains an assortment of different flavors: rose, lemon, pistachio, hazelnut, and almond. They’re all really yummy.

Verdict: Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club is one of my favorite foodie subscription boxes! I love that they send full-sized international food products, and I think it’s so much fun to discover gourmet products from a new country every month. This month’s Turkish box was fantastic. I love the Turkish delight, apple tea, chocolate, figs, and pistachios, and I can’t wait to try the Turkish coffee and burned milk pudding. The items in this box have a combined retail value of $65. That’s fantastic for a $36 food box!
