WANTABLE MAKEUP MAY 2016 - BOX

Wantable Makeup
4.2 overall rating
35 Ratings | 14 Reviews

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (Plus a styling service for Fitness wear and clothing similar to Stitch Fix in the try-then-buy model.) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences. You also can return individual items from any box for a refund.

Doucce New York Lights Eyeshadow Palette – value: $35

I always like getting palettes in subscription boxes. Here’s the box and case… pictures of the shadows below.

Here are the shadows. There’s a matte white and light grey, and a shimmer grey and black.

And here are swatches for you! The pigmentation isn’t fantastic and they take some working with but at least that makes this smokey shade range kind of easy to wear (and a little harder to overdo).

WANTABLE MAKEUP MAY 2016 - ITEMS 4

Joshik Nail Polish In Peachy – value: $12

This polish is a pretty shade. It’s called “Peachy” but it’s really a bright red with orange undertones than a peach color. I like that it’s 5-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. I think this will be a great color on my toes this summer!

Mineral Hygienics Natural Matte Lipstick in Diva – value: $18

The info card says this is their “gloss” lipstick, but it’s actually a matte shade. Also, the picture (which they got from MH’s site, to be fair) is pretty red-looking, which the lipstick really isn’t. However I really love this lipstick. It’s become my new go-to. Swatch below.

WANTABLE MAKEUP MAY 2016 - ITEMS 5

Mirabella Eye Definer Eyeliner in Twig – value: $19

This liner is really nice – it went on really smoothly and has a bit of an almost-metallic sheen.

WANTABLE MAKEUP MAY 2016 - ITEMS 6

Here’s a swatch of the eyeliner and the lipstick. See how the lipstick is more of a neutral shade?

WANTABLE MAKEUP MAY 2016 - ITEMS 7

Here’s a look using the eyeshadow palette and the lipstick. I didn’t use the eyeliner because I didn’t want to mix the warm, brown, metallic eyeliner with the cool, shimmery greys of the shadows. I also feel like you can see it pretty well in the swatch above so I hope that’s enough. I also blended the shimmery black shade along my lash line to have a little extra lash love there.

See how this lipstick is a really pretty neutral? I love it. Perfect for my skin tone and easy to wear!

And here’s a better look at the eyeshadow for you. I don’t think the colors are very pigmented but, as I stated earlier, I think that makes them less intimidating for beginners and makes them more daytime-friendly.

Verdict: I like my Wantable Makeup box this month quite a bit! The palette is okay but I’m in love with the lipstick, and I know I’ll definitely use the eyeliner. The total value comes out to $84, which I’m happy with for the price.

I don’t know how this sub continues to do good business. At that price point you’re getting less value than you do in a lower or box each arm which are much cheaper. Just curious what everyone else thinks about that.

I dropped it after a couple months, my first test box was an awesome value. After that I was still getting brow products and mascara that I specifically didn’t ask for. I wanted foundations, bb creams, powders, blushes, I rarely got those. I did get a gorgeous lipstick once and an awesome blush palette.
